The Brook is equidistant from St Agnes, Porthtowan and Portreath with their stunning beaches with fabulous surf and acres of golden sand. Porthtowan (meaning cove of sand dunes) has some of the best surf in the UK. However it is sometimes not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful but there is an excellent surf school which operates from the beach. Portreath (meaning cove of sand) is a delightful village which extends both sides of a valley leading down into a little harbour and beach. West of the harbour entrance are two more beaches with golden sands that are popular with holidaymakers and surfers alike. The centre point on the Bissoe cycle trail that links the north and south coasts stretching from Devoran to Portreath. with predominantly off road mining trails passes the end of your drive - no driving required at all!.Tin - the powerhouse of Cornwall's industrial past. Oak wooded, heather topped valleys with crystal streams once throbbed with the racket of tin streaming - winning precious metals. Engine houses and stacks bear stark, romantic testament to a heritage borne of the bravery and determination of generations of miners and Bal maidens. The area of Mid Cornwall, south west from Truro and only a short drive inland from Falmouth is full of this industrial heritage. The Victorian towns of Camborne and Redruth - both produced world-class inventors and engineers. Camborne's Richard Trevithick created the world's first steam-powered road engine in 1801. His achievements are celebrated at Camborne's annual Trevithick Day celebrations in April. You can follow in the footsteps of Cornwall's 18th Century tin miners on the atmospheric tour of the Poldark Mine just north of Helston.Nearby is Stithians Lake, for fishing, sailing, sailboarding and recently the stunning wake-boarding championships. For views of the whole region take the roads to Carn Brea or Carn Marth above Camborne. From here you can see St Ives, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth and east to Clay Country. Near here is the Great Flat Lode Trail through the mines and high moors. These days, most of the mining has disappeared, but it is still a fascinating area to explore and is steeped in history. A highlight is to hire a bicycle and ride along the old mineral tramway now called the Bissoe Trail from Devoran to Portreath or the North Coast. The harbour town of Falmouth is within a short drive with a number of attractions for the visitor. There is the fascinating National Maritime Museum or you can take a boat trip around the spectacular Carrick Roads or sample the stylish Rick Stein's Fish & Chip Restaurant or Oyster Bar.The Helford River and Lizard Peninsula are also within easy reach. The city of Truro is only a 7 mile drive to the north east and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes. The resort of Newquay is about 12 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles. Harbourside towns & villages such as Fowey, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach. For those flying to Cornwall, the airport is within easy reach.

Stay in a secluded farmhouse set within a UNESCO world heritage site in the Cornish countryside. Within easy reach of numerous blue flag beaches and the popular towns of Truro, Falmouth and St Ives, this is an ideal base to explore the highlights of Cornwall. The house is tastefully designed and furnished throughout providing a relaxing space to unwind after a long day surfing, cycling or simply exploring the stunning coastline. The large garden is ideal for soaking up the Cornish sun.
Inside, the house offers a bright kitchen dinner with modern appliances including a dishwasher. A comfortable lounge with a wood burner is an ideal space to relax in after a day of exploring the Cornish sites. There is also formal dining room. The utility room is equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and there is also a downstairs W.C. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms and a bathroom with both a shower and a bath. Outside you will find a patio dining area with a BBQ, located near the kitchen to enjoy some AlFresco dining in the long summer evenings. A generous, well established private garden is provides a secluded spot to relax. At the bottom of the garden is a pond which is shared with Charlie and George, our resident ducks! Due to the rural nature of the property access is via a narrow single track lane wide enough for a 4x4.
Despite its rural and secluded feel, the house is in walking distance of small village with amenities including convenience stores, pubs, butcher and deli, not to mention a reasonable pasty. It is within easy reach of the cathedral city of Truro, and the more arty towns of Falmouth and St Ives.

Cosy self contained studio for two near the centre of St Agnes. Own entrance, private garden space, ensuite shower & mini kitchen with combi microwave/oven. Super kingsize/twin beds so great for couples or sharers. Close to pubs restaurants & bakeries. 15 minwalk to the nearest beach. Breakfast goodies include bread, cereal, marmalade, tea, coffee and plant/nut milk of your choice. Everything offered is vegan so take advantage of the treats offer, or just use the space as a base. All welcome.
The studio is attached to our house but feels quite separate because of its own entrance and private little garden just behind it.
St Agnes has a wonderful community feel with events throughout the year, including our very own Giant Bolster weekend in April, Street fair in May, the carnival in August and various other events throughout the year. If you’re a fan of live music the this is the place for you. There is music in the village on most Thursday and Saturday nights, and an open mic/jam at the Driftwood Spars pub on the first and third Sunday of each month from around 4pm There are cafes and shops and traditional pubs, one of which has its own micro brewery. We have two grocery shops, three bakery's (one of which is vegan) and a couple of green grocers. The pubs and restaurants in the village are really embracing veganism and we now find ourselves spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. There are also several galleries, gift shops and a museum. There are weekly drop in yoga, art classes and a film club. St Ives, Falmouth and Penzance are all within an hour of St Agnes, and have vegan cafes/options aplenty.

