Food Scene

Great food that's fast, fresh, healthy, and made the way you want it. Open way late – and they deliver!

The Griz has the best of both: An amazing restaurant with fab food and a casual atmosphere, and a bar with billiards, sports and DJ later in the evening. It's right in The Hub, so it's a great spot to kick-off a night on the town. Fantastic brunch too!

Dine-in or take-out from this massive Chinese food buffet. Economical and decent food, with plenty to choose from. You can walk to it from here.

Another fave secret spot of mine... This no-frills diner is the place to go for a quick, cheap and decent meal almost anytime. Great little breakfast spot that won't break the bank. Within walking distance.

Kingston's best brunch spot. Outstanding food. A busy spot on weekends, but well worth the wait.

Drinks & Nightlife

There's almost always something happening any given night of the week at The Mansion. The kitchen is open late, and the food is great and cheap. Live music upstairs almost always. Guaranteed to be a crowd almost anytime.

Tom's Place is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's more like a hunting cabin than a bar – complete with stuffed wildlife – but it's got couches next to a wood-burning fireplace, quiet and comfy booths, super friendly staff, great food and an intimate atmosphere. This is my fave secret spot. Please don't share it with too many people!

This tiny, dark and cavernous pub boasts the best craft beer selection in town. Great place for a date or to try something you'd never otherwise dare to drink... except here, tonight, with friends, in Kingston.

Want to catch the game? Don't go anywhere else. Don Cherry's has the most big screen TV's I've ever seen in one place, and lots of seating. Walk to it from here.

An award-winning, local craft brewery and bar right in downtown Kingston. Beer is fantastic and so is the food. It can get very busy, but highly recommended.

Parks & Nature

Stroll the Lake Ontario Waterfront or run the trails. This park is great anytime of year, especially in the summer, when the splash pad and playground are teeming with active kids. Perfect place for a lakeside picnic, and plenty of parking.

Sightseeing

Tours through Kingston Penitentiary will offer a rare and unique opportunity to go behind the walls of Canada’s oldest and most notorious maximum security prison. Closed in 2013, the guided tours will provide an up-close look at KP as an amazing historical building and a national historic site, which predates Canadian confederation. http://kingstonpentour.com

I love this place... a two-screen independent movie theatre located in the heart of downtown Kingston. They show all kinds of movies, but specialize in art-house, indie, foreign, and classic cinema. Super cheap too! http://screeningroomkingston.com
