A short walk behind the lodge takes us to a lake, where we find the largest fresh water fish on the planet - Arapaima gigas, the monstrous fruit eating fish Tambaqui, a close relative of the piranha, growing to a meter long (39 inches) and 30 kilograms (70 pounds), along with electric eels. Within our area we have jaguars, monkeys (squirrel, howler, capuchin, etc.), sloths, capybara, poisonous and nonpoisonous snakes, dolphins, caimans, piranha, insects, etc.
