No. 28 is a thoughtfully restored two bedroom cottage in the heart of Brontë country. With a large garden, great views and outdoor lock up it is perfectly suited to outdoor enthusiasts as well as Brontë fans – bring your walking boots, your bikes, the dog or just a good book to read by the fire.
No. 28 has been in my family for several generations and has been recently renovated to retain its character features such as exposed stone and original beams while providing modern day comforts. The cottage has a double bedroom and a bunk bedroom so is best suited to couples or families. Up to two well behaved dogs are also welcome.

A cosy and inviting room with two leather sofas, stone floors and exposed beams, a wood burning stove and a large footstool perfect for board games or just laying out your snacks for a relaxing evening watching a film. Plenty to entertain including Smart TV, DVD player, Play Station 3, Sony music system and a range of DVDs, PS3 games, books and board games. A selection of local tourist information is also provided.
Light grey shaker kitchen, leading to utility area by back door with washing machine and hanging area for wet coats and boots. The kitchen is well equipped with gas stove, electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, DAB radio and an extensive range of crockery and cooking utensils, even Yorkshire pudding trays for your Sunday roast. A large wooden table provides sit down dining for up to 6 people.
A large French boudoir style bathroom with both a powerful shower and a bath, perfect for relaxing after a day on the moors.
A bright and sunny room with antique double bedstead and matching wardrobe and dresser.
With lovely views overlooking our rear garden and the surrounding fields, this room has a set of white bunk beds and is suitable for 2 children or 1 adult . A selection of children’s books and games are provided to help entertain our younger guests and the window has black out blinds.
In addition to front and rear courtyard areas, No. 28 has a large enclosed garden to the rear of the cottage, providing plenty of space for children and dogs to run around. The screened patio area has a picnic table, great for relaxing and watching the sunset over the moors. The garden also has a lock up shed suitable for up to 4 bikes. The rear courtyard also provides a small seating area, ideal for morning coffee and a BBQ is provided. The front courtyard has a boot rack if required.
Other things to note
A selection of household essentials is provided ( e.g. tea, coffee, oil, herbs, tinfoil, clingfilm, paper towel etc). Please feel free to use – if you finish anything, it would be appreciated if you could either leave a note to tell us or replace it.
Woodburner - A complimentary basket of wood will be provided on arrival. Further supplies can be taken from our wood store at a cost of £3 per basket (Honesty box provided). If you use the wood burner can you please ensure that the fire is out before leaving.
A fireguard is provided but please undertake your own risk assessment, particularly if you have young children. The stone slabs in the yards can be slippy when wet.
On street parking is usually available directly in front of No. 28, however parking can sometimes be tight so a map of nearby alternative parking locations will be provided.
No. 28 is a stones throw from the pub and local play park, and only a short walk to the well stocked local Coop. Oxenhope train station is a 5 minute walk, where you can hop on a steam train to historic Haworth, and explore its range of boutique shops, restaurants and bars as well as the famous Brontë Parsonage. Located on the edge of the village, No.28 is a quiet location perfect for accessing local walks, including the Brontë Way, Millennium Way and the Pennine Way, and is a great base for exploring the wider surrounding area, including the Yorkshire Dales and York.
