The apartment is bright, clean, and big enough to stretch your legs out a bit. It's maybe 10 minutes walking from the main shopping/nightlife area, and the walk to it (at least in this season) is very pleasant, with abundant roses, jasmine bushes, and other greenery. Highly recommended.

Chris' apartment is the perfect place to stay when in Tokyo. My friend and I stayed there for 2 nights only but we could have stayed way more, the apartment itself is really comfortable and has everything you need (even portable wifi which was really useful to visit the city). The best thing is its location in the center of Shimokitazawa neighbourghood, great area of Tokyo, lots of nice restaurants, shops (thrift shops & young designers), and really fast to go to other areas like Shinjuku. Chris was really nice and accomodating with our ealry arrival/late leave, and told us about the area. I would totally recommand staying at his place and in Shimokitazawa

Don's place gives you a real sense of Tokyo living. It is a Tokyo sized apartment right next to the action in Shimo-kitazawa. Very easy access by public transport to western Tokyo sites. 100's of local eating places within 5 minutes of the front door. Didn't have time to try them all. The apartment is very well prepared for visitors with snacks, tourist maps and english translations of the various equipment. Thanks.

Everything about this place was perfect and Chris is a spectacular host - from the snacks and drinks offered, to the amazing list of his personal recommendations in the area, we absolutely loved our stay at this spacious trendy apartment set in the midst of the action and only wished we had stayed here longer. The area has a really cool vibe with lots of second-hand vintage stores, record stores, great cafes just like back home in Melbourne, delicious food with a local-feel and this is all pretty much on your doorstep! I would definitely stay here again for my next trip.

Mai's place was in a great location - really you can't get better than this. However the flat felt a lot older than it seems in the pictures and we're not sure it had been cleaned properly before our arrival - we found a lot of hairs and dust around the place, which is a shame because everything else about the stay, including communication, was really good.

L'appartement de Mai est très bien équipé (sèche-cheveux, transformateurs de courant, pocket-wifi à disposition!). IL est situé dans un quartier vivant (resto, bar, shopping) mais pas bruyant. La station de transports (metro...) est à 2 minutes de l'appartement. Et le metro mène directement et rapidement à Shibuya (station qui conduit partout dans Tokyo). Mai est adorable et est de bons conseils pour vous guider dans les endroits typiques de Tokyo. A conseiller!

Great place and great location! In the middle of a great part of Shimokitazawa, but also very quiet. Super close to the train. Yosuke was super easy to reach, and he met me to give me the keys and walked me to the place (which was not my experience with other Tokyo airbnb's, where I had to follow complicated directions). Overall, it was really great and I'd recommend highly!

Staying at Yosuke's apartment was a delight! He was readily available before we arrived to answer our questions, then met us at the station to personally guide us to the apartment. The apartment itself is fantastic - clean, as spacious as can be in Japan(!), with all the amenities we required. It is in a fantastic area, with everything a short walk or train away. I would highly recommend staying in Shimokita, especially for a bit of respite from the busy-ness of Tokyo for a few days. And I wold very highly recommend staying with Yosuke. Also make sure you ask him for dinner recommendations - our sushi was amazing, thanks Yosuke!

The stay at Yosuke's place was great! Yosuke gave us clear instructions before arrival, although it took longer than expected to find the flat since we had large luggages. We had all the basics we needed and the portable wifi came in very handy. Really loved the Shimokita area, especially if you are into vintage, there are lots of 古着店 and also izakayas.

We stayed at Taku & Misa´s cosy apartment for 12 nights and everything was great! The apartment is located in the hip & bohemian Shimokitazawa and its full of good food and entertainment, while still being a 5 minute train ride away from Shibuya and the rest of Tokyo. The flat itself has only the basics, so it forces you to go out and explore. Totally recommend it for budget-conscious travelers who are looking to stay in a great location.

We stayed at Taku and Misa's place for a week while we were visiting Tokyo, and we could not ask for a better location! Super close to the train and an easy walk to the best places in Shimokita. This place is great for a quiet residential stay, but not for partying or making lots of noise. Taku and Misa were great hosts and very quick to respond to any questions we had. We would definitely stay here again!

Taku and Misa's place is very conveniently located close to the station, I used to live in the area so I had no trouble getting around. The room is average for a Japanese apartment, the only thing I missed was perhaps a microwave to heat up food or somewhere to cook. But that is not always necessary. Overall I'm very happy with my stay!

Small room equipped with everything you need, especially mobile Wifi! The location is near Shibuya, so you can get to the famous spots in Tokyo quickly. But also the neighbourhood is great and I recommend to spend at least one night at the local bars and restaurants!

