Welcome to my very modern, stylish property with fabulous views and a quiet, beautiful private garden.
Situated in the peaceful village of Ovingdean, with easy access to both the beach and the South Downs for walking, it is perfect for nature lovers.
The centre of Brighton is only ten minutes' drive away and there is also regular bus services with a stop right outside the house.
This property of exceptional quality has been tastefully designed and fully equipped for an unforgettable stay.
This stunning property is a modern, refurbished split level “upside down” house, typical in Ovingdean, as having the living accommodation on the first floor permits the best views.
The house is arranged with living accommodation upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs.
The main living area is a large, bright open plan space, with views over the Downs. The floor to ceiling glass doors open onto a Juliet balcony, allowing you to open the room completely in the warmer months.
For the winter months, there is a built in log burner in the brick chimney breast and a supply of logs is provided outside the kitchen door.
The sitting area has an exquisitely comfortable three seater and a two seater sofa and a large foot stall. There is also a piano which has been recently tuned.
There is a Bang & Olufsen sound system in the sitting room, which offers internet radio stations, stored music or which can connect to Spotify.
The dining area has a black glass table and eight chairs and is separated from the kitchen area by a marble top breakfast bar.
The state-of-the-art, fully-equipped kitchen has a large electric ceramic hob, with one central gas burner in addition. There are two Neff fan ovens and a separate Neff integrated microwave, which also acts as an oven. There is a Bosch dishwasher and an espresso coffee machine. The cupboards are well stocked with crockery and utensils – and there are plenty of glasses for all occasions.
Behind the main living area is the peaceful “library” room, furnished in a much more traditional style with two leather armchairs and a leather sofa. There is a vast collection of books (please feel free to browse and read them, but please do leave them there!), and there is a TV as well. This room doubles as the third bedroom. The sofa opens into a double bed – there are two tables with lamps either side and wardrobe space is available. The study is next to this room leads to the rear garden. This room has a large desk and there is plenty of space to set up your own laptops if you wish. There is also a laser printer and stationery.
The family bathroom is also upstairs. It has a free-standing double ended bath, with a hand held shower attachment. There is a basin and a WC and plush towels are provided, as well as hotel-size toiletries.
The master bedroom has a king sized bed fitted with high-quality, white cotton linen for an extra touch of luxury, as well as two bed side cabinets, wardrobes, shoe storage and two chests of drawers. There is a smart TV and this bedroom overlooks the front garden.
There is an en-suite shower room with a large shower, vanity unit and basin and WC.
The second bedroom has a double bed, two bedside cabinets, sliding glass wardrobes and plenty of drawer space.
Adjacent to the second bedroom is a shower room. This has a large enclosed shower, basin and WC.
Behind a door, you will also find the washing machine and tumble dryer.
The front garden is protected by a high wall and gates and is completely private and secure. It is a large paved area with many plants in pots – notably a large number of palms, oleander bushes, a massive datura bush and many echium pininana plants, which may be towering above the garden in flower, depending on when you visit.
The rear garden is again completely secluded. It is terraced on several levels, having a dedicated BBQ area, a dining area, a sunbathing area, a seating area around a fire pit and a summerhouse. Again, there are many palms and two large olive trees.
This will be the perfect place for you to enjoy glorious, sunny weather - be it for alfresco meals, sunset cocktails or simply soaking up some vitamin D.
Nestled in the South Downs National Park, between Roedean and Rottingdean, the house is situated in the picturesque village of Ovingdean. The name, which is Old English for 'the valley of people associated with a man called Ōfa', shows that the village has existed since Anglo-Saxon times and little seems to have disturbed its peace since.
The historic village is a conservation area. Its focus is the 11th century St Wulfram's Church. The heart of the village is very old and picturesque and, apart from the Church, there are notable buildings such as Ovingdean Grange.
The house is in the more modern area of the village, in a quiet, leafy road, leading to Beacon Hill Nature Reserve and the sea.
East Brighton Golf Club is only about 5 minutes’ drive away!
Brighton itself has a thriving café and restaurant culture, especially around the bustling Lanes with its many independent shops, bars and eateries.
Closer to the beach, there is the Palace Pier, the Sealife Aquarium and the i360 – the world's tallest moving observation platform!
There is a long stretch of seafront bars, clubs, restaurants, shops and galleries, with arcades, outside entertainment and many children's activities.
The spectacular Royal Pavilion is a must see landmark, and there are plenty of venues, museums, parks and events all year round!
The stunning South Downs are a short drive away and are ideal for a walk, bike ride or picnic, and there is a plethora of green spaces and parks for outdoor activities.
Brighton has something for everyone!