Located on a private lane with private parking and access through a tiered garden, The Pound is a two bedroom (connected rooms) L-shaped flat. The front door leads into the lounge with bedrooms to the right. From the left a step takes you into the kitchen with the bathroom on the left.
‘The Pound’ is a quirky two bedroom (connecting rooms) log cabin flat. It also has a lounge, kitchen and bathroom and is accessed via a zig zag path leading up from a designated parking area. When we bought the house 6 years ago, The Pound was a dog grooming parlour, hence the name, which was in a very bad state. We renovated it for two of our sons to live in and a few years on, and both sons having moved out, it is now surplus to our requirements, so have decided to rent it out for you to stay in to enjoy the Cornish experience. We have tried to think of everything you would need during your stay to make it a home from home holiday. At the front of the property there is a storage box which houses recycling bags and where your bagged rubbish can be stored for collection on a Thursday evening. As we are close to the A30, which can be seen from the front of the property, there is traffic noise outside but not within the accommodation. There is a table and 4 chairs on the patio at the front of the property but as the property is surrounded by large trees there is only direct sunlight in the morning. To the left side of The Pound there is a small gate which gives access to our garden which you are more than welcome to use on sunnier days and meet our friendly Labrador, Jago. Located between Illogan, Portreath and Redruth there is easy access by road to each. Jenn's Diner is a family-run American style diner a one minute walk away. The Track is a five acre cycle facility based near Portreath and is less than 1 mile away. The Track is suitable for ALL types of mountain bikes, E-Bikes, BMX bikes and balance bikes and all ages and abilities. Kernow Hydro pool is also situated on this site. The Cornish mining town of Redruth town is a 10 minute walk away and there is easy access to all surrounding towns and villages via the public bus and train system. Redruth is home to a variety of exceptional pasty shops, individual shops, cafes, cinema/theatre and boasts the home of the famous William Murdoch, the first man to invent domestic gaslighting. His house can be visited and his invention is celebrated with Murdoch Day every year during mid June with an exciting programme of events including children’s dance and art procession, all day music and entertainment, a street market, old time fair exhibitions and a variety of live concerts and other events around the town. Redruth also hosts an annual Pasty & Mining Festival each September. The event is focussed around the town centre. The Friday is Mining Day, the Saturday is Pasty Day and the Sunday is Memorial & Fun Day. Activities on Pasty Day include cookery demonstrations and ‘make your own pasty’. Portreath is the closest beach, being only 3 miles away. With Porthtowan, Gwithian, Hayle, St Ives, St Agnes and Perranporth all a stones’ through away on the north Cornish coast. Each beach is unique boasting beautiful golden sand, cliffs and rocks with miles of coastal paths ready to be discovered with The Pound being a great location for you to relax after any expedition, however being close to the A30 there is traffic noise in the garden, but not inside the accommodation. Overlooking both Camborne and Redruth and reaching up to 738 feet above sea level is Carn Brea which is 1.8 miles away. The Carn can be seen from most high ground in Cornwall and the monument on top easily picked out. Conversely the view from the top of the Carn takes in both coasts and a good deal of the Camborne/Redruth conurbation. What is not apparent from any distance is the size of the monument, with it being a 90 foot high granite obelisk. The huge hexagonal column was erected in 1836 in memory of Francis Bassett, Lord de Dunstaville. The Bassetts where the most important mining family in the area and had lived in Tehidy for over 700 years (Tehidy is now the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall. Now managed as a Country Park, Tehidy has over 9 miles (14.5km) of paths and 250 acres of peaceful woods and lakes to explore, together with a café and a picnic area. Francis Bassett was however the first to be elevated to the nobility due to his efforts to raise an army of miners to defend the port of Plymouth from the combined Spanish and French fleets. Another legacy of the Bassett family is Carn Brea Castle. It is suggested that it started out as an Elizabethan hunting lodge, was a Victorian folly and is now a restaurant. Carn Brea also has associations with the legendary giants of Cornwall. It is said to be the home of the giant Bolster who when standing could put his other foot on top of St Agnes Beacon over 10 miles away! Cornwall's capital city Truro is 11 miles away. Truro Cathedral is located in the centre of this thriving Cornish city and wonderfully situated in the middle of the duchy of Cornwall. Designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson, it is one of only three cathedrals in the UK which has three spires. Completed in 1910 it is a magnificent example of gothic revival architecture. A must-see place to visit in Cornwall with free entry. The Bissoe Cycle Path is a coast to coast trail that links Portreath harbour 11 miles across the county to the port of Devoran on the South coast. In the 1800s, this trail was used as a mineral tramway for the copper mines around Redruth. The Eden Project (Cornish: Edenva) is a popular visitor attraction in Cornwall. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed china clay pit and is 33 miles away. The Minack is a unique theatre perched on the cliffs high above the Atlantic ocean where they hold musicals and operas every summer, together with music, comedy and story-telling events. The Minack is 27 miles away. St Michaels Mount is 17 miles away. St Michael's Mount is a tidal island in Mount's Bay, Cornwall. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water. It is managed by the National Trust, and the castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650. St Ives is classed as the dazzling jewel in Cornwall’s crown. A picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town and listed as one of TripAdvisor’s top 10 European beaches. Here you can wander through the maze of narrow cobbled streets, independent shops and fisherman’s cottages and only 17 miles away.