Andy is a pro. Apartment was clean and comfortable, and perfectly located near all the fun and convenience of Shimo-Kitazawa. No complaints at all. It's actually a second floor apartment, so there was no sound above. Narrow steps, probably not ideal for older travelers. I recommend asking Andy for the exact address of his apartment in advance. He provides helpful directions to his apartment, but if you want to use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, Uber, etc., you'll want the exact address.

This apartment was perfect for my family (2 adults, 2 kids) - it was exactly as described - only 2 minutes (90 seconds if you power-walk!) from the station, right past a supermarket, in an absolutely amazing area - full of shops, restaurants and bars, quite literally on your doorstep. Kaz was a great host - gave lots of detailed instructions about the apartment and how to work things, and also what was around the 'Shimokita' area itself. She responded really quickly to any questions. The apartment was clean and as described/pictured, with lots of extra amenities to make staying there easier (soap/shampoo, kitchen basics...). I would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to ever return to Tokyo in the future.

Kaz's place was fantastic. The location is perfect and we loved Shimokitza! The accommodation is extremely well maintained and we immediately felt at home. Its a sizable apartment fro Tokyo and great value. We got to know many of the owners of the local restaurant and bars. We actually developed a strong relationship with Shin who runs the bar "Shins" behind the supermarket. Pop in a say hello, tell him Kate, Brendan and the boys sent you. We would love to return sometime very soon and will not hesitate to stay at Kaz's place when we do. Thanks Kaz!!!

This is our first Airbnb stay. We stayed at Kaz's apartment for 2 nights, Saturday-Monday with our 9 & 12 years old kids. Overall it worked for our short visit to see my brother around the corner. We followed the rules and stayed as quiet as possible. Funny enough the noise from the street was worse than any noise we could have made in the apartment or that we get in NYC. We were awoken on Saturday between 1-6AM with drunken people yelling, screaming and (URL HIDDEN) if they were in the room with us. Sunday was better. If you're not sensitive to noise than this will work for you. Other than that the apartment was fine and the location was excellent. The manual that Kaz provided was informative and the pocket wifi was extremely useful.

Pas tous les magasins, mais la nourriture y est très agréable et savoureux. Il y a des petits magasins et les pharmacies commodément à proximité de l'appartement. Emplacement du métro de l'appartement est à moins de 5 minutes à pied et du métro Shibuya ou Shinjuku est si commode. Il est juste un arrêt à shibuya et deux arrêts à Shinjuku si vous arrivez à prendre leur train express sinon le train local sera également vous amener à la destination, mais juste un peu plus les arrêts. Comme Shimokitazawa est un endroit plus pour les jeunes et il y a des petits pubs ou les bars que vous pouvez boire alors ne vous attendez quelques bruits ci-dessous l'appartement au milieu de la nuit. Mais ce n'est pas vraiment un problème par rapport à ce beau quartier. Aime rester là-bas car il y a tellement de choses à se promener. Host était très rapide à répondre messages et était très serviable et arrangeant pendant notre séjour. Merci d'avoir rendu notre mémorable. J'y retournerais sans hésiter si je suis de retour au Japon un jour!

Shops, restaurants and bars were literally minutes away from the room. I can't recommend the area/place enough!

Daisuke has been the greatest host we could ever imagine for our first time in Tokyo with our 10-mo baby. He arranged everything before our arrival (incl a baby cot, MTR maps, tokyo maps...) and was always helpful and available to reply to our questions during our stay. Very well located, 5min from MTR, although the area is very lively, the flat is quiet and that was important for us and our baby. Thank you very much again Daisuke for all your help and tips to make our stay unforgettable!

I could write a novel on how lovely it was to stay here. One of the absolute best Airbnbs I've stayed in. Daisuke goes beyond the duties of a host to make you feel right at home, and ensure you have a great time staying in Shimokitazawa. The place was very spacious compared to other Tokyo Airbnbs, super super clean, and in a nice building. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as young fun loving people tend to make some noise in the streets at night and you can hear it from inside sometimes. But the building itself is very quiet. So many fun gems in Shimokitazawa, you can explore and explore. Catch a live band play, meet interesting people at a quirky bar, find unique gifts at the local record and book store. And wonderful food and drink everywhere. Highly recommend the soup curry at Samurai (Daisukes suggestions were on point as well). If you can make the time, meet Daisuke in person for a drink or a coffee :) Had a great time getting to know him. We will definitely stay here again on a return trip! Thanks for everything!

