Dip your toes into the rural 1950's with a stay in our comfy, fully refurbished, airfloat caravan. Set in its own private garden with bbq area , outdoor fire pit and dining table. Collect eggs fresh from the chickens and don't forget to pet the pigs!
This is a really unusual caravan that we imported from the States a few years ago and have tastefully restored. We moved on to our land in it 7 years ago - but have since moved into our converted barn and rent this space out. It is a vintage ( 1957) Airfloat - a rival to the more common 'Airstream'. 1957 was their 25th year of production so all their trailers made that year were anodised in GOLD!! It has a large (for a caravan) bedroom at one end with shower and basin but it has a dividing door and also a double sofabed at the other end if you need to sleep kids - or have had a row! The toilet is a short, OUTSIDE , walk away in our utility block where and we also have another larger shower, washing machine , dryer, deep freeze and microwave. We have 5 kune kune pigs and 2 jacob sheep, chickens ( a cockerel!) cats and dogs. We try to make our small holding as interactive as possible and all our animals are very friendly and safe for children to interact with - under parental supervision. Our veg is available on a seasonal basis and is all organic - even our eggs! Enjoy! ;) PLEASE NOTE - FOR GROUPS OF 4 OR MORE we have a small caravan you can rent if you would like a bit more privacy and don't want to use the sofa bed . If there's more than more than 4 of you then you will HAVE to use this caravan so PLEASE BE AWARE OF THAT ! It has electricity, a TV and its own cooking facilities for cups of tea in the mornings It will only be rented out in conjunction with the larger caravan. It’s free if you book more than 4 people and a £10/night supplement if you’re just using it as an additional space . Tents can also be pitched in the garden of the airfloat caravan or if there’s lots of you then we have an overspill field and tents will be charged £5/night PLEASE NOTE In holiday time it is offered on a min booking of 2 nights though there's a 20% discount if you book for 7 nights - (the price will be automatically be adjusted by airbnb) . On one Sunday or sometimes a Monday, each month, our local banger racing stadium in Smeatharpe hosts a demolition derby or banger racing. Depending on which way the wind is blowing sometimes you can hear the cars quite loudly - Not one of my guests has ever complained about this - some even go to the races, but I always feel bad about the disruption to our normally tranquil setting and will try to warn you if your booking should fall over one of these days. ( I don't always know til too late!) Children aged 5 and under are free so don't include them in the booking - but do tell me in a message ! Basic breakfast things are provided for purchase at cost price .
We are right on the Somerset/Devon / Dorset border in an area of outstanding natural beauty known as 'the Blackdown hills' . We're right on top of the hill so it can be a bit windswept in the winter but you get lovely skies if its clear. The location is generally very peaceful but not so remote that you cant access a shop and a pub within 10 minutes- oh and our mobile phones mostly work! Taunton, Honiton, Wellington and Chard are all 8 miles from us. The Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis is only a 1/2 hr drive away. Though the quieter beaches of Bere and Branscombe closer still and arguably more beautiful! Diggerland is only 25 mins away and popular with smaller children. The pretty university town of Exeter is only 40 mins away with Bristol a fairly accessible 70 mins away. The true beauty however, lies in the much ignored , often bypassed , local area that has many beautiful walks in ancient beech forests, quirky pubs and colourful locals. We have lots of leaflets in the caravan detailing the hidden gems of the Blackdown hills but also lots of different inside or outside games if you d just prefer to stay and relax at home.

Real peace and quiet but easy to get to. Flexible hosts and a good breakfast provided if you want it.

