The information provided on this rental was misleading. The only parts of the "farm" that were safely accessible were the dilapidated ranch house and side yard. 2 other individuals were staying in the house at the same time which made the one bathroom and small kitchen even more problematic. The property was not in very good condition and would need a significant amount of renovation to warrant the amount of money that we were charged for our stay. I could not recommend this property to anyone. -D.B. My sister and her husband and two boys booked this "farmhouse" for this past weekend (Friday, Saturday, and supposedly Sunday nights – though after the first night she decidedly did not want to stay a third night) so she could do the Ironman race on Sunday. I live in Chicago and she invited me to join them, so I drove over on Saturday and stayed overnight. When I first looked at the listing I could've sworn that it was listed at $80 per night with $10per night for each additional guest over four. When I found out that my sister was paying close to $300 per night I was dumbstruck. (It is now listed at $195). I suppose if what was described in the listing were glowingly fulfilled, perhaps $300 would make sense. What we actually got was more in line with $80 expectations. It's not a "farmhouse" in any architectural sense - it's a small, 1970's American suburban tract house on a lot in the middle of the countryside. Listing it as a "farmhouse" gives the impression of spaciousness - the listing admits that the kitchen is small, but so are the two living rooms, the bathroom, and the bedroom - small and crowded (and musty smelling). The listing is also very unclear as to what the guest is getting - the whole house? just the loft? All of which would be fine for $80 but feels like a scam at $300. some very noticeable problems: - no one seemed to have any idea that we were coming - the floors were dirty - there were bugs – fruit flies, gnats, and lots of crickets (fine outside but irritating right under your bed or in every corner) - the table and chairs were sticky - in the way that old, thrift store furniture gets - the varnish is deteriorating - the toilet wouldn't flush - I am capable of taking off the tank lid and pulling the lever for the flap up by hand, but at $300 a night? hardly. (the tank fixtures are very old and therefore too heavy for the little plastic replacement toilet handle that has obviously been stripped by the weight of the fixtures) - the tile on the floor in the kitchen and bathroom (also the wall by the toilet) is not properly finished on the edges and is therefore very sharp and kind of dangerous - the banister on the stair wall going up to the...

I am a Sales Manager of a Wine and Spirits company. I have lived all over the country, but have presently landed in Chicago the last 9 years. I live with (and usually always travel with) my newly married husband (aka partner of 10 years) who I live with in Chicago as well as on our Farm in Michigan. We have traveled to every continent except Antartica together and enjoy unique experiences, off the beaten path/road/mountain/boat/building adventures and always try to avoid the masses of tourists. We own a multi-unit building so we are also landlords and AirBnb hosts. We are therefore very respectful of people's property and hope you will respect ours as well. We are very active (I also am a group fitness instructor) and love natural/local foods. We have a farm in Southwest Michigan where we practice permaculture techniques and grow naturally organic food.