Loved Jason's place! It was comfortable and cute, and provided everything we could have hoped for in Tokyo! It's in a fantastic part of town which is very close to the major subway stops - Shibuya and Shinjuku Stations - and the neighbourhood had tons of restaurants & coffee shops, convenience stores and great little boutiques. Jason was really helpful answering any of our questions quickly, even coming to fetch us from the train station when we first arrived because we forgot the (easy) instructions to get to the apartment! Also, the bed was really comfortable w nice duvet and various pillows. Loved the pocket wifi too! I would totally stay here again and definitely recommend Airbnb with Jason.

This apartment is located in the best little area of Tokyo. We absolutely loved it. It's busy but on a much smaller scale than Shibuya. The little restaurants are at your doorstep and you'll want to try them all. The apartment has everything you need. We didn't use the small kitchenette as there are so many options for food in the area. The ceiling height is quite low (I think 2.1metres) which adds to the cuteness of the place (my partner is 194cm so it made him look like a giant). Very comfortable bed and the doonas were very warm and super soft. Jay was very easy to communicate with and easily reached. Would definitely stay here again...thanks Jay.

We spent 4 days in Shimokitazawa at Jay's place and loved every minute of it. It's a cool local suburb very close to everything. The apartment was very sunny, spacious and spotlessly clean. Jay was very quick to respond to our queries and although we didn't meet him he was very helpful. The apartment is only a few minutes walk from the station and lots of great little Izakaya's and local restaurants. Will definitely be back!

Jay's listing in Shimokitazawa was the perfect place for my group and I! If you want to stay in Shimokitazawa, Airbnb is the way to go as there aren't really any hotels available in this area. I had 3 people in my group and we were able to fit very comfortably in the apartment. The apartment was down a a nice quiet street, but literally less than a 1 minute walk to lots of restaurants, convenience stores, bars, karaoke bars, and everything else you would need nearby - right in the heart of Shimo. In terms of amenities, it has all the basics you would need, but the most helpful was definitely the free pocket wifi which was a life saver. Jay was very attentive to my messages and was able to answer any and all questions I had for him. One member of my group had a little trouble finding the place on the first day, and coincidentally, Jay happened to run into my friend on the street and was nice enough to show him where the apartment was located. Great service! As an FYI, definitely follow Jay's written directions as the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps directions don't really work (from my experience, kind of a general rule all across Japan if you try to enter in English translations for Japanese words, unless its a major tourist attraction). If I had to list one small drawback it was that the bathroom was a bit small, however keep in mind I'm also over 6ft tall, and it's definitely much better than some of the bathrooms I've seen in hostels around Japan, so at the end of the day, not a big deal. Without any hesitation, I would definitely stay here again or at any of Jay's listings in the future!

The location of the place is great if you want to explore all of the popular spots in Tokyo! It's near a lot of restaurants and the train station. The place is big enough to fit 2 people, 3 would be tight. The AC works great especially during these hot summer days. The host was very helpful and quick to answer my questions. She also provided a portable wifi which i definitely appreciated it a lot. The bathroom and toilet area could be a bit more clean and maybe have a curtain for the shower. Also there wasn't enough power outlets. Would stay here again for the great host, location, and pocket wifi!

Natsuki's place is conveniently located, and was the perfect spot to experience the wonderful Shimo-K neighborhood. Close proximity to a train station is a must for travelers in Tokyo, and getting to her place from the Skimo-K train station is quick and easy, and she provides easy directions on how to get there.

This place is deluxe!! Excellent quiet spot in a busy little neighbourhood. The apartment is huge, well stocked and functional - you can tell someone really lives here. Only minor issue for us: we have a toddler and there are quite a lot of things around for little hands to grab at, so it's a little bit more work in that respect than in the more typical minimal Japanese apartments. Highly recommend this place!

Thanks for letting us stay. We really enjoyed our time in the flat which is close to the train for Shibuya and the street it is on has lots of bars and shops.

The apartment is great, and spacious enough for a long stay. My wife and I really enjoyed being here for almost a week and knew we picked the right apartment after staying in a few others that weren't nearly as comfortable. The location is literally steps from the south gate (i think??) of Shimokitazawa which is a super fun neighborhood to wander around and explore tons of cool vintage shops, Izakaya/restaurants, record stores, etc. The Shimokitazawa train station (which connects you to major hubs like Shinjuku in just a few stops) is only a short, and fun five minute walk away. I highly recommend staying not only in this area on your trip, but also in this apartment!