The cottage has a lovely feel, with wood burner and Aga. Rural, but easy access from the M5, and parking for two cars. Fabulous place to use as a base for good walking & exploring the South West. A car is necessary & a desire to be off the beaten track, although good food & beers a 10-15 min walk to the village. Large rooms, comfortable furnishings, quality linens. Fully self contained with central heating and everything that you would need to make an enjoyable break.
A quiet cottage attached to Walders Court, a grade II listed property dating from the 1600's. Used as the setting for the novelist R.D. Blackmore's novel, Perlycross, he being more famous as the author of Loorna Doone. Private and tucked away with your own entrance. Ideal for those needing a stopover, easy access from M5, J26 or J27, or those seeking a base to explore. Excellent walking, and a short 45-60 minute drive to Exmoor and Dartmoor. Entrance is via a flag path that leads from the parking area to the front stable door of the Cottage. The front door leads directly into the kitchen/dining area. This is a spacious room, equiped with an Aga for cooking and warmth, (separate heating system on thermostat to ensure the cottage stays warm) dishwasher, and washing machine, plenty of cupboard storage and a small fridge freezer. A kitchen table, large enough to seat six completes the area. An open staircase leads from the kitchen to the upstairs bedroom. The bedroom overlooks the entrance courtyard and the entrance gate. Furnished simply, with a 5' bed, comfortable mattress & quality linens. En-suite bathroom, with bath, washbasin and toilet. Returning to the kitchen. From the kitchen, three shallow steps lead you into a small open plan cloakroom area, with storage for coats and shoes. Access to the ground floor shower room and toilet is located here. The cloakroom leads to the living area. The living area is a light and airy space, with a small woodburning stove. It is furnished with a two seater settee, and a two seater pull out bed settee. Television and wifi access available in the living area. Please note - we are a rural community with slow broadband speeds. If you wish to stream movies, the broadband often fails. It is reliable for emails and other applications that need less speed. Outside, access from the front door is the small side garden. This is for your sole use while you are at the cottage. The garden is surrounded by a shrub hedge, beyond which is a country lane. As the season progresses the garden becomes more private and secluded as the shrubs become leafy. During the winter the garden is more exposed due to the nature of this hedge. BBQ and fire pit available for your use. Points to note. The ground floor living room can be easily used as a bedroom, with the shower room close by. The lounge opens from the cloakroom area, and although there are no doors, because of the dogleg style, there is privacy if it is to be used as a sleeping area. The main bedroom is accessed from the open plan stairs that lead from the kitchen, so any noise from the kitchen will be easily heard from the bedroom. Some windows, overlook the courtyard of the main house. These will not affect the privacy of the Cottage, as you cannot see into the Cottage from the courtyard. Finally, for those very tall, (over 6ft) the shower is fairly compact due to restricted ceiling height - feedback from guests are that the shower area is more than adequate for tall persons!
We live at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in Devon. We sit underneath The Beacon, a short 10-15 minute hike up the hill to a fabulous 400 year old ancient monument used to call all good men and true, to arms, to ward off the Spanish invasion. The Blackdowns are one of the Westcountry's hidden gems, forming a tranquil, beautiful, and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon and Somerset border. Steep ridges, high plateau, valleys and springs create a charming mosaic of countryside dotted with farms, villages and ancient features. We are a 15-20 minute walk from our local village, where you can find The Culm Valley Inn, renowned for it's locally sourced food, real ales and lively atmosphere, a true village pub. Crossing the ancient packhorse bridge will bring you along to the Strand Stores, great for a good cup of tea and slice of cake, all home made, with lots of goodies to take away. We are equal distance between the North and South Devon Coastline. An hours journey can take you to the delights of these shores, into the moors of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Slightly further afield is the Eden project, but very accessible as a day trip. If you are a National Trust member, we have several properties on our doorstep for you to explore. 10 minutes from the M5 and an easy drive to both North and South Devon coasts (30-45 mins) The Shed is a set in a secluded part of our garden with beautiful views across the fields and a view of the Culmstock Beacon. It is separate from the house with an en suite shower and toilet, a small kitchen area with fridge-freezer and a patio for your exclusive use. It has underfloor heating. Perfect for couples but a double pull out bed can be provided for children. It has TV and WIFi.
The Shed is a new build that offers peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. Tea and coffee are provided along with basic cooking equipment. Breakfast is not provided but, at your request, we can supply basics such as fresh bread, marmalade, butter and locally sourced eggs for your arrival. If you don’t feel like getting your own breakfast there is an excellent café/deli 3 minutes walk away that does a very satisfying breakfast. Also excellent for lunch! The local riverside pub is a short 5 minutes’ walk through the village and serves very good food both at lunch time and in the evenings. There are plenty of great walks, or just simple strolls along the river. For cyclists, this is an idyllic location. For example, Beer, on the Jurassic Coast is a 50 mile round trip – also Exmoor and Dartmoor are on the radar for enthusiastic cyclists. There are many shorter round trips to be enjoyed for those who do not want to go so far. Both my husband and I are keen cyclists and would be able to give help and advice on the best local rides. BIkes can be securely housed during your stay. Or simply come and relax, breath in the Devon air and enjoy the peace and quiet of the gorgeous countryside.

