You’ll find horses grazing in the nearby fields from time to time, and breath-taking views across rolling hills. Luxurious 100 jet hut top is available to rent at an extra charge with a complimentary bottle of fiz. Bath robes will be provided. Free guest Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels, heating and hot water included. Ps. The cottage is a duplex design and the second bedroom is on the second floor reached through a stair case with no doors. Swallows' Barn is a beautiful converted granary 7 miles west of historic Durham City. It offers fabulous views over rolling farmland; spacious 4 star accommodation; country walks; open fires and a menagerie of livestock. Perfect for all the family. Dogs are welcome by prior approval at a small additional fee (see house rules).
Swallows Barn boasts sleeping for eight with 2 spacious main bedrooms (one with en-suite bathroom) and a third with 2 sets of adult sized bunk beds. Well away from the sounds of the city, the nights are very quiet, but mornings are often announced by the local cockerel, strutting his stuff in the farmyard. While this is fun for the hens and early birds, he can be locked up by request if a sleep-in is required! As well as the main bedroom benefiting from an en-suite, there is a family bathroom with bath and shower. The large, stone flagged kitchen area is well equipped with everything you could need including a microwave, dishwasher, and an electric cooker and grill. There is a large scrubbed pine dining table and a cozy seating area with a wood burning stove adding to the feel of a large comfortable country kitchen. The sunny sitting room has magnificent views over the hills and farmland. There is a large, well stocked wood burning fireplace and comfy sofas as well as a TV and DVD player. The washing/drying room next to the kitchen contains space for hanging clothes as well as a washing machine, drier, an ironing board and iron. Please note prices include all bedding and towels.
Guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the property. There are many rural walks in the locality with abundant bird life and animals. Swallow's Barn is only a couple of minutes drive from the village of Langley Park. Here you can find many local amenities such as grocery stores, take away food outlets and local pubs and restaurants. County Durham and the surrounding area has many local attractions to suit all ages including: The historical city of Durham with it's Cathedral and Castle. Beamish Museum, the beautiful Wear Valley as well as nearby Diggerland! A little further afield are Alnwick Castle (famous as the set of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies), Hadrian's Wall, Gateshead's Metro Centre (A shopper's paradise!) and the interesting cities of Newcastle and Sunderland. The Globe Hotel first opened in 2009 after undergoing a dramatic renovation. The Hotel now comprises of 8 beautifully decorated rooms, ranging from singles and twins to triples and family rooms. We offer shared bathroom facilities and a fully stocked usable kitchen. We are located in a quiet residential area of Gateshead, approximately 10min walk to Gateshead Town Centre and just over the bridge you will find Newcastle City Centre. We welcome all guests with open arms!
Upon arrival guests are asked to enter via the downstairs pub where our friendly staff will be expecting you. You will then be shown up to the hotel and given a tour of the facilities - bathrooms / kitchen etc - and then shown to your room. Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to express them to the staff and they will be more than happy to cater to your needs in any way they can. As we are located within a quiet residential area of Gateshead, we ask that all guests respect our neighbours especially when arriving at the hotel late of an evening. The Hotel has free accessible WIFI with the code: newcastle96. Should you experience any problems with connectivity please pop down and let one of the staff know and they will be more than happy to assist you. In the warmer months the heating is kept low to ensure a comfortable stay, however if you feel a chill and would prefer the heating on higher in your room please let us know and this will be done for you immediately. Can we ask all guests when cooking in the kitchen to make sure the kitchen door remains closed as we have very sensitive fire alarms that may be triggered due to heat from the kitchen. Modern, completely refurbished 2 bed 1st floor apartment in quiet cul-de-sac in the commuter town of Washington which is located right in the middle of a triangle covering Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland. After years of travelling, we've come to respect the space an apartment gives you compared to a chain hotel room and we've arranged the flat to offer comfort and simplicity with clean lines - all at a great price and always with the extra things we consider essential but others think of as optional extras. We always leave plenty of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, breakfast cereal, kitchen roll, salt, pepper and even things like oil and vinegar so you don't have to rush out to buy essntials. Albany is a lovely location within Washington. The flat is a situated in a quiet, private residential street/cul-de-sac with no through traffic. The A1 motorway is less than a mile away with access to Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle and Washington itself has a major shopping centre and retail park.

