PLEASE NOTE MINIMUM STAY OF 3 NIGHTS FOR PEAK HOLIDAY PERIODS THE COTTAGE: The cottage has a sitting room with wood burner & dry stack of wood, a walk-through dining area with door to the garden and a well equipped kitchen. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, one with a king size bed the other with 2 singles all made up with fresh bed linen and towels. The bathroom has a bath with shower. Outside is a sweet garden that includes a sun trap with garden table and chairs. The back of the garden takes you straight into nature and numerous walks. THE AREA: Just under 10 miles from the Jurassic coastline and Lyme Regis, the cottage is a true haven where you can trade city life for the tranquility of country life. Thorncombe is a popular village complete with charming shop, church and a school with keys available for use of their small swimming pool in the summer months. Wind your way through the narrow lanes to nearby towns such as Beaminster and Bridport, whether sampling the local brew or just pottering through the Art and Vintage Quarter. Take in a movie at Bridport's wonderfully renovated arts cinema or a wood fire pizza on the beach at West Bay. Maybe go to River Cottage Canteen and Deli in Axminster. There are excellent restaurants and pubs to recommend in every direction and after walking off lunch you can put your feet up by the log fire with a good read. If summer days are calling there's lots to do with the kids, exploring beaches and hunting for fossils on the world famous Jurassic coastline or a trip out fishing for mackerel from Lyme's picturesque harbour. For fun closer to home, the village has a small playground just 3 minutes from the cottage complete with football field and basket ball hoop. A short walk away there's a forest, great for making dens or getting lost amongst the bluebells. For further indulgence try a slice of cake in the village shop. SUMMARY: A holiday to remember no matter your age, with one of the most beautiful swathes of countryside on your door step recognized as an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty bordering Somerset, Devon & Dorset. A car to explore is really an essential unless you are content to explore on foot; the village shop is stocked well for all groceries and local produce and has a small deli counter. There are a number of farm shops further afield. Depending on the kind of break you are looking for, there are many great walks and days out to recommend with some excellent restaurants to match.
A very popular village immersed in stunning countryside within easy reach of the beaches. If you're planning on enrolling on one of the local courses we are well located for Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage HQ or Guy Mallinson's Wood Craft Workshops. Right here in Thorncombe, you could sign up for one of Hannah Lovegrove's Yoga classes.

A friendly welcome into our warm and cosy log cabin set in the cherry orchard along with the use of our spa with the big Jacuzzi and Sauna. The Cabin is set in a lovely cherry orchard in a coastal village on a quiet and historic lane with views of the cliffs. We have had literally hundreds of happy guests who all enjoy the peace and tranquility of our cherry orchard. It is set within the village and so very near great pub/restaurants and shop. It really is a cabin in the orchard!
Enjoy the highly insulated and toasty warm cabin in winter, or lie in the Orchard under the trees. The cabin is 7m x 4m, and you can Barbecue, and visit the Beach and experience the fine local pubs that serve great food and ale. There are 3 pubs within walking distance! Explore the Majestic Cliffs of the Jurassic coast you may even encounter a fossil if you're lucky. Discover BRIDPORT known as “foodie heaven” tasting lots of local cuisine, visit picturesque Lyme Regis and enjoy getting blown off the famous cob. Excellent opportunities for outdoor sports with ample walking, running and cycling trails. Note you are really close to nature i.e. the odd bird and spider make their presence felt as it really is a log cabin in an orchard :-)
The famous Jurassic Coast of Dorset has been awarded World Heritage Site status. The Dorset and East Devon coastline where countless fossils have been found is a remarkable place. The coast includes the highest point on the south coast right here at Seatown of Golden Cap and the historic nearby resort of Lyme Regis. If you like food we are situated in a Foodie heaven, and Bridport will hopefully ring a bell… it is home to the original River Cottage where Hugh started his quest of local, home grown and foraged stuff. Love food, love West Dorset! You'll find fantastic produce grown in the area and that chefs did not wait for celebrities to tell them to cook local. Take the Riverside two-course meal from £16.50 in West Bay, Bridport's harbour. Bang in the middle of this unpretentious fishing harbour, it looks like a large wooden hut sitting on the river Brit. Fish is the speciality, of course, straight from Lyme Bay. Also the Anchor Pub in Burton, for great food, and the Three Horseshoes... Another good place to enjoy fresh seafood is the Hive Beach Café in Burton Bradstock also fantastic. These guys are committed to local. There's something tasty for all purses.

