We had a really good experience staying at this place. We did not get to meet Matz, but Sam was gracious enough to welcome us and show us where things are. He even explained the garbage sorting to us. The neighborhood is quiet and the Tokyu Setagaya line is right behind the street. It ends at Sengganjaya station where you can transfer lines to get to other places. This was very useful for us during the four nights we stayed with them. The towels were provided and Sam changed them everyday. The room was pretty spacious for two people, and the pocket wifi provided was very useful. Also, the manga (comic books) in the toilet are in English. I thought that was considerate. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend this place to people traveling to Tokyo.

Matz était absent pour le travail au moment de notre séjour mais Sam était un excellent hôte et sortit de sa façon de nous assurer que nous apprécions notre temps à Tokyo. La chambre est propre et les serviettes étaient fournis chaque jour. L'appartement est facilement accessible par les transports en commun, nous avons personnellement trouvé le bus le meilleur moyen de se déplacer. La chambre apparaît exactement comme il est répertorié. Nous avons apprécié notre séjour et j'y retournerais volontiers si nous visitons Tokyo à nouveau.

Sam is a great host, providing a comprehensive guide and was very accomodating to last minute requests. The room was good, with fresh towels and soap provided daily. The location is 20 minutes away from central Shibuya and is very convenient. Highly recommended!

Whether you're exploring Japan for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, I cannot recommend Kentaro & Kyoko as hosts enough. Located in the suburban area of Setagaya district, Kentaro & Kyoko's home is the perfect base for any sort of adventures you might have while exploring Tokyo. Kyodo station is easily accessible within a 5-min walk and serves as a connection station for most major lines. Along the way, you'll pass by dozens of small cafes, shops and restaurants all unique to the Kyodo area. The environment evokes the feeling of a small community and throughout my time there I began to build habits in the morning such as stopping by coffee shops before hopping on the train that made me feel like I'd been living there for years. As hosts Kentaro & Kyoko were brilliant. I'd be greeted every morning with tailored suggestions of local places to see and eat that normally wouldn't have occurred to me if I were just following the usual travel guide. Furthermore, their expertise of the area in combination with their excellent communication capabilities made their home and instant book for me. Ideally, the space is best suited for 1-2 people. It's got almost every amenity you could ask for and Kentaro & Kyoko even went out of their way to provide spares of the consumables in the event that something ran out. Their approach to having guests couldn't be more thorough and well-thought out. So, if you're looking for somewhere that is a bit quieter than the hustle of Shibuya and Shinjuku but still within a reasonable distance, this is the place.

Setagaya is a wonderful neighbourhood. This studio apartment was perfect for exploring Tokyo. It was our first time so learning about the subway and trains was a fun challenge! Kentaro's place is located at Kyodo station on the Odakyu line, ten minutes from Shinjuku where all the connecting trains leave from. Kyodo area is charming and quaint full of izakayas, and shops. This area is mostly pedestrian and bicycle traffic so it's very quiet and easily walkable everywhere. The apartment was exactly as described. Luckily there was heat since it was chilly winter. The suite is on the third floor, stair walk up and had good light. The bathroom was clean and extremely tiny but this is normal for Tokyo. Kentaro was extremely helpful and communicated almost everyday with suggestions and local attractions. It would have been great to meet them but they made check in easy and quick with their instructions. We hope to be back!

Kentaro & Kyoko's apartment is great. You could almost compare it to a stay in a hotel. The neighbourhood is quiet, the bed is comfortable and the pictures of the apartment are real. They are very responsive in their communication. Everything is well explained and straight forward. The temporary letting contract they require is in English, limited in size (you can read it in less than 5 minutes) and doesn't contain anything unusual. The apartment is 20 minutes from Shinjuku station and is therefore reasonably well located considering the size of Tokyo. The metro line connecting Kyodo Station to Shinjuku station is private and not covered in most metro passes. However, you only pay 185 yen one-way, so it's not a big deal in the great scheme of things. All in all a very pleasant experience. I definitely recommend staying here! Julian

Realment gaudim de la nostra estada a Tòquio i estic molt content d'haver triat el lloc de Lina a Setagaya per quedar-se. Hi ha un munt de restaurants a prop, una de Lawson al carrer i també una farmàcia a poques quadres de distància, a prop de l'estació d'autobusos. Tot el necessari es resumeixen bàsicament! Molt recomanable!