Situated in the lee of Penncross Hill, just outside of the village of Hemyock, Sunnybank commands stunning views of the Culm Valley and surrounding Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sunnybank is located near enough Hemyock for convenient access to its shops, pubs and amenities but far enough away to make this a secluded rural retreat ideal for a peaceful holiday. Sunnybank has been furnished to a very high standard with all the needs of holiday guests in mind. There is an open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen opening out onto one of the two garden patios, ideal for relaxed holiday living. There are 4 spacious bedrooms 2 with en suite shower rooms and 2 share a large family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. This self-catering villa offers light and airy accommodation all on one level (apart from one step into and out of the dining area) and would make an ideal venue for a family get-together or celebration. This really is the most beautiful of getaways - The space is beautifully decorated, cosy and clean. Easily accessible, under 2 miles from junction 27 M5 and Tiverton Parkway. Musicians and Writers find this a useful retreat to work in. Dogs are not allowed in the bnb but they are welcome to stay with our dogs in the lobby next to the bnb where they can be as wet and muddy as they please, just so long as they are well behaved.
Although it is easily accessible, we are in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by farmland. There are no street lights so the stars look wonderful most nights. The pool (closed for the winter) has a swim pump that was developed for Olympic swimmers so it can be fierce - or as gentle as you like. There is a boat building workshop on the premises, and I am about to renovate the old stable so there is usually something going on though you have your private space, with a garden. There are plenty of herbs growing, and I have labelled most of them, so do help yourselves.
There are some lovely walks and a couple of National Trust properties locally. We are just an hours drive from Bristol, and you can visit anywhere in Devon and Somerset for a day trip. Next Spring we will have the swimming pool.

We are blessed to be situated in such a peaceful and restful location but within 15 minutes you are at the M5 motorway and major supermarkets so we feel we have the absolute best of both worlds! We are in a semi rural location just outside the small hamlet of Sheldon. Surrounded by South Plantation Woodland Trust to the South and to the West we are blessed with uninterrupted views to the horizon. We are close to Ashill to the North West - local pub the Ashill Inn is fantastic, Blackborough to the South. Dunkeswell village is under 15 mins away which has a local supermarket, post office, cash machine & petrol station. Also in Dunkeswell is the airfield with restaurant and Go kart track.

This cosy, spacious apartment forms part of The Old Butchers - a large property home to an arts and crafts studio. We are located in the heart of Uffculme, a pretty village with two pubs, a café, fish and chips bar and two local shops. The area is great for dog walking, hiking, fishing and cycling with the river Culm close by. Uffculme is close to junction 27 and mid distance between Exeter and Taunton with a nearby rail link at Tiverton Parkway.
The flat at The Old Butchers is a self-contained annexe with an entrance via the craft studio at the front of the property. Don’t feel shy about looking around the studio! You’re welcome to use the extra space for colouring or other crafty pastimes!
Our village has a square with a cafe and a Co-op where everyone parks! The centre features little cottages that meander through narrow roads, past a medieval church and down to the river Culm. An old working wool museum named Coldharbour Mill is just a short walk from the property down an old mineral line.

The Garden room is a very simple light warm space for two people, with its own bathroom and sitting space. Private access is via the garden gate with parking at the front of our house. You are welcome to share the garden, chickens, and our very bouncy dog Ruby. An excellent opportunity just off the M5 to enjoy the countryside, local pub (across the road), and friendly people. There are endless walks along the river often rewarded in seeing a kingfisher or maybe an otter.
The garden room has underfloor heating with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the birds in the garden. Although we are situated in the middle of the village the garden is very quiet. There is tea and coffee making equipment, plus a small fridge. I have recently added a desk to the room, making an excellent work space.The local pub and shop both sell excellent food, including a slap up breakfast; both are a very easy walk.
Culmstock is situated just off the M5 and is a brilliant stop over on any journey. Easy access to the south Devon coast, Exmoor and many other beautiful locations. If you wish to spend sometime exploring the countryside or just chilling out, it’s the place for you.

Alternatively, curl up with a book in front of the log burner, or sit outside in warmer weather and admire the outstanding views, before wandering down to the friendly pub in nearby Upottery for a pint of our local Otter Ale and a hearty meal.
The pretty village of Upottery has a friendly village pub, The Sidmouth Arms, serving great food. The area has some fantastic walks, small country lanes, numerous footpaths, thatched cottages and plenty of wildlife. A short 10 minute drive takes you to the bustling market town of Honiton famous for its antique shops. The cathedral city of Exeter is only 25 minutes away and you can get to the Jurassic coast in half an hour. The fishing village of Beer being a favourite of ours, the coastal path from here to Branscombe is stunning.

