The perfect spot for anyone who enjoys the wonderful countryside of the White Peak, with its fascinating variety of dales and rolling hills. Dale Cottage enjoys an idyllic peaceful location with superb views over Bradford Dale and beyond. The cottage is cosy, with a log fire, well-equipped and comfortable. Please note that the cottage is situated on a steep bank and is therefore unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
The spacious but cosy lounge features an open grate for making log fires. There is a separate well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there is a bedroom with a king-size bed, and a smaller room with 4 ft. three-quarter bed (against a wall on one side). Both bedrooms have lovely views. A bathroom with bath and power shower completes the accommodation. The outhouse contains a washing machine and tumble drier. Although sleeping up to four, the cottage is most comfortable for up to three adults or 2 adults and 2 children (who don't mind sharing a bed!)
An ancient ridge village set above the River Bradford, Youlgrave is one of the friendliest and most interesting villages in the Peak. It's an ideal starting point for walks, with the Bradford Dale (almost on the doorstep of Dale Cottage) joining up with Lathkill Dale, a well-known beauty spot with stunning views and wonderful wildlife. Youlgrave itself has three excellent pubs serving good food and beer, and holds many cultural and artistic events. The highspot of the village's year is the Welldressings week in mid-summer, where the locals maintain a centuries-old tradition of constructing giant tableaux entirely from petals and leaves; these well dressings are thought to represent a sign of thanks for the gift of water.

Hallyard (hall yard) House is in the quiet rural village of Over Haddon, near Bakewell, in the middle of the Peak District. Local tea rooms greet you on your walk down to the Lathkil Dale, the Peak Park's most pristine walking, swimming and fishing spot, while The Lathkil Pub boasts great food and spectacular views. The house is ideal for families or business travellers and is a perfect romantic hideaway. Gorgeous walks and stunning scenery make this a beautiful spot all year round.
Hallyard House is a modern cottage build, built from the remains of a barn which once stood on this site, on the hall yard of the now demolished Haddon House. It's well appointed and stunningly decorated... modern boutique luxury in the heart of rural England. We've recently added a wood burning stove for those cosy cold nights in, and the new SKY/Netflix package.
In Over Haddon, the Lathkil Pub is the closest watering hole and offers a range of hot meals and local ales. It is an award-winning pub with phenomenal views. Walking through Over Haddon, you're surrounded by historic farm houses, notably the home of ex MI6 chief Sir Maurice Oldfield who is now buried in the beautiful churchyard of St Anne’s Church. Down in the dale, once you arrive at the river, you will find that turning left, right or straight on over the footbridge are all easily navigate. In Bakewell, the renowned Rutland Hotel stands on the main roundabout in the centre of town. Apparently, this is where Jane Austin penned Pride and Prejudice… (fun fact: Mr Darcey’s Pemberley was based on Chatsworth House, two miles from Bakewell..)