The rugby league magic weekend regularly takes place in Newcastle All of our local stadiums hold concerts throughout the Summer There is a large variety of shops and amenities in both Hetton le hole and Houghton le spring including a small Tesco store in Hetton and a Lidl supermarket in Houghton along and various concessions including Costa, Dominoes and Subway.     Simple, clean, comfortable single bedroom. Town centre is about a half hour walk or 5 minutes on regular bus routes for a small fair. There is a bus stop two minutes walk away. Local shops and amenities are all a very short walk away, located on front street. I live alone and am pretty laid back. I'll try to accomodate you if i can. You'll have a key so come and go as you please. I'm out quite a lot so you can make your self comfortable. Mi casa es vuestra casa!!!
    The room is a single bedroom. However there is plenty of storage. Wardrobe space, 2 bedside drawers and floor space at the bottom of the bed.

    Since my children have flown the nest I have wondered how I can share my home and its memories with others. AirBnB has allowed this to become a reality and I embrace the idea of sharing my home whilst meeting new people at the same time. I am a very sociable and bubbly person who loves to travel the world and learn about new cultures. I look forward to meeting you and hope to make your stay at my home a happy and memorable one.
    My newly renovated home is situated one mile from the Chester Le Street train station and one mile from the home of Durham County Cricket Club which hosts not only national and international cricket games but many other sports and music events. The guest bedroom is large with a new double bed and excellent quality bed linen. There is a bedside table, set of drawers and 32 inch television. There are also built in wardrobes for those who need extra storage for longer stays. For a more a more private hot drink in bed, there are tea and coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom is directly next to the guest bedroom and is also large. There is a walk in shower or a large corner, jacuzzi bath if you fancy relaxing for a little longer. All towels will be provided. There is also a downstairs toilet. The kitchen has all the mod-cons including a dishwasher so say good bye to washing up! Please feel free to use the kitchen at any time and basic store cupboard ingredients can be used throughout the stay if you want a home cooked meal. The breakfast room is directly off the kitchen and is a lovely space to either eat, work or relax. The lounge is a lovely room which I also call my haven. There is a large sofa that my children have termed...the comfiest sofa on the planet! During your stay you can relax whilst watching the television which also has a Netflix subscription. There are two gardens for use during your stay. The south facing back garden is a little sun trap and has seating and a table. The side garden is larger and great for the little ones to run around. A cot and high chair are available on request if you are staying with little ones. I am more than happy to have children stay at my home but they must be supervised throughout as I do not have any baby gates but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
    The best thing about my location is not only that is it less than 2 minutes drive from the A1(M), less than 10 minutes drive from the local train station and only 2 minutes from the closest main bus line but also that it is in a very quiet and safe part of Chester le Street. If you wanted a leisurely walk in to Chester le Street, this takes round 10 minutes and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to peruse. The North East has a beautiful coast line that can be explored from my home within 30 minutes and Northumberland a little further at an hour's drive. I cannot reconnect this more and can offer further information during your stay.

    This is a lovely room situated at the rear of my house. It looks onto lovely trees and gardens. It’s full of books left over from my children who have now flown the nest.
    It’s a light and airy room very tranquil and is south facing.
    I am close to as in 10 minutes walk from riverside stadium which hosts Durham Count Cricket. Also hosts concerts and different venues. Lumley castle is a very big wedding venue. Beamish museum which is a super day out for the family. The Northumberland coast about half an hour away. I could go on ...

    The location of Heworth is central to many different types of entertainment depending on your tastes .. the metro is as close at it can be without being bothersome but will take you in no time at all to some of the oldest historical sites such as Arabeia the Roman Fort or The priory at Tynemouth... There are many museums shops bars and restaurants in Newcastle City Centre renowned for its bustling night life ten minutes metro ride away (you can travel all day on the metro for about £5). Buses or trains with take you to the famous metrocentre for shopping, Durham cathedral, the Angel of the North or the very popular historical Beamish .. within a few minutes walk of the property is a small leisure centre boasting one of the country's few 'flow rider' surfing simulators for a very reasonable price as well as swimming pool

