The Mission Hall is a former place of worship and has been featured in magazines and newspapers for its architectural flair, style and humour. Situated close to the sea there are breathtaking views of sunsets and even dancing dolphins!
This cottage has the wow factor! There is a breath-taking dining room with a dark blue coloured concrete floor and pale blue “spatolato” finish walls and a wooden boxed ceiling. A specially designed crystal table sits on the flag-stones (originally covering the aisle of the church) in the middle of the room. When you look up, you’ll see how the pre owner has recycled the sides of the pews (still with numbers on!). There are 3 antique pitch-pine doors with impressive brass handles, two leading to the small bathrooms and a double one leading to the cosy sitting room. The sitting room has wood-lined walls (recycled from the back of the pews) with a settee and an armchair in front of an open fire. There is a small TV with DVD and Video player, a radio and a stereo with CD player. The well equipped kitchen has a crystal ceiling to let in the morning sun, a large stainless steel fridge and freezer, electric cooker, dish-washer, washing machine, microwave and several kitchen machines like mixer and juicer(all hidden in the big wooden larder). There is plenty of crockery and cutlery, lots of pots and pans and utensils. There is an antique wooden table for breakfast. A central wooden staircase (built by the Macduff ship-builders with the recycled wood from the pews) leads to the two upstairs bedrooms; Sunset themed double-bedded room (with electric blanket) and green twin-bedded room. Both were created on galleries with original recycled pitch-pine floors. The bed heads and galleries were created from the original sides of the pews (still bearing the seat numbers). The sunset room incorporates a crystal floor overlooking the stainless steel kitchen, while the green room overlooks the dining room. There are Velux escape windows looking out onto the gorse-covered hill at the back and two little ones looking onto the North Sea at the front. There are two small bathrooms at the bottom of the stairs – the sanitary ware and tiles were brought from Italy and there is a Greek key design on the glass doors and tiles. One bathroom has a shower, WC and wash basin, the other bathroom has a bidet, WC and wash basin. The toilets, wash-basins, sink, shower, bidet, washing-mashing and dish-washer all run on an eco-Saniflow-system before the waste goes into the sea. The Mission Hall has a sturdy wooden side door with a decking entrance. The sea wall is only a few meters away from the front of the house. A decking area has been added at the back of the house – it catches the morning sun - and there are 4 wooden folding chairs and a table. There are 3 antique benches originating from John Knox’s church at the front and side. Pets are welcome as guests, but not upstairs.
Classed as one of the best preserved conservation villages in Scotland, Crovie, this little jewel sits right on the wall of the North Sea. Yes, actually on the wall ... no traffic ... only the sound of the waves lashing, the pebbles rolling to and fro under the changing tide and the seagulls crying. A ten-minute walk from the car park/barrow park, (each cottage has its own wheelbarrow to help get daily provisions along to the house), maybe catching sight of a fox, a weasel or even on rare occasions a wild cat on the path. From Crovie you can look out to sea and be rewarded with the spectacular sight of a shoal of bottle-nosed dolphins (sometimes up to 35 at a time) and even a whale or a shark. There are two boats which take outings onto the North Sea and this is an event not to be missed. You can take a 20 minute walk along the pebbled beach to Gardenstown, where you can find the grocer - and even the candlestick maker! (a couple of art shops). The small Gardenstown Arms serves meals as well as a good stock of beers and malt whiskies.

The cottage looks like a traditional fisherman's cottage, painted white with red shutters and a red door, but walk through the heavy wooden door and you enter a modern, white minimalist interior full of light and surprisingly spacious.
Crovie is a special place- the best preserved ex fishing village in Scotland. The cottage is right on the sea wall which runs through the village so the sea is always present. The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfortable and very special. The cottage is about 300 years old but has everything to make your stay comfortable, warm and delightful. The sleeping spaces are reached up a very steep stairway - because of the open upstairs space, the cottage is not suitable for toddlers. I may be available during your stay but will be contactable before ,during and after your stay Crovie is a quiet and relaxing place. There are no amenities in the village. There are very few permanent residents but those that there are are respectful of the environment as should all visitors be. A car is essential. There are local buses from the nearby village but they are few and far between. A car will allow you to best see the glory of the countryside. The nearest shops are in Macduff and Banff, about 20 minutes drive away, although there is a Spar in Gardenstown, to which you can walk round the bay or along the new cliff top path The cottage is reached by a short walk along the sea bank. There is no car access. Cars are left in the nearby carpark and luggage is wheeled by you along the bank to the cottage. There is no disabled access.
A fantastic setting right on the sea - you couldn’t be closer ! Gorgeous sunsets and the noise of the waves to lull you to sleep

