Bijou guest house, in splendid isolation! Stay in our converted piggery, built out of local stone and set in lovely grounds on the edge of Ipstones. Set back from a narrow country road which is barely trafficed, you will feel the stresses of modern life slip away. The Piggery is decorated as a tiny house, complete with its own shower and toilet and warmed by underfloor heating. The Piggery is a great base for visits to Alton Towers, The Peak District, The Potteries and for outdoor pursuits.
We are in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands, with walks into the Churnet valley on the door step. In September you can hear the resident stags rutting in the Churnet woods when the sun starts to set. You could walk down to Frogall by the canal and steam railway watching out for Kingfishers and with an ear open for woodpeckers. Hetty's tearoom is a lovely cafe/restaurant, recently opened in an old mill-building on the canal, which serves fabulous light snacks (the obligatory Staffordshire oatcake!) and a variety of cakes, including gluten free. We are 15 mins from the spectacular Roaches, with lovely walks of elevation, gritstone and heathers. (Stop off at The Lazy Trout in Meerbrook for excellent food). Ilam and Dovedale are highly recommended as a pretty but unique Staffordshire village with the famous stepping stones and flat topped hill. Our family lived there for generations, so Dad or I can probably bore the bones of you with Ilam knowledge! I'll leave it for you to ask... For cyclists the area is superb! There are many routes, challenging hill climbs and great training ground for serious competitors. For those after something more leisurely, try the Manifold Valley cycle track, through the cast scenery of the White Peaks. look out for Thor's Cave and sit by the river at the Manifold cafe with a refreshment. For gardeners I recommend a visit to Trentham Gardens, quite breathtaking planting in the restored gardens by Europe's finest designers (and also attractive cabin retail units). Locally, Consall Hall at the head of the Churnet Valley has beautiful landscaped gardens, splendid in Spring with the Rhodedendrons and Azalaes in flower. The iconic Chatsworth Hall is a lovely country drive away and for those looking for Instrusrial history, Stoke-on -Trent is the place for you! Gladstone Pottery is an excellent museum, I don't know anyone who hasn't been fascinated with a day there, or come home without having tried to throw a pot or paint a china flower! Emma Bridgewater, she of the spotty mugs, has breathed some life back into Stoke with her highly successful factory. It is worth a visit to the factory shop and the boho/Industrial cool cafe and decorating studio. After all that you will be so glad to sink onto the super comfy double bed or sip some wino on the patio, fire pit blazing and soak up the complete peace and quiet.
Ipstones is a pretty village in the Staffordshire moorlands with a thriving community spirit. With three pubs, a shop and butchers to cater for your needs, friendly locals abound and frequent music nights (Sunday night acoustic night at The Sea Lion). The walking surrounding The Piggery is excellent - it is just off the Staffordshire Way, on the doorstep of Consall and Froghall Warf, which use the industrial heritage to great use with canal cafes and pubs and steam railway. The ale rail is a great way to enjoy what local beers and ciders are around with a trip on the train! f you don't want to think about cooking on your break we have two pubs which serve food in the village ( and one for people looking for a traditional local with a great range of whisky). They are 10 minutes walk down the country lane, so park up and potter down! I recommend The Marquis of Granby for a great meal at really good prices. it is popular round here though, so booking is necessary! There are a many other recommendations around, with Leek, Ashbourne , Cheadle and Buxton offering plenty for every palette.

A beautifully decorated one-bedroom townhouse in the centre of the historic market town of Leek. Ideal for couples (or singles!) wanting to take a mini-break in the Peak District countryside, whilst also enjoying the restaurants, pubs, cafes, and markets of Leek. Leek is the ideal hub for trips to The Roaches, Alton Towers, nearby market towns and other points of interest in the nearby Peak District. The house is near to all local amenities such as supermarkets, artisan bakers and local shops.
This two-storey house enjoys a fully-fitted kitchen (range oven, kettle, integrated SMEG fridge freezer, toaster), a spacious bathroom with a large free-standing bath (perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine!), a beautifully decorated bedroom with king-size bed, and a cosy living room downstairs to enjoy a romantic night in. A large garden out the rear of the home is perfect to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. The home has cast-iron radiators throughout, wooden floors, and is decorated to a high standard. I really hope you enjoy your stay and make yourselves at home. Don’t hesitate to ask me any questions you might have :-)
The house is perfectly located in the centre of Leek and a short walk from cafes, restaurants, pubs, bakers, pharmacies, Leek high street, bus station and supermarkets. There is also a beautiful public park approx. 100 metres from the house. The Peak District is only 3 miles away. Alton Towers is 11 miles away. Macclesfield and Stoke are 25 mins drive away and Buxton is a 22 min drive away (the nearest train stations). There are too many nice walks and points of interest nearby to mention them all, but some favourites of mine are The Roaches, Deep Hayes country park, and Peak Wildlife Park. There are also some lovely canal walks you can enjoy. In Leek itself, there is a market in the square and high street every Wednesday and Saturday. There are also loads of antiques shops in the town. There are dozens of pubs to enjoy: The Earl Grey, Den Engel and The Fountain are personal faves of mine. Also, The Lazy Trout pub is a short drive away and it does a a terrific Sunday lunch! Other restaurants in Leek itself that I’d recommend are The Napoli and Old Mill Smokehouse.