    The Roost is a new self-contained loft with its own secure garage below which borders pasture farmland. This small hamlet is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with no street lighting and stunning views across the Culm Valley. There are country walks from your door, with pubs nearby. Dogs are welcome, but please understand that sheep and cows need to live in peace in the field right next door.
    The Roost is accessed via curved garden steps which lead to a stable door. The main room is spacious, light and airy with comfy sofa and dining table. Enjoy breakfast at the large balcony window opening straight onto the neighbouring fields. The contemporary and stylish kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge with small freezer compartment. The bathroom has a large walk-in power shower with twin heads. The roomy bedroom has fitted wardrobes with more field views to the nearby woods. We use ecological products as much as possible and reduce or recycle where we can. Outside, you have a private balcony and deck that is just perfect for sundowners. We start you off with a pint of local milk, teas, coffee and cereals but let us know if you would prefer non-dairy milk. Underneath the loft is a secure garage space with washer, dryer and sink. Just perfect for storing your bike or classic car, surfboards or boat.
    Hemyock and Culmstock both have pubs that serve fabulous food, and there are many others just a few miles away. Breakfast at The Strand in Culmstock is highly recommended. There is a working woollen mill museum at Uffculme - 5 miles away and the tow-path of the peaceful Grand Western Canal is nearby.

On the edge of the Blackdown Hills and in a peaceful rural location, we are only 5 mins from the M5. Exmoor, Dartmoor and both the North and South coasts are within easy drives.
    The Loft has been newly refurbished to a high standard, has bright walls and painted roof trusses, and has been furnished and decorated with antiques, vintage signs and contemporary art works. It has it's own entrance with steps to the first floor, and you can park right outside. There is a lovely outside seating area, complete with an outside table and chairs - perfect for a spot of alfresco dining. Fast Fibre Broadband with reliable wifi 40" Smart HD TV Nespresso coffee maker We also have a second apartment, the Old Stable in the same building as well as a large 2 bedroom thatched cottage opposite the Loft.     Smithincott is a hamlet located about 1/2 mile from the village of Uffculme, which has two shops, two pubs and a cafe. There are lovely walks straight from the farm, including the River Culm which is 5 minutes walk away. The area is great for cycling, and there are various pubs in striking distance.

Stay in a beautiful house in a friendly village, right in the heart of the picturesque Devon Countryside and the River Culm. It's Perfect for Walking, cycling or simply enjoying our lovely village with its quaint Tea Rooms and cosy pub 5 minutes walk away. Perfect for families, couples or friends.
    We would love to welcome you to join us in a private annex in part of our 400 year old Devonshire house. You will have access to your own separate entrance hallway. There is then a kitchen area for preparing basic meals with a small fridge and microwave along with basic crockery, tea and coffee facilities and a toaster. Should you need anything else I’m sure we can source it for you! The stairs then lead up to a big glamorous large king size room with a king bed and single bed, (a cot bed is also available on request) a dining area with a table and 4 chairs, bathroom with shower and then another double bedroom with a cupboard for hanging and storing clothes. Towels, bedding toiletries,toys and books for the kids are also provided. Friendly Dogs are very welcome to stay providing they have their own bed to sleep in and not the guest beds! We can provide locked bike storage if you are cycling in the area. We don't provide breakfast but there is an award winning Tea rooms 5 minutes walk away that provide an excellent breakfast menu for you to enjoy should you so wish. (It is advisable to book this beforehand if possible, let me know if you require this and I can book it for you) The Culm Valley Inn pub beside the riverbank serve delicious food and Devonshire ales also 5 minutes walk away. (booking advisable) The stunning Jurassic Coast, the quaint seaside resort of Lyme Regis, and Beer are all 30 mins away, Exmoor and Dartmoor about 40 minutes away so its in a perfect location for exploring the surrounding area or simply enjoy the beautiful rivers, walks or cycling from our doorstep!

    Situated on a quiet, semi-working farm in the tiny hamlet of Curscombe, Hunters Moon boasts charming features and is elegantly furnished throughout with great attention to detail. Looking out over lush green fields, numerous countryside walks are on the doorstep, or guests can paddle in the stream and have a picnic. There are wonderful views and an abundance of birdlife, and wildlife, including foxes, deer, badgers and hares, are often spotted whatever time of year you stay!     Beech Cottage at Southlands Farm is a lovely self contained property set in the midst of 11 acres, on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. Situated adjacent to our farmhouse, across a pretty gravelled courtyard, the cottage is warm and comfortable with books and games to keep you entertained. The bedrooms have views of the orchard and tennis court, which you are welcome to use, along with the table tennis in the courtyard. It is a charming spot.
    With the market town of Honiton a short drive away, and the beaches of Devon and Dorset close enough for fresh fish and chips, Dunkeswell is well located to enjoy both rural and coastal activities. There is a small airfield close by where enthusiasts can enjoy parachuting and gliding, whilst go Karting and horse riding are all within a short drive away. For those who like sailing there are various clubs in Seaton and Axemouth that offer short courses. Lakeview Manor is within walking distance to Beech cottage and offers a restaurant and bar, whilst there are country pubs a few miles further.

