Hera is situated to the north of villa Mir, allowing you direct views to Svala beach from the balcony. It has 2 single beds joined together, a kitchen area with all necessary kitchen facilities and can be joined with apartment Xenia (3), making it ideal for groups of 4 people.
Villa Mir has 5 spacious apartments, all with balconies, comfortable mattresses, large feather pillows and all apart one, kitchens. There is a huge private garden with deck chairs and a shared veranda on the front.
Hera a is suitable for groups up to 4 people which like to have privacy but also be flexible as it can be joined with Xenia (3) to the left. This apartment has two single XL beds joined together (split king), with big feather pillows ensuring that you enjoy your night sleep, as comfortable as possible. The net over the bed gives this apartment unique character and an undisturbed night sleep.
The balcony is large, allowing spectacular views, to the north of the valley, while overlooking the garden on the back of villa Mir. There you can find a marble table with a couple of iron chairs, making it ideal for a night drink, while the sun sets down. From the balcony you can see directly at the sea and Svala beach.
The apartment has a modern bathroom with a shower, recently renovated. There is a small window there facing west. Storage space is available as there is a large closet. Inside the apartment, you can also find a wooden table and a couple of wooden chairs for a meal inside the apartment or a working place.
Outside, the apartment shares a huge garden with the rest of the villa, where you can relax on the many deck chairs available or the hammock under the shadow of two large palm trees. There is a table with benches there where you can also enjoy a coffee or a drink in the evening. The veranda on the front is also another option for late drinks and relaxation time after your day excursions
There are a few other villas around, but all are in a distance, giving you unique privacy and amazing quietness. Being in a valley, you can hear the birds at night and from your balcony, including peacocks and you can see the sky changing colours as the sun sets. If you want to view the sunset directly, we recommend visiting Svala beach, one the nicest beaches of Samos, situated around 200m from the villa. For the more private of you, walk towards the right side end of Svala beach, where you will find a small private beach, secluded from the rest of the people.
There are many more beaches both to the left and right of villa Mir, on a walking or bike ride distance. Access with a car to all those beaches takes only minutes. Driving towards Samos town you have in order Tsambou beach (walking distance), Avlakia, Tsamadou, Lemonakia and Kokkari village after around 7 km.
Driving towards Karlovasi, and just 2km away is the village of Agios Konstantinos, where you can find cafes, restaurants, including our favourite AAA, where gourmet meets Greek local dishes. For the more traditional seafood lovers go to Aiolos tavern situated on the seafront where the waves are only meters away from your table. Terpsis, is one of the best patisseries in Samos with amazing home-made ice creams, a must visit from everyone with not just a sweet tooth, but who also wants to try unique ice cream flavours and amazing Greek sweets. Our favourite one is Pistachio and Kaimaki.
From Agios Konstantinos you can also walk South to Platanakia area (sycamore trees), where, as the name suggests, you will be in a forest full of sycamore trees, with running water flowing everywhere. There is a natural spring water tap (opposite AAA restaurant) we recommend you try the water there as is one of the best found on the island. This is the start of many of the Nightingale hike paths, some of the best in Samos island. Continue past Agios Konstantinos and in 20 km you come to the town of Karlovasi. The neoclassical buildings demonstrate the past of this trading town, now housing the department of mathematics and statistics for the University of Aegean. Past Karlovasi, you have Potami, and the spectacular beaches of Micro (small – 30m hike) and Megalo (large – 60m hike) Seitani. In Potami it is worth visiting the water falls, reached after 20 mins walk between the trees of an amazing forest with flowing waters.
On the south of villa Mir you also have the village of Vourliotes. Sights in and around Vourliotes are the Byzantine church of Agios Ioannis, the Castle Louloudas (2.5 km. outside the village) and the Monastery of the Holy Mother Vrondiani dating back the 15th century. A little further away are the castle of Lazaros and the remains of a medieval settlement.
Vourliotes is a very suitable village for hikers, as nature here is wonderful. You will find marked mountain trails that hikers can follow. Very nice is the source of Pnaka (2 km. away from Vourliotes and can be walked from villa Mir) with lots of sycamore trees and running water. In the village of Vourliotes live around 700 permanent residents and has a few nice restaurants and cafes. Around the village are many vineyards and this area is also well known for the good wine which is produced.
Traditional celebrations are held a few times a year, the most important ones are those of Agia Marina on July 17, the Blessed Mother from 1 to August 15 and the feast of Panagia Vrondiani on 7th and 8th September.
