Enjoy the peaceful, rural setting of this unique telescoping house. Set in acres of farmland, this quiet and tranquil home helps you to unplug and relax. Take a walk down the street to the Sassafras river or explore the local area.
This was the original two-story building of Historic Morton Hall (built in the late 1600's). It has been completely renovated and updated. Downstairs is the private screened-in porch which enters into the great room. A small slate foyer leads into the space (approx. 16 ft. x 20 ft) which is the living room/dining room/kitchen with a upholstered trundle (not pop-up) daybed. Plenty of windows to look out over the countryside and provide natural light. Go upstairs (using the pocket staircase) to the bedroom/loft. This open floor (approx. 16 ft. x 20 ft.) is bright and huge! Up a small staircase (5 steps) is the bathroom - gorgeously tiled with a large, all glass shower and a window to enjoy the views.
Space has double pane/double hung Pella windows, top of the line GE appliances, custom all wood closet system, and spa like bathroom. You may never want to leave!
The king-sized bed in large upstairs bedroom includes high end linens and a selection of pillows such as feather, synthetic and memory foam. The private bathroom has an over-sized shower. Toilet paper, towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste and other items are provided. Open closet is spacious and allows for both folded and hanging clothes. Extra towels, pillows, blankets and bed linens are kept here, along with an iron and ironing board.
A fully stocked kitchen, includes full-sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, pots, pans, plates, glasses, cutlery, spices etc. Everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. A Keurig machine with options for coffee, tea and cocoa. Paper towels, dish liquid, sponges and hand towels are included.
Window air conditioning unit in bedroom. Baseboard electric heaters throughout the upstairs and downstairs provide heat during cold weather.
Enjoy the morning or evenings on the quiet, screened in porch.
Plenty of easy parking.

We are 1/4 mile off the Foxhole Landing which is a public boat ramp to the Sassafras River, so if you are into fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, jetskiing or waterskiing, this is a lovely location and access point. The landing is an ideal put-in site for canoes and kayaks, though paddling this stretch of the river is only recommended at high tide. There is a blue heron rookery directly across from the landing, and the upper Sassafras winds past wooded bluffs where numerous kingfishers perch in search of unsuspecting prey. In late summer, the shoreline near the Route 301 Bridge is lined with wild rice and cattails, and in the fall, tickseed sunflowers add a splash of gold to the scenery. Upriver from the landing, the waterway peters out in a tangle of fallen trees after 2 miles, just below the old mill town of Sassafras. Heading downriver, it is approximately 3 miles to Georgetown, with numerous creeks worth exploring on both sides.
The house is NOT handicap accessible. Access to upstairs bedroom and bath is a pocket staircase.
This is a historic property and a quiet, rural area. Well-behaved pets are allowed and welcome. No smoking is allowed anywhere in or on the property.
This has been a slow and ongoing, 20+ years labor of love, sweat and tears. Please care for this property as you would your own.