Lovely room for one or two adults, and a child. The room has a very comfortable double bed, and a vintage drop-arm sofabed which makes up into a sweet little single bed for a child. In case of allergies, we have pets- a cat, and guinea pigs. No TV, but good wifi. I work full-time and I'm a single parent, so our home is clean and functional but it's not hotel-quality; some of the furnishings and fittings will be a little tired (bath, I'm looking at you) but it's clean. longer stays are welcome.
My house is in a traffic-free street of listed townhouses a stone's throw from everything Bridport has to offer. I'd call it chic and basic, if that phrase wasn't already in use by a funky hotel chain : ) everything is there, it all works, and it's very comfortable and welcoming. Your room has a comfortable double bed with plenty of bedding and pillows so that you can get it just right. There's also a hot water bottle for you to use, and you'll also find books, plenty of plug points, a desk and the WIFI code waiting for you. the room also has a vintage sofa bed that wants to be a chaise longue when it grows up, that can provide a single bed for a child. There's coffee and tea in the kitchen, and I provide self-service breakfast foods in the kitchen for your use. There's a nutribullet if you like a smoothie in the morning, but you might need to get additional ingredients. Make yourself at home! There's no parking on the street, but the adjacent long-stay carpark is only £2.80 per day, and free after 6.30pm and on Sundays. There is a tiny back yard with seating and plants if you like to be outside.
Bridport is a vibrant little market town, with a street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a fascinating vintage quarter and a regular vintage market and masses of lovely pubs and cafes. Our house is right in the centre of town, a few minutes walk from all facilities, the art centre, the Electric Palace, shops, restaurants and takeaways. The sea is a mile away at West Bay, and lovely countryside surrounds us. Walk books and maps are provided in the room for you to borrow. Our street is a very narrow no through road so there is no traffic, although you can drive up to unload if you want to.

Cosy toes is a small but perfectly formed cabin, we are situated in a quiet estate on the fringes of the historic market town of Bridport. We are a 15 minute walk from the working harbour of West Bay, which, of course, is where the award winning drama "Broadchurch " was filmed, it has plenty of good eating establishments and quaint shops. 15 minutes the other way is the bustling town of Bridport with its twice weekly markets as well as regular farmer markets, along with many local shops. The nearest pub is a 5 minute walk and the nearest supermarket is 2 minutes in the car. Nearby you have Lyme Regis, Weymouth and many other lovely places. The coastal paths offer you many magnificent view points.
I love living where I do as it is so quiet but you can literally walk 5 minutes to find fun and laughter in the local pubs and also we are surrounded by beautiful countryside, I love walking out my front door and looking across to the iconic trees on Colmers Hill, stunning.

Welcome to The Pond House! Nestled away at the end of the lane, on the cusp of country walks and soothing views, is where you'll find The Pond House. Just a short drive to the famously beautiful World Heritage Site of The Jurassic Coast and situated in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Pond House is the perfect base to explore some of Dorset's most loved scenery. Max 2 dogs welcome, but please inform me beforehand. A £10 charge may be added at the end if there is extra cleaning.
