The Tack House constructed in the 1960s by well-known design build architects Dave Sellers and William Reineke is a funky unique treehouse style space of Vermont architecture on Warren VTs famed Prickly Mountain. Enjoy amazing views and the Prickly swimming pond!
PLEASE read description carefully and ask questions prior to booking.
The apartment at Prickly Mountain is a very unique space. It's basically 3 levels connected by ladders and small entrance up a few stairs. You enter the front door of the home into a mud room, then face two doors, one oval shaped straight ahead to apt. You enter going left up a narrow staircase to the first floor of the apartment. This has low clearance so mind your head.
The first floor consists of a small sitting area with two stored twin-size mattresses if needed for sleeping. This level is cozy and does not get a lot of light. There is one window that opens on this level.
The second floor is accessible by a platform and ladder. There is a kitchenette equipped with a toaster oven, microwave, double sink and mini fridge. There is no stove. There is also a very unique rustic small bathroom with a side-saddle toilet and a glass-enclosed shower in the living area. There is another sitting area on this level. There is also a sleeping area with a queen size mattress on the floor that can be made semi-private by pulling down a curtain. From this floor there is a large window with a great view of Camels Hump Mt and the Mad River Valley. There is an A/C unit on this level that keeps the temperature on this level and the loft very comfortable.
Finally, there is a third floor loft accessible by ladder with another full mattress.
As there is a narrow staircase that is used to enter the apartment, and ladders to travel between the floors, so we don't recommend the apartment for young children or elderly.
Serveis i zones comuns

Reviews from earlier listing:
This was one of the most interesting houses I've rented. If you are interested in art, architecture, mid century and feel something out of ordinary, this is your place. The heat was great, pretty well stocked kitchen for a cabin type living and toaster+microwave will get you through, since there's no oven. Be prepared to climb ladders. Loved it!
Had a lovely stay at the Tack House - interesting to explore the surrounding area and beautiful views from the apartment.
The house was amazing!! Though I suggest getting there during the day to fully understand the set up of the house. The backyard view was beautiful and Candy was more than extremely helpful in helping us get situated and find places to go. She recommended some really good breakfast and food places as well as hiking trails and places in Burlington. We could not have asked for a better house to stay at or better hosts. Highly recommend!!!!!
Lovely stay in this special house in Vermont! Candy was a great host and as it turned out a great painter too! She showed us some of her work and we liked it a lot... Would certainly come back here!
We loved it!!! Space was perfect for mom and adult daughter to enjoy Vermont. House is eclectic---we appreciated this architectural find in the mountains of Vermont, but for some it might be too strange. Very quiet, very clean. Candy was available, but gave us plenty of space to be alone and relax. Views are amazing, pond is great swimming. We will be back!
We had a great time at the tack house apartment in a beautiful area of Vermont. Our host Candy, was very nice and accommodating, had many words of advice on places to go in the area. The house was very unique with some amazing architecture. Perfect for a couple willing to climb a little latter to get to the sleeping area, or a group of 4 willing to sleep in two different levels in the same room. Did some hiking and swimming and would certainly go back! Thanks sabra and candy !
We enjoyed our stay in this quirky little house which is in a picturesque part of Vermont. The house isn't terribly practical for a family of four and the facilities are pretty basic.
Sabra responded v promptly and Candy is a gracious, warm and welcoming host; her insights and local tips were all spot on. We had a super time and didn't want to leave - definitely plan on coming back! The apartment itself is a quirky treehouse, we loved being able to get a sense of the design build/ architectural improv examples firsthand - both through staying at the Tack House apartment itself and visiting neighboring examples. Vermont's big sky and bucolic vistas are not bad either!
This listing is a really unique and rustic house. Its definitely a one of a kind experience and stay. Candy was especially hospitable and had a lot of stories about the area and her family. We got to pick some blueberries and raspberries from the garden - excellent outdoors-y location.
The apartment is spacious, well-decorated, and very cool. Candy was a great host who gave great food and coffee recommendations. We loved staying there, and we'd love to come back again sometime!
Please strip beds at the end of your stay.
