300 sq. ft. studio is light and airy with a huge window overlooking the farm. It has a separate entrance with queen bed and single futon (inflatable available), bath with shower and kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker). As we are in the country, cell phone and internet service is variable. Do the city by day and retreat to the tranquil country at night. 9 miles to C'ville.

Chopping Bottom Farm dates back to King George II and 1730, at the foot of the Southwest Mts, it has incredible views. We've been here for 22 years and love country living and we'll make sure you do too. You're welcome to walk the farm, swim in the pool and drive scenic 231, one of the most beautiful roads in the country.

Keswick Hall with fine and casual dining is around the corner, Clifton Inn (Relais & Chateau) is nearby and in Gordonsville, 11 miles north, there's a gourmet takeout place (Pomme To Go) and its namesake, Pomme, a good French restaurant.

What a BEAUTIFUL, unique and wonderful landscape and place! We had some misunderstandings and my memories are bittersweet, Tony and her wife seem pretty interesting people to meet but they were away, and that's why I think we had some "problems"; in the Amenities logos descriptions say that there is a kitchen, when the real thing is a kitchenette, fridge and microwave. I have a very hard diet and I was really looking for a kitchen, we went to use the outdoor grill then, but was out of gas... Thankfully they allowed us to use their kitchen, so we are thankful for that but definitely the will need to update the Airbnb description. The doggies are lovely, but as soon as the housekeeper left at 6am they will come up to our door and start to cry... The art Studio is nice but I didn't love to see the artist tools and shelves, it was a little messy. The internet didn't work at all. They just leave 2 disposable plates and some dirty plasticware.. Nothing to clean the dishes with. We loved the landscape, the friendly doggies and the pool :)

Thanks for pointing out that we had mistakenly checked "kitchen". We're new at this and thought we'd made it cler we have a kitchenette. Always good to have guests help us fine tune the Chopping Bottom experience.

This was our first AirBnB & it couldn’t have been better. All of the other positive reviews proved true. Annie and Tony are hospitable, but also respectful of your privacy. They’re space is clean, eclectic, and all around enjoyable.

Superb find! So grateful to be a guest at the farm and enjoyed immensely. Would have enjoyed a longer stay. So much history at the farm and nearby attractions. This is truly a unique experience-loved walking and relaxing on the grounds. Had a blast feeding the horse and donkey and some of the friendliest dogs I’ve run across. Neat couple that affords plenty of privacy but has everything you need documented and made sure to introduce themselves. Great stay and hope to return.

The highlight of our stay was walking the property! It's lovely and peaceful. The studio is exactly as advertised. I recommend Tony and Annie's place for anyone looking for a quiet getaway but don't want to be too far from the excitement of Charlottesville.

Tony and Annie's place was perfect for my wife and I and our three-month-old baby. The room--a loft on top of the garage--is absolutely huge. It's also exceptionally secluded: The farm is set back quite a distance from the road and the garage and loft aren't connected to the main house. The room was comfortable (the bed was just a little bit on the hard side for my taste), with everything we needed, including a fridge and a coffee maker. Tony/Annie said hello when we checked in and checked out, but otherwise afforded us our privacy. There were also nice touches, such as a local dining guide that led us to great pancakes at Tip Top Restaurant. Their four dogs were also really friendly. The location was beautiful and convenient to the Clifton Inn and Keswick Hall, while only a short drive to Charlottesville too.

I am a recovering ad man turned novelist/writer with three books out and two more on the way. Annie, my wife, is a flower designer and her studio is the one we are offering to guests.
