History Museum
“I staged a show about our nurses in WWII who served on the hospital ships in the galleries of this Museum and in the process discovered how fabulous and interesting this museum is. I'm not naturally drawn to ships and boats and things about the sea, but I love this place. It tells much of the history of our people (Māori, Pasifika, European) who settled in New Zealand and who of course came here by sea. Out front is a replica of Black Magic, our Americas Cup winning boat, and inside a gallery dedicated to our top sailing competitors. The Museum is situated in converted water sheds on our downtown harbour, effectively on the doorstep of our city, surrounded by bars and restaurants, and next to the dock which takes you to Waiheke Island.”

“Mount Hobson was created into a Domain for the betterment of the People of Auckland, New Zealand under the 1882 Domains Act by the local people of Remuera - the Flowers including Periwinkle, Blue Blues, Cinerias, African Iris were all gifted by David Hay and Son who had Montpellier Nursery, Seaview Road, Remuera in the 1880's. See if you can find the Honey Bees hive on Mount Hobson!! Mount Hobson used to have Alderney Cattle grazing on it in 1906. Horses used to stop and drink water from the troughs on the way through Auckland. Sheep also grazed on there as did Peter Linton's family's cows up until some senseless, uneducated people decided they know better about New Zealand's history.”