Paradise Suite! is even better than it looks in the pictures! The apartment is relatively roomy for Tokyo, comfortably sleeping two couples, the location is fantastic, and the people who manage this property are extremely prompt and professional at meeting the guests needs. I have only positive things to say.

Great location & very helpful transportation tips given before hand

We had a lovely stay at Maggie's place. The flat is really comfortable with a nice bedroom and beautiful rooftop. Well located next to Shimo-Kitazawa station. The neighborhood is fantastic, very typical and calm.

The apartment is two minutes walking from the Shimokitazawa train station, Aki's instructions are clear so it's really easy to get in. The apartment is perfect for two persons as you have an small table and space for lunch. We only noticed the bad smell of the bathroom the first day, the bed could be a little more confortable but it's a way better than slepping on futon. Near the apartment there are a lot of restaurants and bars, there are also two big supermarkets

Aki's apartment is very conveniently located and easy to find. She sent us pdfs with clear instructions for finding and opening the apartment. It was hassle free. She even provided us with a mobile wifi device. It was only my friend and I on this occasion but the apartment will comfortably fit 3-4 people if necessary. The toilet and shower were a little on the small side but this is to be expected in Tokyo. Overall, the apartment was clean, in a fantastic quirky neighbourhood and it was an enjoyable and convenient stay.

Aki was quick to respond to any questions and was kind enough to let us check out later as our flight was not til the evening. The apartment was well kept and had everything we needed for our stay. The main was location, location, location! Shimokitazawa was a great area to stay and feel like a local. Busy streets with a great bars, food, coffee(!) and vintage shopping. Only a few stops away from busy Shibuya but also some great areas that are less touristy which we loved. Would recommend to others if you are looking for a local experience in a local area. Great for a couple and/or groups of friends.

Sonoko était très gentil de nous attendre tard dans la nuit pour nous donner le Keyes quand nous sommes arrivés en retard à l'aéroport. La maison de Sonoko est une pittoresque maison traditionnelle japonaise à proximité du quartier de frais de Shimokitazawa. Nous avons dormi sur des futons très confortables et nous avons adoré les caractéristiques traditionnelles de la maison. Sonoko nous a également préparé un bon repas pour notre dernière nuit, alors qu'elle pratiquait son anglais avec nous. Recommandé si vous êtes à la recherche d'une véritable expérience japonaise avec un certain échange culturel convivial pour démarrer!

Sonoko was a generous and thoughtful host, meeting us at the local train station and preparing a delicious traditional breakfast. This is an old style small home with a large tatami room for sleeping/living and simple kitchen and bathroom. We loved the heated coffee table! Good for family visits to Tokyo to experience this traditional living style. We had family of 4 easily fit. Large electric blanket under futons and other heating was provided. Visiting in January meant it was a bit cold in the house, despite the heating provided. Good location with 3 stations nearby, Yoyogi Uehara was 12 min walk and then only 1 stop to Harajuku on JR Yamanote line. Shimokitazawa is an interesting area with plenty of eateries and shops near the station (15 min walk).

Sonoko is a great host the traditional riceballs we made together with other guests for breakfast were a nice treat. The place itself is great to come back to after the hustle and bustle of downtown Tokyo , if you like living on tatami and sleeping on a futon it is a good place.

We had a lovely stay at Sonoko's place. She was very helpful and friendly and the traditional breakfast she cooked for us on our last morning was wonderful. The place was cosy, basic and comfortable and is in a convenient location in terms of trains. We really enjoyed exploring the local area particularly Shimokitazawa.

Location, Location, Location - Sora's place is perfectly located in the heart of this small town. The beds were super plush (soft) which we found to be rare in Japan. Sora quickly responds to any questions. Highly recommend staying here.

It is a very nice and cozy place in an amazing neighbourhood. Shimokitazawa is a very interesting place with many second hand shops, locally designed items, cafes and live music bars. I had two main gripes staying at Mickey's place. It was not easy to pick up the keys. Also, the bathroom was not well cleaned (hair was still stuck in the bathtub causing the water to accumulate) and that was a little disturbing.

The two best things about Tommy's place are: the bed, and the location in Shimokitazawa. You can get there from the station in 3 minutes by foot, and there are plenty of food and bar options nearby. He has a lot of guidelines presented before your arrival and when you are there. Tom also communicated before my arrival.

It was a great space, very comfortable bed and good area. Easy to get around with public transport. There is a store downstairs with soy ice cream and fried donuts that are to die for! Thanks for hosting us Tom.

The apartment is steps away from the train station in a lively neighborhood surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants. It's centrally located and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including an amazing king size bed!