The cabin shares nine acres of woodland with a friendly off grid community, but is positioned in its own secluded woodland glade. Perfect for nature lovers looking for somewhere to retreat, to do nothing, to contemplate or go and do, who are not afraid of walking five minutes through the woods, over little bridges and a beautiful rough path to get to the cabin.
    The A Corn is a oak timber frame "Hansel & Greta" little house made by Jake Jackson a Devon famed oak timber framer. It was built using traditional techniques and materials It's quite small and comfortable. The water on tap is delicious as it comes from our own spring. If booking in the winter months please refer to WINTER NOTES further down on OTHER THINGS TO NOTE It's on the edge of the woods where oak and beech trees reign over an array of grasses, moss, trees and shrubs typical of the area, overlooking a valley of old pastures. The now boggy areas were fish ponds run by monks in the 1600's There are untouched areas of slushy ground where trees grow, age and fall. Next to the cabin there is the bath house with an excellent view . There are badger sets near by and a colony of bats lives in the woods. It's a birders paradise!

    The cottage is open plan with living and kitchen area downstairs with a large mezzanine floor comprising bedroom and bathroom ( bath and shower) upstairs. There is a king- sized bed and optional junior bed and / or travel cot upstairs and a full- sized double bed settee downstairs to provide maximum flexibility. The cottage was completely rebuilt and refitted three years ago. In cooler days the cottage benefits from a large woodburner which makes the whole space comfortable and cosy. It's easy to use and we will help you ...and provide the logs!
    We live in a pretty rural area on the edge of a friendly mid- Devon village with pub, post office, church and primary school. However we are only 3 miles from the M5 so there is excellent access to Exeter all parts of Devon, Somerset and even Cornwall. The nearest coastal village/ resort is Beer - 40 mins drive. This is not a particularly touristy area but offers a taste of 'real' Devon as well as good access to Dartmoor, Exmoor, and both North and South coasts. For more specialist interests there is a gliding centre nearby and also several coarse and trout fisheries on the doorstep as well as the full range of other rural pursuits.

Our location provides a rural retreat in beautiful countryside yet we are only 5 minutes drive from the A30 making Odle Farm a great base to explore all that Dorset, Devon and Somerset have to offer.
    The Blackdown Hills is a traditional friendly farming community. Enjoy far reaching views of patchwork fields dotted with cows and sheep, in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You really do feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle of the 20th century. Get the best of both worlds with countryside walks on your doorstep but being within half an hours drive o the Jurassic coast (World Heritage Site).

    A fully renovated and wonderfully 70's retro caravan enjoying a gorgeous rural setting in the heart of Devon. The caravan is located by itself through an orchard and enjoys glorious views across the valley. There is one double bedroom, seating area with 2 sofa benches and table plus a food prep area with sink. Further amenities such as bathroom and toilet are located in the farmhouse. The caravan has its own area of garden with fire pit and tree swing. A camping cooker is also provided.
    We have an area in the the farmhouse for guests with bathroom and access to a freezer space.

    'Badgers Retreat' Norwegian self catering lodge set in breath taking grounds and over looking two lakes in the Blackdown Hills AONB, Devon. Private parking and own guests entrance. Perfectly located to explore the coast (25 mins away), Exeter (25 mins), Honiton (15 mins) and Dartmoor/Exmoor (upto 45 mins). Total peace and quiet. Stunning woodland walks on your doorstep. Local pub within 15 mins drive, local shops 12 mins away. larger supermarkets (which all deliver) within 15 minutes.
    Sleeps 6 - x1 King bedroom and x2 twin rooms each with two single beds, separate bathroom with walk-in shower, fully fitted kitchen, lounge/diner with tv and dvd player. All bed linen provided (no towels), toilet paper, tea and coffee, tea towels and washing up kit. Warm, cosy and nothing but the wildlife and views.
    We are blessed to be situated in such a peaceful and restful location but within 15 minutes you are at the M5 motorway or A30 and major supermarkets so we feel we have the absolute best of both worlds! We are in a semi rural location just outside the small hamlet of Sheldon. Surrounded by South Plantation Woodland Trust to the South and to the West we are spoiled with uninterrupted views to the horizon. We are close to Ashill to the North West, Blackborough to the South. Dunkeswell village is under 15 mins away which has a local supermarket, post office, cash machine & petrol station. Also in Dunkeswell is the airfield with restaurant and Go kart track. PLEASE NOTE - Lake construction project commencing October 2019. Maybe more noise than normal!! Please message before booking for further details.