COVID 19 UPDATE: In line with government guidelines, I am only taking new bookings from 4th JULY 2020. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Thank you :) The Pond House is located along a country lane that ends in a bridle path. There are no noisy main roads or constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet. You have your own detached space with your own parking and entrance. The bedroom and living area is a large studio space with a lovely old restored Villager woodburner facing the bed, so you can fall asleep to the sound of wood cracking away and the orange glow of cosiness. Huge glass doors and large double glazed windows fill the room with light and the view is into your own private garden with a big pond and seating area. This is a newly converted space that was once an old farm building with vast amounts of concrete. It has had new life breathed into it over the past year and the garden and pond are both new, with native trees and fruit trees planted in the hope that it will be a space enjoyed by visiting guests, wildlife, birds and aquatic creatures as the pond is discovered in the spring. The Pond House is rough around the edges and cosy where it counts. It is not luxury, it's cosy and designed as a space to be used by those who are looking for a quiet, relaxed countryside stay with no TV or WIFI. The Kitchen comes stocked with tea and coffee. There is a toaster, hot water, fridge with freezer, a 2 ring hob and saucepans etc. It's basic but has all you will need to cook simple meals. The bathroom is spacious and bright with a flushing toilet, hot water at the sink and an electric shower over a reclaimed bath. The bath does not function as a bath, only as a place to shower. There is an electric towel rail and towels are provided. Please be aware that the wood burner is the only heating in The Pond House. There is no central or electric heating - please be aware of this before you arrive so you are not disappointed. In winter the fire will be lit before you arrive so it will be nice and toasty and you can just relax. Matches and firelighters are provided. The first load of wood is included, if you require more you can purchase another load for £10 or purchase a bag of wood at the garden centre in Bridport. Please only burn wood, the Villager is NOT a multi-fuel burner and burning coal or other fuels may damage it.
We are a 10-15 minute drive from the seaside. West Bay is your closest beach, and it has plenty of places to eat, lots of fish and chip stalls and an old harbour full of boats. Drive west along the coast road and you'll find Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the Jurassic Coast, and Lyme Regis, the fossil capital of the UK and home to some wonderful restaurants. Lewesdon Hill, Dorset's highest hill, is just 5 minutes away by car. Once an Iron Age Hill Fort, it is covered in ancient beech and oak trees and filled with bluebells every spring. We highly recommend a visit and the views at the top will not disappoint. You have some of the best country walks straight from The Pond House. The Brit Valley Way will take you all the way to West Bay and the footpaths around Netherbury offer some gentle and some more challenging walks. For all your foodie needs look no further than Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. Bridport and Beaminster both have great restaurants and pubs and Bridport also has an antiques and food market every Wednesday and Saturday. There are many supermarkets too, takeaways and quiet corners to fill your spirits. We are very lucky to be a short walk from the Award Winning Furleigh Wine Estate. Pre-book for a tour of their vineyards and a tasting session of their fabulous British white wines. The Hare & Hounds pub is a 10-15 minute walk along the footpaths and does great beer and food. It's dog friendly and has a large garden.

A unique and romantic hideaway, Quarryman's Cottage is dinner on the roof terrace watching the sunset over Lyme Bay & Charmouth, stargazing from the luxury freestanding bath, epic views from the double shower, reading under the old oak tree, BBQ's & firepits, leisurely walks to The Anchor at Seatown via Golden Cap or the coastal path, the sound of birdsong, the glimpse of a deer, curling up in front of the wood burner in winter. It is a tranquil & heavenly escape from the bustle of daily life.