Once a simple old stone cottage dating back to the 1700s, Crossgates has been lovingly refurbished to become a charming characterful holiday home. Inside the small yet perfectly formed cottage is a welcoming sitting room with a wood burning stove that leads through to two lovely bedrooms. There is a well equipped kitchen where tasty meals can be prepared with ease. Completing the property is a toilet/shower room, a porch with seating and a large mature garden which wraps around the house.
This delightful detached cottage is totally private and ideal for couples, friends or a small family who want to explore this beautiful part of the North East of Scotland. Ideally situated for walkers, cyclists, anglers or those in search of a rural getaway, Crossgates sits quietly, without being overlooked in beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside, 40 miles North of Aberdeen.
The scenery provided by the breathtaking coastline and rolling landscape attracts many visitors. Walkers, artists, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts are all drawn to this wonderful unspoilt area. Although some guests never want to leave the cottage, you will find much of interest in North Aberdeenshire. We are always on hand to give local tips on where to go and how to discover special places. We have endless beach and cliff walks with opportunities to see a range of wildlife, with New Aberdour beach being the closest at just 2 miles away and Cullykhan beach being of special interest as home of the remarkable ‘Hells Lum’ Heading inland slightly you will find many castles, all within easy driving distance from the cottage. Fyvie and Delgatie are our favourites, but a visit to Slains is a must too, especially if you are intrigued by the theory that Bram Stoker conceived the idea for his infamous creation Dracula here. This ruin, perched on the cliff tops, with only the sound of crashing waves on the rocks below and the cry of seagulls, can easily become eery and is not for the faint hearted. The Moray Firth is home to a population of around 130 dolphins, one of only two pods in the UK. If you are lucky, you may spot them. Also for your pleasure on our stretch of the Moray Firth is fishing, scuba diving, boat trips and watersports. Macduff Marine Aquarium, Troup Head Gannet Collony, the RSPB Nature Reserve at Loch of Strathbeg and WCDS diving centre in spey bay are also available to show you the diverse activity in these amazing waters. On dry land but still keeping close to the seafront, you will marvel at The Bullers of Buchan, and Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum. Famous ports like Buckie, Fraserburgh and Peterhead, and smaller villages like Crovie or Pennan where ‘Local Hero’ was filmed give this region its character. The Banffshire Coast has been voted one of the top Coastline destinations in the World. With stunning cliff top paths and sprawling sandy beaches stretching from Cullen in the west to Pennan in the East, it’s just waiting to be explored. Our closest access point to this coastline is just 2 miles away at the charming, non commercial pebble beach at New Aberdour. Step back and take things at a slower pace, take time to appreciate the world around you, maybe even see the local fishermen landing their catch. The Banffshire Coast is also home to festivals if you care to plan your trip to our cottage for some celebrations; Speyside Festival, Coast Festival, Portsoy Boat Festival and Fishing Festival. We are within close proximity to some of Scotlands best distilleries and you may want to follow the whisky trail. Stray just a little further afield, Speyside Cooperage gives a fascinating insight into how barrels/casks are made. This cooperage (the only working one in the UK) takes you on a journey through the lifecycle of the cask and even allows you to see the skilled coopers at work. Learning about the ancient art of coopering is effortless given the interactive nature of the visit. Only a short drive away, there are 9 golf courses varying from links, heath and parkland. Aberdeenshire has an amazing selection of courses (70 no less). Whatever your handicap there will be one to suit you. Peterhead Prison Museum, Aden Country Park, Duff House, Baxters Highland Village and Story Book Glen are popular visitor attractions while Aberdeen, Europe’s oil capital, is an ancient city with a rich cultural heritage with much to see.

Gardenstown is a friendly, quiet, tranquil fishing village with a beautiful, working harbour so there are always lots of fishing boats to watch. There is a museum at the harbour and craft shops around the village. When the tide is out, guests can walk to the the nearby village of Crovie or for a more energetic walk, guests can take the hill path up to St John's Church which offers spectacular views of Gardenstown and the bay. There is a lovely tea room that is open Thursdays - Sundays inclusive which serves breakfasts and lunches. The village also has a pub and there is a shop at the top of the village.

The Blue Hoose, situated in an enviable position in Gardenstown harbour, is a converted fisherman's net store which has recently been renovated. This two bedroom property has direct views onto the harbour and Gamrie Bay from the living room, kitchen and spacious outdoor terrace. We welcome you to stay in one of Scotland's best kept secrets and enjoy a drink on the balcony, or a BBQ on the terrace while the waves roll in and the sun sets beyond.
The Blue Hoose sits right in Gardenstown Harbour with street parking on Harbour Road behind. The entrance brings you into the living room which has a balcony overlooking the harbour, perfect for summer sunsets and watching the tide roll in. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor and the kitchen is a double height space on the lower level. The kitchen leads onto a spacious veranda right next to the harbour which is ideal for summer evening meals and BBQs. Check-in is usually at the weekend but for alternative days please message us. We are also pleased to share that this property has a zero carbon energy footprint thanks to the use of electric central heating and the supply of renewable energy.
Gardenstown is one of Scotland's best kept secrets with a vibrant community. Unlike some of the smaller villages along this part of the coast there is still a large community here serviced by the school, the church, a shop and a great pub. In the summer the harbour is alive with locals and tourists enjoying the waters edge and the charity café that opens for 12 weeks. All year round an active fishing community ensure that there's always life in the harbour. Please visit the Gardenstown community Facebook pages for details of events. https://www.facebook.com/GardenstownVillageCommunity/ or the Discover Gardenstown page http://www.discovergardenstown.co.uk/ The Blue Hoose is immediately next door to the Gardenstown Heritage Centre (open in summer) which has a wealth of information about the history of the village.
