Pontypool (Welsh: Pont-y-pŵl [ˌpɔntəˈpuːl]) is a town that is home to approximately 36,000 people in the county borough of Torfaen, within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire in South Wales It is situated on the Afon Lwyd river in the county borough of Torfaen. Situated on the eastern edge of the South Wales coalfields, Pontypool grew around industries including iron and steel production, coal mining and the growth of the railways. A rather artistic manufacturing industry which also flourished here alongside heavy industry was Japanning, a type of lacquer ware. Pontypool has a notable history as one of the earliest industrial towns in Wales. The town and its immediate surroundings were home to significant industrial and technological innovations, with links to the iron industry dating back to the early fifteenth century when a bloomery furnace was established at Pontymoile During the sixteenth century, largely due to the influence of the Hanbury family, the area developed its association with the iron industry and continued to consolidate its position in the seventeenth century, when the development of the town began in earnest. Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the metallurgical and extractive industries of the area, along with the development of the canals and railways, provided the impetus to the expansion of Pontypool and its surrounding villages and communities. its very green here and we love out doors stuff like shooting fishing and mountain biking.. the walks are bracing or leisurely based on your inclination and the people are really friendly the outlying areas vary from the true Valleys where Tom Jones was born to buzzy Abergavenny and Usk

Luxury Cabin is actually a hot tub room that came with the house - used the hot tub twice and stuck the thing on Ebay . Cabin has wifi , power, heating , a Tv and loads of DVD's . There is a double bed. There is an adjacent basic kitchen and a rustic WC and shower . The garden here is massive and full of poultry . We are in the wilderness of South Wales so if you visit in January bring a coat. Whilst the cabin is not the Savoy we are at least friendly.
Think of the cabin like comfortable camping with a bed electricity wifi and heating - and no packing up !
Holly Tree cottage is located in the south wales valleys on the edge of the Brecon Beacons - there are some fantastic cycle tracks around here and Garn Motorcycles (where Richie works) hire out push bikes so if you fancy cycling about let us know before you are coming and we can sort bikes out for you

Perfectly located house close to Cwmbran town centre that can accommodate 2 guests in a comfortable double bed in a clean and fresh room
Welcome to my home and I hope the following gives you an idea of what you’re going to book? The House: I live in a 2 bedroomed house and you will have use of my second bedroom that has recently been decorated and has a new comfortable double bed. Downstairs there is a cosy yet bright living room which we will share and there is a TV with terrestrial TV plus Netflix & Amazon Prime....I’ll even let you have charge of the remote control :-) There is also a small stereo unit for entertainment plus Alexa devices throughout the house. There is a downstairs toilet (to save that dash upstairs!). Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms (yours and mine) and a bathroom – well actually a shower room with a good sized shower cubicle. In your room I will leave a towel to save you having to pack one as they take up so much room, some toiletries if you’ve forgotten anything plus there is a small / medium sized wall mirror for that last minute check on how gorgeous you are! There are hangars available on the doors to hang clothes from, plus you will also have the use of a number of drawers in the tall set of drawers to put your bits & pieces. There is a desk and chair in the room should you need a workstation and please be advised that although my computer is in your room but I won’t ever use it when you are occupying the space – your privacy and comfort is important to me. You will also find a folder with information leaflets in about things to do in the local areas (and some things a bit further afield). Outside is a patio area with table and chairs plus a parasol for those hot summer days (as the back garden is south-facing and gets lots of sun). I occasionally fire up the chimnea on chilly summer evenings when it’s too nice to be inside – just make sure you don’t sit too close to it or it’ll warm your wine or beer up! Location: The house is conveniently situated very close to Cwmbran town centre and you can easily walk there in just 5 minutes where you will find a good range of shops and most of the town is under cover. If you need to drive to the town it will take you about 2-3 minutes to do so and it is all free parking. There are 3 supermarkets within close walking proximity with one of them being open 24 hours should you have forgotten anything. In town is the main bus station (although there is a bus stop just 3 minutes’ walk from the house) with regular services to Newport (10 - 15 minute journey), Cardiff (approx. 30 minutes) and to other towns in South Wales. The railway station is a 15 minute walk from the house (or less than 5 minutes if you take your car and there is free parking at the station). ‘Downline’ is Newport (approx. 10 minutes) and Cardiff (approx. 20 minutes). It goes on to West Wales if you fancy a day out. The train line also goes ‘Upline’ to Manchester and calls at various historic towns / cities along the way. Cwmbran is conveniently situated for jumping on to the M4 and you can drive to Cardiff in under 30 minutes or Bristol in about 40 minutes. Other things to see or do in or around the Cwmbran area are: •Roman Amphitheatre and museum in Caerleon (just 15 minutes away). •Tredegar House & Duffryn Gardens in Newport (approx. 20 minutes away) •Heritage Railway in Blaenavon (approx. 15 minutes away) •Big Pit and the Iron Works in Blaenavon (Heritage site) •Landegfedd reservoir with walks and water sports available (approx. 10 minute drive) •Cwmcarn Forest Drive and Cwmcarn Mountain Bike Centre (less than 30 minutes’ drive) •Lots of castles…well this is Wales after all!! •A visit to Cardiff is a must as it’s a lovely friendly capital city where you will find museums; castle; the Principality rugby stadium; Cardiff Bay and loads more Parking I live in a cul-de-sac so parking can on occasions be tight but there is safe on-street parking. Miscellaneous: If you can’t get about to do some sightseeing as you are staying on business I’m sure you’ll be back at some point to discover what’s in the area. The house rules are fairly simple – no smoking in the house + no shoes / food / drink in the carpeted areas. The most important thing however is…..relax and enjoy yourself! I really hope you enjoy your stay with me and I’m looking forward to meeting you. Carole
Close to town centre and amenities. I live in a 2 bedroomed mid-link house.

I provide a continental style breakfast, with choice of cereals, fresh fruit, plain yoghurt, croissants and toast, and of course tea and coffee. Please let me know if you have any dietary intolerance. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen / dining area and the main lounge, and the arrangements for this can be discussed when you check in. Please contact me if you have any specific requirements

Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the metallurgical and extractive industries of the area, along with the development of the canals and railways, provided the impetus to the expansion of Pontypool and its surrounding villages and communities. its very green here and we love out doors stuff like shooting fishing and mountain biking.. the walks are bracing or leisurely based on your inclination and the people are really friendly the outlying areas vary from the true Valleys where Tom Jones was born to buzzy Abergavenny and Ask