    We look forward to welcoming you to a lovely, large room on the ground floor of our home on a working farm. A great stay for visiting Beamish museum and Emirates Riverside stadium & cricket ground - both within 10 mins drive. Great access to walks through the fields and cycle path.
    The room is spacious and has an ensuite shower, and access to private toilet. There is space for muddy boots, coats and any other gear you wish to bring along. Breakfast is fairly simple - choice of cereals, milk, yoghurts, fruit, fresh loaf of bread with butter, jam or honey. Tea and coffee is provided in the room. Please let us know beforehand if you have any preferences or dietary requirements.
    We are close to Chester Le Street where you will find restaurants, shops, local market and much more. There is a local co-op supermarket 2 minutes drive away. 8 minutes drive away from Beamish museum, 15-20 minutes drive from Durham, Newcastle and Gateshead. There is a friendly local pub next door serving real ale.

    A quiet two bed semi in a small village, located high up on the Eastern edge of the Pennines. The house is light and airy with large windows. The gardens are wildlife havens with ponds used by native amphibians and native wild flowers for the bees and butterflies. In the summer you can relax on the decking under the canopy where a hammock is waiting for the ultimate chill out. A wood burning stove in the living room makes it cosy during the Winter months.
    As a horticulturist and conservationist I have created a garden rich in biodiversity. Shunning most exotic species the gardens front & back are filled with native wild flowers, shrubs and wildlife. Insects enjoy the varied plant life and amphibians court and breed in the ponds. All three native newt species can be seen as well as frogs. Birds visit the ponds to bathe and drink as well as forage for food among the plant life. There are hedgehogs, bats & owls to be seen and heard. The decking to the rear is a great place to relax and unwind. The canopy overhead means you can still sit out in the rain. I also hang a hammock over the decking during the warmer months and its a great place to spend time watching the wildlife or just to drift off to sleep. The guest bedroom overlooks the back garden and the long gardens mean the houses opposite are over 50 metres away. Beyond the rooftops are the trees of the plantation which you can explore. The plantation wraps around the Southern edge of the village from end to end. The guest room has plenty of wardrobe space as well as drawers and a good tall mirror. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom and has a sink, toilet and shower cubicle. The water pressure is really strong here so showers are a delight. You can make yourself at home in the kitchen to prepare your own meals should you wish. There is an electric cooker with four ring hob, grill and oven. You'll also find a kettle, toaster and most importantly a dish washer. Huzzah! In the dining area the large pine table is ideally situated so you can enjoy a view out onto the back garden. A wood burning stove in the living area is great should you require a bit of a comfort boost on chilly nights. With kindling, logs and paper on hand. Curl up on the sofa or in one of the large armchairs with a cuppa and a good book while the fire keeps you toasty and warm.
    Burnopfield is surrounded by excellent walking & cycling routes. The C2C route 7 runs at the bottom of the valley as well as the Bowes railway line which cuts through the woods at the top of the street. Tanfield railway and Causey Arch are also close by. A regular steam train runs along the 3 mile track and you can take a pleasant walk through the woods and cross the worlds first purpose built railway bridge. A 5 minute walk in almost any direction from the house will have you in open peaceful countryside. As well as all that we have major attractions like Gibside, a National Trust property at the bottom of the hill, is a 2 minute drive. Famed for its wildlife and SSSI parkland landscape it was home to the Bowes Lyon family and was a favourite spot of the late Queen Mother. Award winning Beamish open air museum is 15 minutes drive. Allow a good full day to take it all in. 10 minutes away is The Metro Centre for all your indoor shopping needs, it also has a cinema as well as a host of independent and franchise eateries. Historic market towns like Morpeth, Hexham and Durham are just a short drive away. Buses from Burnopfield high street to Newcastle, the Metro Centre and Gateshead are frequent. Shops in the village include three general stores, a bakers/sandwich shop, holistic beauty salons, hairdressers and several takeaways. Two of the pubs offer some great live music and one does food. There are three golf courses all within a few minutes drive and other pubs as well as cafes offering good food and drink. Down below in Rowlands Gill is a small Tesco as well as a cafe, pet food store and florists. Two small restaurants Italian & Chinese and a gym. Above us in The Hobson is another pub and a small coffee shop The Joinery. Within the industrial estate is another gym. Further afield you can drive within 20 minutes to the North Pennines AONB and explore the rugged countryside of Weardale and Teesdale. Some enchanting villages and breath taking scenery mixed with historic ruins from the expansive mining history. Natural beauty surrounds you such as Derwent reservoir, High Force and Hannahs Meadow. Plant hunters will enjoy finding the hidden gems of the Teesdale Assemblage. Distinct and rare plant species left from the last ice age, most of which are found nowhere else in the UK. For history buffs the newly opened Land of Oak and Iron visitor centre and cafe is along the valley. You can find out about the local mining history and maps show a variety of walks.