Lina és molt servicial i el lloc és molt espaiosa i còmoda. El llit pot resultar una mica tova per a algunes persones, però m'ha agradat. Bolet gaya té algun bon menjar local que obre fins tard. Per a aquells que vulguin experimentar l'estil de vida real de cada dia, això és molt recomanable.

Ce fut ma première fois en utilisant Airbnb et je suis resté chez Kimie-san pour trois nuits. Le premier jour, elle m'a envoyé des directions à sa maison avec une carte détaillée, donc j'eu aucune difficulté à y arriver. La chambre et la salle de bains sont complètement isolés de la salle de séjour où Kimie-san et sa fille vit. Cela m'a permis de passer mon temps seul se sentant très à la maison dans la maison. Kimie-san m'a donné une clé de la maison, donc je suis en mesure de revenir à la maison très tard dans la nuit sans avoir à vous soucier de les réveiller. I enjoyed staying at Kimie's place as she made me feel welcome and frequently checked in if I need anything while also respecting my privacy. The bed is incredibly cozy and I was able to adjust the room temperature to my own preference. Water and tea were provided on a small desk. Even though I had some trouble finding the place after a late night flight it was much more easier to access in daylight once I had figured out which bus to take from/to Shibuya. I would recommend to stay at Kimie's place.

Like the previous reviews said, the host family were really accommodating. The whole family welcomed us at the station and drove us to the apartment even though it was just a 10 minutes walk from the station. They explained everything really well once we were in the apartment. There is a bus stop nearby which is a 5 minutes walk from the apartment and it takes you to Shibuya Station which we think is more convenient than walking to Sakurashinmachi station. On our last day, the host family, again, drove us to the bus station so we could get to the airport despite the heavy rain. We would definitely stay with Taketo & Taeko again if we ever come back to Tokyo!

Five of us stayed for 2 nights in this cozy and cleaned apartment. Good location with many yummy eateries and commuting to/fro Shibuya station is a breeze. We enjoyed our slow walk to/fro apartment and the bus stop. It's a quiet neighbourhood with a lovely park full of trees and plants. Only downside is the steep staircase that leads to the apartment. For travellers with big and heavy lugguage, getting up and down may be challenging. But Rui and her mum were very kind to pick us from the train station and also provided door to door service of our lugguages. They were most hospitable and helpful with a creatively drawn location map with detailed information on bus routes, eateries etc and were most patient in answering all our questions. Yes will definitely stay in this apartment if we ever visit Tokyo again.

Airin was very attentive to our needs. Place is very new and clean. I was a little worried about the size initially but the single bedroom could fit 4 futons nicely and the living room had a huge sofa bed as back up. It was a great stay with many shops and amenities around.

Teru's apartment appears exactly as it does in the pictures - bright, clean, cosy, equipped with the essentials and in a very convenient location to the supermarket, train station and local restaurants. Teru was very prompt and thorough in answering any questions we had and gave us very clear instructions about how to get to the apartment, making our check-in very straightforward. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Teru's apartment and the 4 of us would happily stay again the next time we are in Tokyo. Thank you!

Very great experience in Tokyo. The flat is in a good location. 1-2minutes to 24hr convenient store, mtr station. Many places to eat nearby. Teru has provided portable wifi as well. This was my first time in Japan and booking via AirBnb. I was not sure if everything will work out but it worked out very well! Yui's apartment is really close to shibuya, just 3 stations with the denetoshi line. The station to get tram to shibuya is just 30 seconds away. It's a very cozy apartment with everything you need. The area is also very nice, a lot of restaurants, 7/11s and other convenient stores! Yuis lovely mother picked us up and took us to the apartment. I stayed 6 days and everything was fine. Well recommended!!!