Quarryman’s Cottage is a beautiful and newly renovated one bedroom cottage that was built in the mid 1800’s (it had never previously had mains electric or running water). Sitting over 600 feet above sea level, The Quarryman's Cottage has the most stunning far reaching views of Lyme Bay, Lyme Regis and Charmouth. As an upside down house it makes the most of those views. The open plan living and kitchen area on the top floor opens via French doors onto a large roof terrace in one direction and a paved terrace in the other. The bedroom and large luxury ensuite bathroom are downstairs. It has been thoughtfully designed to create a light and airy property with large window’s in all rooms and French doors also opening out from the bedroom. It is south west facing guaranteeing you sun all day and the most wonderful sunsets all year round. The cottage is furnished with an eclectic mix of old and new. Beautiful vintage wood furniture bought from local antique markets. Ercol 'straight back' dining chairs sit beside an antique pine table, an old headmasters book cupboard has been loving restored to create a pantry cupboard and an old Teak ships door, found on Sanna beach in the Scottish Highlands over 35 years ago adorns the wall. Reclaimed pine joists create the floor in the bedroom and upstairs, the original pine boards lovingly restored by the owners. An Oak and powder coated steel spiral staircase from Italy takes you between floors. The roof terrace is furnished with a heavy solid wood table and benches plus a BBQ. There are 2 bulkhead lights which at night illuminate the surrounding tree’s creating the feeling that you are sitting within them. The kitchen is fully kitted out to a high specification with a dishwasher, washing machine, gas hob, electric oven and a gorgeous Belfast sink hidden behind an oak worktop allowing for extra worktop space. It has everything you need to create fabulous home cooked meals if you opt to eat in. The living area has a 2 seater sofa, side table, dining table and chairs, a beautiful Charnwood wood-burner, a large window seat, a smart TV with built in DVD player and a bluetooth speaker for listening to music. A stunning ‘double’ shower with far reaching views of Lyme Bay and Charmouth, a freestanding bath sits across the corner of the room under both windows allowing for a spot of stargazing, the freestanding sink sits upon a piece of reclaimed sycamore and the lighting hints at a nautical theme with stylish bulkheads, one of which which can also be dimmed allowing for ‘mood lighting’ whilst taking a bath. The garden comprises of various different area’s. The paved terrace is surrounded by a variety of tree’s and is a great sun trap. The woodland area under two large Oaks tree’s is perfect for lazy afternoons in the shade reading. The lawned area gets the sun for the whole of the day is a great spot for sun bathing and of course there is the afore mentioned roof terrace. There are two apple tree's which provide a constant supply of fruit in the Autumn. Heating during the winter is via the woodburner as well as Haverland Wave electric radiators (with thermostat and timers). Wood is found at the back of the cottage in the log store. Well behaved dogs are very welcome.
Morcombelake is a wonderful coastal community surrounded by National Trust parks in West Dorset’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Quarryman’s Cottage at West Bullen is nestled into the side of Hardown Hill, a National Trust park which is heather covered in late Summer and Autumn. It also offers the most spectacular far reaching views over Lyme Bay to the West, the ancient farming land of The Marshwood Vale to the North and Golden Cap, Chesil Beach, and Portland to the South East. Hardown Hill is perfect for an early morning or an evening walk with or without your four legged friend, taking in the sunsets, far reaching views or for a spot of night time stargazing. The cottage is surrounded by a small woodland area which provide a home for deer, as well as owls and kites. Throughout the year a herd of Belted Galloway cow’s graze on a mature meadow which sits to the left of the property. The village boasts an fantastic farm shop ‘Felicities’, perfect for stocking up with local seasonal produce. There is a cafe called Annies which serves the ‘best cooked breakfast’ for miles as well as lunch and afternoon tea and the famous Moores Biscuits which has a shop and deli and bakes bread daily. Should you wish to walk as far as say Lyme Regis then there are buses which also take dogs to bring you back making it easy to leave the car behind. Sights such as the Holloway at Hell's Lane in North Chideock are also within walking distance. The seaside hamlet of Seatown is a gentle 45 minute walk via Langdon Woods and there you will find the award winning Anchor pub (tourism pub of the year 2017) which sits overlooking the beach. It serves five star food created with local produce and serves local wines and ale. West Bullen is situated up a quiet lane with no through traffic (apart from the local farmer). It is only a few miles from the beach at Seatown or Stonebarrow and Charmouth. It is a short drive to the seaside town of Lyme Regis and the famous sites at West Bay from the TV show Broadchurch. Throughout the year the area hosts some world class events: The Bridport Literary Festival, Dorset Art Weeks, Devon and Somerset Open Studios, The Bridport Food Festival, Food Rocks, Weymouth Seafood Festival, Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week, to name a few. If you want to venture a little further afield then we are 45 minutes from the stunning Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door to the East or Dartmoor to the West. Should you opt for some ‘non coastal’ days out then look no further than the spectacular Forde Abbey House and Gardens, Bicton Park, The Swannery at Abbotsbury, Mapperton House and Gardens or you could venture out on the Thomas Hardy tour.

