An original Jacobean manor built in 1620 with stone mullion windows, thick oak beams and yorkstone flags. Lovingly restored as a family home, where tradition meets mod cons from Chalon Kitchen to Linn room-to-room surround sound. Sitting in 17 meadowy acres you'll have an amazing sense of privacy and privilege when staying here. Whilst the Manor comfortably sleeps 16 plus a couple of roll-aways, the two country cottages on-site can accommodate an extra 12, if required.
A perfect retreat, Crayke Manor is regarded by many locals as the most beautiful home in the County. Not only the cosiness and solidness of the Manor itself but the way it proudly sits in its 17 acre surroundings. Near enough to the nearby village to stroll to the pub and far away enough to have ones own privacy and tranquility.
On the outskirts of the picturesque village of Crayke with its award winning The Durham Ox pub. Plentiful walks and historical sites, like Ampleforth Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey. Nearby towns like Helmsley and Easingwold. The historic city of York is only 10 miles south of the Manor.

Come and stay in our beautifully finished, tin shepherds hut at the bottom of our garden. We are located in the rolling countryside with extensive views over the vale of York. After a day of exploring this AONB, there’s nothing like cooking tea over the fire pit followed by a dip under the stars in our rustic hot tub. Fall into a fresh clean bed and wake up to the sound of the dawn chorus. Our bathroom barn provides all your needs for a morning freshen up! See you soon.
The name "The Hut In The Wild" is just our name for the hut. The hut is located on our property at the bottom of our garden not in the wild. It is a beautiful shepherds hut in a gorgeous area with a fantastic view over the fields and hills. Experience a little wild living, cook on a fire pit and soak in a rustic wood fired hot tub.
We are set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and literally located at the end of a lane in a farming hamlet and look out onto fields where the many foothpaths start. Close by is the fantastic Yearsley woods which is great for walking, running, horse riding and biking. Further afield towards the coast you will find Dalby Forest which provides bikers with a choice of green, red and blue tracks! If you want to cycle or venture off in the car there are many places to visit...Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Terrace. Helmsley, Malton, Pickering, Easingwold and Thirsk are our local market towns full of places to eat and drink and a chance to pick up some nibbles. We don’t have a pub in our hamlet but there are plenty on offer a short drive away. The Durham Ox in Crayke and The Fairfax Arms in Gilling are lovely gastro pubs. Or you can opt for a more informal pub in Sheriff Hutton, The Highwayman or The White Bear in Stillington where you can get quite a hearty meal! Hope this helps in planning your stay.

This beautiful little bolthole is a converted, 19th century railway shed in the picture postcard village of Gilling East. Brilliantly located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, it offers cosy and self-contained, shepherd's hut-style accommodation just a stone's throw from a really super pub. Six miles from Helmsley and a short drive from Castle Howard, the Parcel Shed retains its original beams and enjoys gorgeous views across the lower reaches of the Ampleforth valley.
The Parcel Shed is a very unique, little place and is part of the converted, former railway station that once served the village. It's been restored to offer bijou holiday accommodation - that includes an en-suite shower room as well as a fully equipped micro kitchen and sitting and eating area. It's been inspired by the shepherd's huts that are so popular. But unlike a shepherd's hut, the Parcel Shed has the benefit of central heating. It also enjoys superfast broadband, its own front door and a private balcony overlooking the garden and valley. There is a smart TV and a small hanging area for clothes.
Gilling East really is a picture postcard village with a stream running through its middle. It's on the edge of the Ampleforth Abbey estate and there are fantastic walks and bike rides straight from the door. The main attractions of the village are the surrounding countryside, the pub and the playground which has its own mini railway open at weekends throughout the summer. It's ideal for people wanting to get to know this part of Yorkshire a little better. NB: While the Parcel Shed has wifi, in common with most very rural areas, there is very little mobile signal when you are out and about.