Yui's place is great! She is such a friendly host and met me at the station to walk me to the apartment. She really helped to make sure that we were comfortable in the apartment. The apartment is a perfect size and has everything you would need. The location is right next to a station with easy access to the major tourist locations in Tokyo. Be sure to try the bakery on the first floor!

Yui and her family are the best hosts we've stayed with. We have stayed with her twice and she will be our first choice the next time we return to Tokyo. Staying in Komazawa and getting to know Yui's family was a highlight of our 3 week trip through Japan.

滞在期間中は雨だったのですが、駅からも凄く近く、大変便利でした。また、傘も置いて頂いてあり、気遣いも良かったです。清潔感あるお部屋でした。高速沿いで音が少し気になりましたが、私はまた必ず、利用したいと思うお部屋でした。

Ce fut un très bel endroit pour rester. La chambre est près d'une station de métro à seulement 3 arrêts de Shibuya. Il y a de nombreux restaurants et magasins à proximité de la salle. Par temps clair, vous pouvez voir Mt. Fuji. Yui est très gentil et serviable. Dans l'ensemble, nous avons apprécié notre séjour.

Pros: The apartment is in a convenient location that has restaurants, 7-11, super market nearby; It also has washing machine that can do laundry; The host Yumi is very responsive for any questions or requests Cons: It takes 10~15 mins walk to the subway station then another 2 stops to Shibuya; Trash is a big challenge for international guests, Japan has very restricted rules on trash classification but there is no instructions provided by the host on how to do that; nor the host would help to handle the trash or clean the room during the stay. For long stays this is a big problem. We also found bugs and louse in the apartment

지도를 보면 아시겠지만 산겐자야 역 바로 앞은 아니고 살짝 거리가 있습니다. 빠른 걸음으로 5분 정도 걸어야해요. 그리고 방에 거울이 딱 하나에요.ㅋㅋㅠ 그것 말고는 되게 깨끗하고 와이파이포켓도 있고(이건 집을 제외한 건물 안이나 지하철에서는 잘 안터집니다.) 침대도 더블 2개에 소파까지 있어서 4명이서 무리 없이 지냈습니다. 에어컨도 시원하고... 숙소 건너편의 맥주집이 정말 환상이에요. 와이프분이 한국어를 할 줄 아시는데 정말 친절하십니다.ㅋㅋㅋ 숙소 주변에 편의점이랑 맛있는 음식점들이 많아서 식사는 거의 숙소 근처에서 해결했던 것 같네요. 지불한 돈이 아깝지 않게 지낼 수 있습니다.

For the place: The neighborhood is very nice. There are many grocery stores and restaurants. The apartment can fit to 4 adult peoples, very clean, but has no iron and rather far from Sangen-jaya subway station (about 10-15 minutes walking). For the host: Yumi is a very nice and quick responsive person.

Great host, perfect and fast communication. Cosy Apt. close to amazing little and cheap food places and metro station which will bring you to Shibuya station within 5 minutes. Its my 3rd visit in Japan/Tokyo and this is definitely my favourite neighbourhood to hang out after busy day of filming! Recommended !

Motonari was always available to reply when needed, great PDF file provided to how to walk to the apartment and to collect the key. Many amenities provided, made travelling easier and lighter. The area actually has lots of restaurants and supermarket and many of them open late or 24hrs. Just that it was a little far from the station from what was expected and very cold bathroom. Apart from this everything was amazing and money's worth for a apartment to stay in Tokyo (2stops away from shibuya) ! Thank you :)

Sangenjaya is the perfect location for me to visit all the places I needed to go. I stayed at Motonari's flat last year. This flat is quiet, simple and comfortable. I will definitely be a repeat booker.