I have recently brought this cosy little beamed mill cottage (1840) with an open plan front room and new fitted kitchen. It is above the river and overlooks fields and sheep out the back. There are beautiful walks close by. The nearest beach of west Bay is just over 1 mile away.It is 1 of 4 terraced cottages and is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the lovely market town of Bridport. It is a great base to explore the Jurrasic coast line, and if you are a walker you will love the location.
My home is small , comfotable and a little quirky! It is set back slightly from the A35 which is a busy road in the summer, but the back spare room is quiet as it is above the river and overlooks countyside. On the street parking can be found in the road opposite.
Bridport has some great eating places and cafe's. There is alot going on music and arts wise, especially at The Electric Palace, a wonderful art deco building. There is also an arts center and many great pubs. The shops are not all chain stores, which makes it an old fashioned town, with a great market on a Wednesday and Saturday. Lyme Regis is just 15 minutes derive

With trifold glass doors to bring the outside in, a modern shower room, fridge, work surface, kettle, sink and portable gas stove for use outside, this is an ideal 'getaway from it all' place, but with basic mod cons. A sofa bed & tv complete the studio area. Dogs and a small tent by agreement.
An easy walk down to the gently shelving beach offering safe swimming and great rock pools. Situated on the Jurassic Coast path and in front of an award winning licensed garden café open daily offering a menu to suit all tastes. Fantastic walking and biking from your front door with stunning vistas.

L'esmorzar va ser excel·lent els ous i els tomàquets d'all. Només un passeig de 30 minuts que va ser bonic a la badia de l'oest, que és bonic Gràcies als dos amfitrions fantàstics. A small cosy cottage, and we love living here. In the Summer the garden is full of colour - and bees are welcome! Bedroom has TV, books, DVDs, classical music CDs, and of course, tea and coffee making facilities. A light breakfast included.
This a small, non-smoking house - you will have the pleasure of the biggest room. SHARED bathroom with shower, toilet and basin, (no bath), shower all day if you want in our double sized shower. Don't bring towels, shampoo or soap as we will supply, but do bring your own toothbrush! DOUBLE BED (4 ft 6 inches) with lovely mattress on sprung wood base with a metal head and foot. TV, wi fi, wardrobe, drawers and writing desk area for your laptop/notebook/ipad; tea and coffee making facilities and a selection of classical CDs and films with a player (or a few books to peruse and maybe take with you if you want to finish one). Use of washing machine for a load if you are staying 2+ days. Please note that we are on a MAIN ROAD, although the windows have curtains and double glazing. Bed and Breakfast may be scrambled eggs on toast and fresh fruit, or maybe a bacon sandwich, fresh fruit with yoghurt. Vegetarians can feel free to tell us, and be served accordingly (I have a lovely breakfast crumble recipe!) Tea (including green, please ask) or good coffee - expresso or cafetierre. We will serve breakfast up until 9.45 am.... but you can make a special request for a bit later the night before. We are 12 minutes walk downhill to shops and pubs and cafes, and we have 4 supermarkets within 5 minutes drive. You can also get a bus right outside the house every hour which will take you to Weymouth in one direction, and Lyme Regis the other. We are less than 10 minutes drive to West Bay, or you can walk it in about 35 minutes - where you can get the BROADCHURCH experience if you are keen. Our home is 200 years plus. The doors close but there are gaps at the top and bottom! However, the double glazing works well. There's no carpet on our floors, the room is original boards - but in Winter the house is warm and cosy and we can supply blankets to add to the duvet on the bed, and of course in Summer it should never be too hot but we can supply a fan. If you look at our pictures, you will see two cats, although we only have one now. She doesn't have access to your room, but you'll see her around.
Please note that we are on a MAIN ROAD. Bridport is a small town with it's own "feel". Many independent shops, market twice a week, some good eating places. Ask me how to find your way. With a car places like Chesil Beach or Lyme Regis are easy to find. You can walk from town to West Bay on the coast in about 30 minutes.