A nineteenth century quirky Cornish miner's cottage in the heart of Cornwall with lots of original features. The cottage is on a quiet lane overlooking fields situated near the Bissoe trail. We've recently renovated the property throughout and this is our first season. There is an enclosed garden, sheltered courtyard and parking for 3 vehicles. The beach is a 10 minute drive away and there is excellent access to the north and south coasts.
The cottage is semi-detached and has 2 bedrooms. The ceilings are low and might be problematic if you're over 6ft 2in! You will have to mind your head in the doorways. The master bedroom has a small en-suite washroom and toilet. The kitchen has an electric range cooker, dishwasher, microwave and Belfast sink. We've installed a woodburner in the lounge which keeps the whole cottage cozy in winter. The garden is enclosed, surrounded by a Cornish Hedge. We have a sheltered south-facing courtyard which is a sun-trap and gets beautifully warm when the sun is out.
Creegbrawse, is a tiny hamlet on the Bissoe trail. The cottage is situated on a quiet lane. The village of Chacewater is a 10-minute walk away. It has 2 village shops and a pub. The Old Market has an amazing selection of restaurant-quality food and drink. Bissoe bike hire is a 5-minute drive and the trail can be accessed easily from the property. We are 5 miles from Truro and 10 miles from Falmouth. Both coasts can be reached within 20 minutes. The location is central in Cornwall- travel times by car are: Truro: 15 mins St Michaels Mount: 30 mins Godrevy beach and seal colony: 25 mins Porthtowan beach: 12 mins Tintagel: 1 hour Eden Project: 40 mins Penzance: 30 mins Falmouth: 20 mins

We are situated in a delightful rural location - it sometimes feels like we could be a million miles from the hustle and bustle, but everything needed is actually in very easy reach. For groceries and other supplies, the closest shops are: o Londis in Lanner: A small convenience store North of Bell Lane, which closes at 8pm o Co-op in Redruth: A larger convenience store on the main road in, open until 9pm o Tesco in Redruth: A reasonably sized super-market o Asda in Penryn: A larger supermaket with homegoods, clothing, etc. And the nearest filling stations are: o Gulf in Lanner, South of Bell Lane o Imperial on the A393 between Lanner and Ponsanooth Asda in Penryn typically has the lowest cost fuel. The nearest ATM is located in the Gulf filling station in Lanner. Redruth, Penryn and Falmouth are all within easy reach and have the usual range of for High street banks. If you don’t feel like cooking, the fish and chip shop in Lanner is fantastic, and Portreath Bakery (also in Lanner) sells amazing (bona fide!) Cornish pasties and other goodies. And of course being in the countryside means we have some fantastic walks directly from the farm. The vehicle gate to the left of the farmhouse leads to a bridle way which in turn leads to a network of public footpaths, including the historic and scenic mining trails. For a relatively easy 30-40 minute walk, turn right out the gate and head up the hill past the farmhouse. This will eventually lead you to the road from Lanner which you can follow back to the property in circuit.