A friend and I stayed at the apartment and were happy with the value compared to Tokyo's expensive hotels. The flat was cozy and comfy; Montonari did an detailed and thoughtful job of preparing a manual that explained everything and he was very responsive via email when we had questions like how to reset the pocket WiFi (make sure to ask before it reaches its limit). Location was convenient to grocery stores, restaurants, and the subway – only a couple stops from Shibuya. Kitchen was tight but useful enough to make breakfast, snacks or simple one-pan meals.

Very clean and organized place with all the amenities you need. Just show up with your clothes and everything will be fine. Motonari is a most polite host and will take care of your every need. Extremely responsive on email and kind. I would definitely stay again. The location is equidistant between Sangenjaya and Komazawadaigu stations. There is an exercise gym for 450 yen at Komazawa Olympic Park near the track if you need to workout. Thank you.

We enjoyed our stay at the apartment, everything we needed was available. To be close to Sangen-Jaya Station was great, from there to Shibuya Centre was only 3 minutes by metro. GREAT. Also supermarket a 3 minute walk from the appartment! We had a terrific time, thank you Monotari

I like most of this apartment is the heated bathroom where you can take a hot shower in heated bathroom. The room is nice and clean. The owner are friendly and helpful.

The place is clean and comfortable! Everything is well equipped and very cozy. The host is also very helpful to send us the guides checking if we need help. Nearby has supermarket as well. If only we can stay longer!

Koichi's room was very clean and cozy but there was some long hairs on the bed and floor which is not mine. Except that, I totally recommend this room! Koichi was very kind and she gave me informations couple of times before arrive.

Airinさん was incredibly helpful in by picking us up from the closest train station. The walk from the station to the apartment is totally doable, but may be a little challenging if you are carrying lots of heavy luggage. The apartment was really well equipped with everything we needed, and was very clean. We only stayed one night, so we didn't have a chance to explore the neighborhood but it was nice and quiet. Airinさん really went above and beyond for us when we were checking out. She helped facilitate trying to get a taxi, and when none were available, she drove us to the station. Was a great short stay!

Airin was a great host and picked us up from Sangenjaya station. She is very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The place is as described and is super clean. We would definitely come back!

Nice and quiet residential place to stay in Tokyo, total value for money. There are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby which is quite handy. The apartment has everything including a television (which we never ended up using.) Ryan was the best part about this listing. He communicated promptly and went out of his way to make our stay special. If you ever needed anything or had any questions you just had to ask. Thank you for a great stay!

The host was great and made us feel very welcomed! He picked us up from the train station and drove us back to it at the end of our trip and helped us plan how to travel to Mt. Fuji. The apartment was exactly as described and was very clean. The neighborhood was nice and very quiet, it was nice to return there after being in the center of Tokyo.

Ryan was an amazing host! It was our first time in Tokyo and Ryan gave us the opportunity to stay in two of his properties. They were both extremely clean and were in really good locations. He was a really helpful host, he provided us with a guidebook and was there for any questions we had. The good locations of his properties and his availability for help really made our trip a breeze!

Great place in a quiet residential area but still close enough to public transportation links (busses to major stations like Shibuya were 2 minutes walk away and the train station about 10 minutes on foot). There are 2 supermarkets and several convenience stores nearby, as well as a pharmacy and lots of restaurants as well. Ryan was really helpful and super accommodating when it came to checking in and out and was always there when we needed help or had questions about something. His directions and instructions were also really easy to understand. The apartment was perfect and one of the best places we stayed at so far and we're both pretty seasoned Tokyo Travellers. We could not have asked for more, really!! Would recommend this place without a second thought and would love to stay again. If you have a lot of luggage it might be a bit of a squeeze if there are 4 or more but with 2-3 people it is pretty much the perfect size.