Middle Barn is a newly converted barn and has many original features as well as modern comforts including underfloor heating downstairs, excellent WiFi, and finished to a high standard. Situated on a working farm on parkland which has 3/4 mile frontage to Rudyard Lake as well as having the Staffordshire Way footpath running through makes this a great base for both fishing and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Middle Barn is a conversion of a late nineteenth century farm building. It has all the charm of an old barn with original openings and stunning views over the Peak District and the village below. The farmland - a former Victorian golf course - runs down to the edge of beautiful Rudyard Lake with boating and fishing available.
The farm is nestled in parkland with 3/4 mile frontage of Rudyard Lake, a huge tourist draw in the Victorian era, and where Rudyard Kipling's parents spent their honeymoon. Further afield, the town of Leek and the neighbouring surrounds of the Staffordshire Moorlands present a wealth of family-friendly locally run businesses providing great produce and offering outdoor adventure. Within five miles of the farm you can experience rock climbing at the Roaches, a stunning escarpment which marks the end of the Pennine Way; Tittesworth Reservoir with kayaking and paddle boarding and a brilliant childrens' playground and cafe; mountain biking and motorbike scrambling. There are dozens of stunning walks, local markets and great pubs selling good food made from local produce. Our nearest town, Leek, affectionately called 'The Queen of the Moorlands' is a friendly Totally Locally market town. There are markets on all through the week and lots of local home-grown produce available. As a Totally Locally town, it supports local small businesses so you will find lots of independent cafes, bars, health shops, antique shops and the like. Further afield are the beautiful towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton and the adventure of Alton Towers is only 17 miles away.

A fantastically light and spacious family house in central Leek. Deceptively large, open plan living with walled garden. A modernised, clean and beautiful Georgian brick townhouse with 5 bedrooms, three bathrooms and huge living space. Car parking in garage and just metres from the Highstreet, market place and fab pubs. A perfect place to explore the Peak District, climb on the Roaches, visit Alton Towers or relax with family and friends. Nightly costs include all our cleaning costs, no extra!
This is our family home that we have been doing up ourselves over the last few years. We love real wood, clean white walls and open plan living. We have knocked walls through, put solid wood floors in and renovated from scratch. We are in the process of relocating, so will be taking most of our personal items with us, but from September 2018 it will still be on Airbnb but with less of our 3 children’s clutter and more space for you to roam! It is still a project in progress as all houses are but we're getting there! Now only the ground floor needs a bit of work but all the living space is upstairs anyway.
Leek is fantastically located for access to the Peak District, Alton Towers and so on. It is a cute 'independent' market town with lovely markets, 30 pubs in the immediate area, (really!) some great little shops, restaurants and cafes and a big park.

Wild Thorn Farm is a 9 acre smallholding located near the Peak District in the beautiful Churnet Valley of Staffordshire. We run it as a small mixed farm with the aim to produce our own nutrient dense ethical food and sell surplus locally. We farm sustainably, using permaculture, holistic management and low stress livestock management techniques. We have chickens, ducks, goats, turkeys and Shetland cattle as well as apple trees, a bee hive and many food gardens.
Two bedroom caravan with two WCs, a shower and fully furnished kitchen. One bed is a double and the other is twin beds which can be split or used as another double. We are only 4 miles outside of Leek and less than a mile from the Peak District. We have three cafes within a minute's drive (or a short walk!) and plenty of pubs within a couple of miles from us. There is a great Indian restaurant less than a mile down the road too. Optional extras: As part of your stay we will be happy to walk you around the farm so you can meet the animals and learn more about our way of life. We often have surplus homegrown food for sale. I am a qualified Hatha Yoga Instructor, Nutritional Therapy Consultant and Ancestral Health Coach. I have yoga mats, some kettlebells and lots of activities to do outside if you want to add on some health and fitness to your stay.
Please feel free to ask questions, there are too many places of interest to list them all!

There is a wealth of Independent shops, cafes, pubs, traditional and artisan markets. There is a double bedroom and a large lounge diner with a sofa bed. The kitchen is brand new and very well equipped. On the first floor of this quirky listed building. During the week (Monday to Thursday) the market place is a quiet, restful area great for a business stop home away from home or for those who want to get out into the Peak District walking but during the weekend it becomes a hive of activity with its weekly Saturday market and numerous pubs, clubs and eateries spilling out onto the pavement until the early hours.
