Located near Totnes, in the heart of a rural Devon Village. Tranquility and comfort combine to make our cosy cottage a perfect getaway. Situated for day trips to Devon beaches with an affordable price it’s a great base for exploring. Includes a private fridge in our kitchen, self serve breakfast (toast, cereal, coffee, tea). A 30” Netflix TV in the room and a comfortable foam orthopedic mattress, with extra pillows. Parking is in the village lanes and can be tricky but our price reflects this.
We are a quiet mature couple who mostly work at home. So interaction is what you make of it, hide away or engage either way we are easy going. We are happy to share all the downstairs areas of our home, and you can smoke in our small courtyard. Or Vape inside. Parking can sometimes be an issue but it’s free and is manageable. Worse case a 5 minute walk from the car to the door. The village is old and quaint because of this it is lacking infrastructure for the modern world of cars. However there is often parking within 1 minute or less depending on the time of day (evenings being busy) it’s also possible to stop outside for a few minutes and drop off your bags or necessities before going to park (we do this ourselves regularly) The village is safe and friendly. The fire is almost always going in the evening, and the perfect place for our guests to sit and relax. Amenities are within walking distance, well behaved dogs are welcome, with plenty of nearby fields and walks for them. The cottage has a cosy yet minimal feel. The kitchen is not perfect but has a farmhouse cottage feeling. The house is kept tidy but as it is a 400 year old cottage it has its quirks. We have been cooking and eating Asian food for over 15 years and offer cooking lessons and meals at additional charges, please ask for info when you book. Our cottage is a small home with unique layout and interesting nooks and crannies. What it lacks in grandeur it makes up for in charm. The fire is on most evenings, and as we don’t have any pets or children so the house is pretty quiet. We generally watch a film in our room between 9pm-11pm leaving the downstairs empty. We have one upstairs full bathroom with shower/bath and one downstairs toilet. We are always happy to help you while you are here, and also happy to sit around the fire in the evening sharing stories or not the choice is yours.
We are 3.5 miles outside Totnes, 12 miles from Dartmouth Close to many beaches. Close to historic landmarks. Close to DartMoor National Park Near Woodlands Leisure Centre 15 miles from Salcombe Beach 12 miles from Bee Sands Beach 11 miles from Blackpool sands Beach 15 miles from Bigbury beach 12 miles from Bantham beach 12 miles to Stoke Gabriel riverside village 13 miles to Buckfast Abbey

This annexe is a self-contained space in the heart of Totnes with views up to Totnes Castle. It's a five minutes walk from Totnes railway station and ten from the river Dart and its path to either the bottom of town or to the beautiful Dartington Estate. We have a south facing garden that guests are welcome to use and private parking. The annexe is five minute's walk from the top of the High Street with of all its amenities. Totnes is renowned for its independent shops, cafés, pubs and history.
Please note that there are two sets of three steps approaching the annexe. Private parking is available at the rear of the property along with the access to our garden. The washing machine is situated in the basement adjacent to the annexe, the annexe itself sits beneath the kitchen of our family home so some general household activity can at times be heard above. The annexe is comfortable and cosy, the house itself is Victorian and has the quirks and charms associated with an older property.
Totnes is situated in South Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beaches and Dartmoor National Park are easily reachable by car - taking anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes for a selection of beautiful locations. Totnes sits on the main rail network between Plymouth, Exeter and beyond. The River Dart flows through Totnes and lovely walks can be taken in either direction along the river paths. In a setting of stunning natural beauty, Tuckenhay Mill is the centrepiece of a cluster of country homes and cottages with superb leisure facilities including two indoor and one outdoor pools, making it ideal for a family holiday for all ages. The Mill which once produced some of the finest paper in the land, nestles in the green and shady Bow Creek, a languid inlet of the River Dart where private yachts have replaced the old tall-masted ships and barges. Around the mill are all the buildings which once went to make up a small bustling village port. These listed buildings have been sympathetically restored and converted to a delightful range of holiday properties to suit larger family parties. Awards have been won for the conversion of buildings and the conservation of the area. With so much to do, many holidaymakers return year after year. There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding. This is a mecca for ramblers, bird-watchers, swimmers, surfers, horse riders, golfers and those interested in fishing, boating, sailing and windsurfing. In addition, there are many historic NT houses to visit including Agatha Christies’s Greenway as well as a local vineyard (with award-winning wines) at Sharpham. Tuckenhay is only 5 miles inland from Dartmouth and 3 from the market town of Totnes. Village shop 3½ miles. Riverside inn and restaurant within walking distance. A superb choice of cottages Each of the cottages has been individually styled to offer comfortable and spacious accommodation. Great care has been taken to retain the feel of the original buildings and extensive use has been made of traditional materials. Most have garden, terrace or patio. Individual cottage details are shown on the following pages. Many cottages have more than one bathroom and some have an en-suite bathroom to every bedroom. Kitchens are comprehensively equipped: most have dishwashers and all have microwave cookers. Couples and honeymooners will feel snug and comfortable in the small cottages: Mill Leat, Mill Stream and Mill Spring. Families can spread out in Papermaker’s or Turbine Cottages, while Mill Lodge, Edgecombe Barn and Tuckenhay Mill House will sleep larger parties in comfort. Of course, combinations of cottages can accommodate bigger gatherings of family or friends."

If you’re looking for something more adventurous, you’ll be located about 20 minutes from the surfing beach of Bantham where you can hire a board and wetsuit and go catch some waves! Within the South Hams you’ll also find further great surfing spots at Wembury, Challaborough and Bigbury-on-Sea, where it’s possible to hire surfboards, wetsuits and have lessons at some of these locations. You'll have easy access to the vibrant atmosphere of Totnes and all the wonderful cafes and entertainment. You can walk to the town centre in 20 minutes. There are many local walks along the river- To Sharpham Estate in one direction and to Dartington Hall in the other. TTT also offers films and talks to inform people of healthy attitudes to Nature and the environment . Totnes is close to the coast and Dartmoor, both offering wild and tranquil activities. Stunning walks and cafes at the coast and breathtaking views and characterful pubs with real ales on the moor. For people wanting to come away with family and friends I have one double room available and a king size room also .
