Stay in a bright historic room in the heart of Grand Rapids. This house was built in 1902 and is in Heritage Hill, a designated historic district. About a mile to downtown (Heartside) & Cherry Hill, and Medical Mile is even closer! Quiet street. Guests have access to living room, kitchen and dining. Pets welcome! Please note that I do own two cats, although they are not allowed in the guest room.
Bedroom is on the second floor with two windows, so there is a lot of natural light. The bed is a full size bed. The room also has a large closet for hanging clothes and an empty dresser for storage. I have central air conditioning in the summer time and central heat in the winter. Sometimes the house is cold in the winter (old house, bad insulation), so the room also comes equipped with a space heater and and extra quilt. Also sometimes the doors stick, especially in the summer months when the wood swells.
Bathroom is semi-shared; I mostly use the bathroom downstairs so the upstairs bathroom is largely for guest use only. I provide towels, but no soap or shampoo - you'll need to bring your own toiletries. Of course, if you forget something we certainly can work something out!
There are two cats that live on the premises - I try very hard to keep up with the cat hair, but this is probably not a place for someone with allergies. I keep the guest room door closed to keep it as pet hair free as humanly possible.
There is off street parking available and it is easy to find a place; the spots are unmetered. In the winter (Nov-Mar), opposite side snow-plowing rules apply and you'll need to move your car back and forth across the street in the evenings. Spots are ample so this is usually not a big deal - I do it every day!
I do not provide breakfast, but I do provide self service tea and coffee in the kitchen.
I try to be flexible with check in and check out. You can check in as late as you want and if you want to arrive early I can take your things and store them if your room isn't ready.
Serveis i zones comuns
Guests have access to the living room, kitchen, dining room, patio and both bathrooms. Washer/Dryer located in the basement and is free. Basically, you have access to the entire house except for my bedroom and office (which are connected).
Interacció amb els hostes
I will interact with my guests as much as they would like; I'm happy to give recommendations and chats, or I'm also happy to leave people alone. There is plenty of space in the house! I rented part of my apartment when I lived in New York City for the better part of a year on AirBnb and I enjoyed getting to meet new and interesting people.
Altres aspectes destacables
I am dog sitting my aunt's miniature Australian Shepard during January and February 2018. If you book during those months there will be a dog on the premises as well. I occasionally dogsit for my good friend (who cat sits for me!) - he is a chill, 12 lbs, 12 year old hypoallergenic bichon/shitzhu mix and mostly sleeps all day.
Long term guests are welcome!