The room is spacious and south-facing within a comfortable home on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The house occupies a central position, two minutes walk from the local shop, a cafe and two excellent village pubs. There is also a leisure centre and playground in Ampleforth, and York is only 40 minutes away. Local attractions include Sutton Bank for biking and gliding; Castle Howard, the ruined abbeys of Reivaulx, Byland and Fountains, plus the bustling market town of Helmsley.
Our home is warm and welcoming, and the spaces generous as this is an old house built before 1745. The main hall is attractive with a french dresser and the bathroom is well thought out with natural stone tiles and is also fairly spacious. Outside is a beautiful terrace which enjoys full sun. The guest-room has been modified to include a kitchenette so guests can enjoy the benefits of a microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and work station. There is also access to smart t.v with streaming services and Netflix.
This is a beautiful part of the world, with the North York Moors National Park on your doorstep, and hundreds of walks throughout the area. York is 40 minutes away with it’s rich heritage and culture, while the atmospheric Yorkshire Dales are only 50 minutes away. Whitby is an upbeat, vibrant seaside location worth enjoying, as are other villages along the coast. We are a spring-board to both Scotland and London, both being about 1.5 - 2 hours by train.

Lovely, self-contained mini-studio apartment in a former railway station in Gilling East, on the edge of the North York Moors. Comfy double bed with TV, wifi and en-suite. Your own entrance and kitchenette. Fantastic walks and cycle rides straight from the door as well as lots of attractions further afield.
Platform 1 is a double bedroom, complete with small sitting corner, en-suite shower room and kitchenette. There's a smart TV, superfast broadfast as well as hanging space for your clothes. The shower room has an easy-to-use electric shower and supplies such as hand soap, shampoo, tissues and cotton wool balls as well as plenty of loo roll. The kitchenette has a combi-microwave oven, fridge, sink, kettle and toaster. You'll get supplies to start you off - tea, coffee, milk and biscuits - and there's a 'breakfast' bar where two people can eatcomfortably side by side. Platform 1 also has its own seating area outside on the railway platform. It's a lovely place to sit out and has a beautiful view up towards Oswaldkirk.
Gilling itself: The lovely thing about Platform 1 at Gilling Station is that you can walk straight from the door into the most beautiful countryside. There are lots of woods, lakes and streams. It's a popular spot for walkers, mountain bikers and road bikers too. Our favourite walk at the moment is straight over the road and up the valley to the Anthony Gormley statue. It has a wonderful view of the Ampleforth Valley and is a very special place. Within three/five miles: Hovingham tea rooms and bakery are a must. Their cakes are fantastic and it's set by a little stream and ford. It's a nice bike ride away. Ampleforth Abbey is worth a visit. The tea rooms in particular are very nice. Within ten/15 miles Helmsley's great. It has super food shops and cafes and Friday's market is very good. Obviously there's the castle too and Duncombe Park. In summer it has an outdoor swimming pool which we like very much. The walk from Helmsley to Rievaulx is really worth doing but there's many other lovely walks too. Nunnington Hall - Is so worth a visit. It's a stunning National Trust building and has lovely gardens too. Castle Howard - Is just stunning. The house is wonderful as are the grounds and the garden. Goes without saying that it has lovely tea rooms and a very nice garden centre. Easingwold - Easingwold is just a very nice market place and very much worth stopping in on your way to York. Tea Hees is a very nice coffee shop as is the Curious Table. York is 30 minutes to the outskirts. Fantastic place to visit at any time of year. Whitby and the Yorkshire coast are popular destination for our guests. There are so many spots to recommend but our favourites have to be Sandsend, Staithes and Runswick Bay.

Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey are just a short drive away. Closer to home there are wonderful walks through countryside from the door, especially if you want to include pubs or tea rooms. To the north It's a lovely mile over the hill to Nunnington with its gallery, artisan workshops and coffee shop. To the south Hovingham is about two miles, where the Cricketers Bar and Worsley Arms, village shop, bakery, and both tea rooms will serve you well. We live in Fadmoor, right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, between the beautiful dales of Farndale and Bransdale. Great for hiking and mountain biking, or sightseeing; the famous mediaeval city of York is about 25 miles to the South. The accommodation is an Annex to our house, with its own entrance opening on to a utility area with downstairs toilet. There are two bedrooms, a separate shower room and a living/dining area. We only rent the Annex to a single party.
We charge per bedroom, so if you only require one, you'll still have the place to yourself. The basic charge is for two guests using one bedroom. If you need the other bedroom for more guests, please add 50% to the fee. If you have an additional child, we can provide another fold up bed at a modest extra cost. You're welcome to use the facilities in the utility room which is part of the annex: sink; fridge/freezer; washing machine; tumble dryer; microwave. Tea, coffee, milk etc will be provided, as well as cereals for a light breakfast. The living space comprises a large room with patio doors opening on to the gravel drive. There's a very comfortable sofa and chair at one end and a large dining table and chairs at the other. All bed linen and towels are included and there will be soap, shower gel, shampoo etc for you to use. There's ample parking on the drive for several cars. If something isn't included in the listing, please just talk to us when you arrive and we'll help as much as we can.
If you love hiking or mountain biking, this is the place for you! The National Park boundary runs through the middle of Fadmoor and the edge of the moors is just to the North. We can help with suggestions for routes and lend you maps. The coast is also about a 45 minute drive away; the well known town of Whitby and the Yorkshire Jurassic coast are within easy reach. There is a pub / restaurant about 10 minutes walk away and two Michelin starred restaurants a short drive away, the Black Swan at Oldstead owned by the famous Banks brothers and the Star at Harome. Helmsley, Anglaterra, Regne Unit

This beautiful, newly refurbished 18th century cottage sits in the heart of the lovely North Yorkshire market town of Helmsley. Close to a variety of local amenities and things to do, the house comfortably sleeps six people and provides the ideal option for a relaxing, self-catering break.
This gorgeous three bedroom cottage is the perfect spot to enjoy the bustling, charming, small town of Helmsley itself and also take in the surrounding rolling countryside of Ryedale, North Yorkshire Moors and beyond. Our home, with its welcoming feel, sits within the local community and is a place that our family love to escape to, whatever time of year. Much larger than it initially looks, this three bedroom cottage offers ample living space for six people but it is equally comfortable if you’re a couple as you can easily close off rooms and just use what you need to. At the front of the house, on the ground floor, there is a lovely sitting room with a large log burner, sofas and a tucked away TV. What ever the season this is a cosy room with its low ceilings, comfortable seating and nice lighting. That said, on cold days with the log burner roaring it really is a gorgeous space in which to unwind and relax. In addition, on the ground floor you have a downstairs loo but more importantly a beautiful, light and airy country kitchen with a dining table and a fabulous AGA Masterchef for those who like to cook; microwave, large fridge freezer and all cooking utensils. And at the rear of the house, beyond the kitchen is the conservatory. This room is again a spacious, light room with lots of seating, a log burner, so you can enjoy it on cooler days, and a TV. It works well as a second living space and, with the bifold doors at the end, opens up to be a great garden room. The long rear garden is private, enclosed and all yours. Upstairs, on the first floor, again you have low, beamed ceilings throughout. At the front there is a twin bedroom with views into the green fields of Duncombe Park, next to this is a nice double room bedroom and thirdly a bathroom with loo, bath and separate shower. And then up into the eaves of the house, there is a more private, larger bedroom with its own door at the bottom of the stairs, an adjoining bathroom with loo, sink and shower, a kingsize bed and views into the rear garden. To summarise what’s available to you in the house: Two log burners including fuel Two (brand new) showers Electricity throughout Full gas central heating Bed linen and towels included Two large flatscreen TVs DAB / FM radio Microwave Washing machine Dishwasher Large fridge/freezer Wi-Fi One travel cot One high chair Gun cabinet (lockable) Enclosed lawned garden with terrace and furniture Offroad parking at rear Welcome pack to help get you settled As Bridge Street is our home too, we ask a few things of you as guests. Firstly, and regrettably, we don't allow pets inside the property because of allergies and secondly, we ask you not to smoke anywhere in the house. Last thing: we’ve stylishly and responsibly newly refurbished Bridge Street. A lot of thought has gone into upcycling or carefully sourcing previously loved items so not everything matches but we feel this adds to the charm. Enjoy our house and the amazing Yorkshire countryside - we’ve given you tons of things to do in your guest info pack to help you get the most out of your stay.
Situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, nestled in James Herriot country, Helmsley is a picturesque, bustling Yorkshire market town. Surrounded by stunning countryside, and set within a busy working farming community, this is a perfect spot for long and short walks, delicious food, sightseeing or just generally relaxed. Helmsley itself has a lot on offer. Within walking distance of the house there are nice pubs, good restaurants, deli’s and even a beautiful ruined castle to wander around, so much so that you don’t really need to leave. Some favourites of ours include Summat's Brewin, a small microbrewery & pub which provides delicious local craft beer and then around the town square there are The Feathers, The Black Swan or The Feversham Arms. Then just outside Helmsley, there are also the Hare at Scawton and in Harome the Star Inn and The Pheasant. Manions is a gorgeous, small cafe that serves homemade gourmet food and great coffee. Also, the stunning five acre walled gardens (open from April to October) and its beautiful vine house cafe are truly unique. Then there is The Cafe on the Square, ideal for delicious cakes, light food and views over the market square and, not to forget, Ryeburn’s ice cream parlour offering award winning homemade ice cream. And just 10 minutes walk away from the house, is the Helmsley lido which is open daily between 11:45 and 19:00, from mid-June to early September.

Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms, with pretty views and a tastefully decorated bathroom. Up the spiral staircase to the second floor is the attic room. Outside there is a terrace, a long herbaceous garden and an orchard.
The hallway is airy with wooden floors and ample space to hang coats. The sitting room has a window seat under a big bay window, an elegant Italian fireplace and two sofas. This leads into the dining room with a piano and an octagonal dining table. The kitchen has granite counters, a double oven, a double sink, a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a small breakfast table. Upstairs, the bathroom is decorated in earth tiles and has a bath plus jet shower. Off the landing is the master bedroom with glorious views up the garden into woodland. The single room is a south-facing study, as is the king-size bedroom which also has a kitchenette. At the end of the landing a wooden spiral staircase leads up to the attic. This is a fantastic space for children, easily fitting two beds and with velux windows. Our sitting out area is up a level and is a courtyard with balustrade and a large dining table. A wall trained fig and patio tree provide shade. Leading from the terrace is a walled garden with stone seats and a central small pool. Above this is a sweeping lawn with hammock, trampoline, ping pong table and swing. A cafe table further up the garden provides an intimate space, whilst a swing seat in the orchard benefits from westerly sun. A wood can be accessed through the vegetable garden.
The Gables is in the heart of a rural village on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Within the village is a well stocked village shop, a millennium green, a playground, a cafe, two pubs and a leisure centre open to the public with swimming pool, gym and squash courts. Ten minutes drive away is the attractive mediaeval town of Helmsley with its market square, cafes, Arts Centre, walled garden, heated outdoor swimming pool, ancient castle and Duncombe Park, a country estate open to the public. Further afield is Castle Howard, with its beautiful landscaped gardens, lakes and children’s adventure playground. Sutton Bank for those who want to glide is ten minutes away and has bike routes and walks all along the escarpment. The moors are wonderful for hiking and Dalby Forest with its bike rides and Go Ape centre is popular with the adventurous. Those interested in history can explore nearby Abbeys of Byland, Rievaulx and Fountains Abbey, or visit the Viking Centre in York, which is forty minutes drive away. Whitby and Scarborough, seaside towns are equally popular and roughly forty minutes drive, as are The Dales, heading west towards the Pennines.