    I live in a recently refurbished 1920's semi detached house 5 miles outside of Durham and 8 miles from Newcastle. The ground floor has large kitchen dining living area, small sitting room and cloak room. large bi folding doors lead on to a garden terrace and lawned private garden. second floor has 2 double bedrooms and shared bathroom, 3rd floor has a comfortable double guest bedroom with stunning views over Lumley Castle and park lands.
    The house is situated in a lovely area close to Durham county cricket ground (Riverside Stadium), Riverside park, historic 14th century castle (Lumley Castle), Chester-le-st golf club all within 5 minute walking distance. Local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Newcastle city centre, Northumberland Coast and Durham Dales are a short drive away or easily reached by frequent public transport.

    Private double room and bathroom available in a family home 2.5 miles from the centre of Durham in a quiet friendly area. There is a large shared living and dining space available and I will provide a simple breakfast for you to help yourself to and a well stocked kitchen if you prefer to cook. Durham is an easy 10 minute drive away or there is also an excellent local bus service. By foot its a 50 minute walk into Durham through a traffic free local nature reserve with lovely cathedral views.
    There's usually only me these days with occasional visits from my well behaved teenagers.
    There are local shops a minute walk away for local stocks and the Arnison retail park is a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive with a choice of places to eat and drink and satisfy any retail therapy needs.

Also ideal for short term lets eg between moving houses, work contracts or mature students. Reliable, regular bus routes to and from Durham.
    The modern kitchen/diner contains all modern amenities such as: microwave, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, fan oven/gas hob, slow cooker, plates/crockery, glasses, pots/pans and trays etc for the oven. There is also a dining table seating four. In the lounge, the house has large tv, comfortable sofa and armchair and reliable WiFi. In addition there is a downstairs WC. Upstairs, there are two larger bedrooms containing double beds and drawers/wardrobe. There is also a single bedroom with a single bed. The bathroom has recently been refurbished which includes an over-bath shower. Also upon request contains bedding, towels, toilet roll etc.
    Sacriston is a village in County Durham located between Durham and Chester-le-Street. The Beechwood Estate is around 6 years old and the house itself is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. There is a tesco extra, post office and various take-away places in the village.

In a quiet location, away from the hustle and bustle of overpriced tourist hot spots, without compromising on easy access to Durham as well as other surrounding cities and attractions, thanks to an excellent public transport links and a close proximity to A1.
    You will find everything you may need for a comfortable stay at Segerston Burrow.
    Sacriston is a lively village with a large number of shops for a village of it's size, including: Tesco Express, Herons, two other convenience stores, a greengrocer, an excellent butcher shop, newsagent, barbershop, off-licence, travel agent and two charity shops amongst others. Therefore, you will not have to travel far for supplies, as we are lucky to have several well stocked up and reasonably priced stores at our doorstep. If you are environmentally conscious and shop ‘plastic free’, you are in for a treat, as most of our local stores, as well as takeaways will be happy to pack your shopping ‘unwrapped’ into your own bags and Tupperware. Our local ‘New Close’ farm shop, that opens it's doors every Thursday to Saturday, supplies a large variety of organic produce, meat and diary amongst other eco-friendly products. If you are planning on enjoying a few takeaways while you are here, you will be surprised with an abundance of choice (and attractive price range!), as Sacriston is famous locally for an unusual number of takeaways. Surrounding areas will offer you plenty walking opportunities to burn those calories of; so, if you are an outdoor enthusiast, or will be travelling with a dog, the surroundings are plentiful of scenic walks, such as Waldrige Country Park, Finchale Priory or Browney River banks, where you will be able to re-connect with nature and let your four legged companion roam freely.
