You will find this remote barn conversion with simple furnishings, offers tranquility, countryside views, wonderful wildlife and a private garden. It's an excellent base for visiting the Cotswolds, Cheltenham, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick or Silverstone. Curl up in front of a wood burner and enjoy a break from technology or step outside the garden onto the bridleway to explore. We welcome all visitors and well behaved dogs who want to venture down our bumpy track and meet our children and geese!
There is a spacious hall area with hanging space for walking and cycling gear. You can enter the house via the kitchen or through the front door into the hallway. The stairs lead up from this hall.
The sitting room is cosy with pretty views across the fields. The furnishing is simple but comfortable and there is a TV which you can use to watch DVDs (but there’s no TV reception for terrestrial or satellite TV). The futon sofa unfolds into a bed and you can snuggle down in the glow of the wood burner if you wish. The evening sun shines into the room, making it a great place to relax after a day exploring on foot, by bike or by car. There is a night storage heater and the wood burner for cooler evenings and we provide wood at £3/night. If you aren't sure how to light the fire, we're on hand to help.
The kitchen is well equipped with good quality pans and cooking utensils. If there's anything you haven't got, please just ask us. There is a table in the kitchen which unfolds to seat 4. If the Aga is running and you want to give it a go, you'll find an Aga Cookbook in the cupboard and we're very happy to share some tips to get you started. If Aga cooking sounds scary, you can simply use the electric cooker, slow cooker or microwave. (Please don't be disappointed if you find the Aga is not lit during the warmer months. It makes the house too hot and we want you to be as comfortable as possible.)
Upstairs, there is a bright and airy bedroom with a comfortable double bed. There is plenty of storage space for your clothes. We love the views up the bridle way from the window.
The second bedroom contains two single beds. There is limited storage in the room but guests can use the cupboard on the landing which has hanging space and a shelf.
The bathroom is upstairs. There are steps between the bedrooms and the bathroom but we have night lights to help you find your way in the dark.
Your garden is fenced with post-and-rail and there is a combination of flower beds, lawn and patio. There is a table and chairs on the patio and a barbecue too. The gravelled area provides plenty of parking for 2 or 3 cars and there is a gate if you need it.
You might hear owls at night and see bats flying around when the weather is warmer. Hares, deer, badgers and foxes all pass through the garden and there is a large wild bird population.
Although this is a simple property, it is very appealing to people who like to get away and relax in a quiet and natural spot. There is very little light pollution so it's a wonderful place for star gazing. You might also like to contact Chipping Norton Amateur Astronomy Group to get details of their organised events - and we've left a torch in the house for you to use during your stay!

Our track is bumpy but perfectly accessible provided you aren't in a sports car.
Interacció amb els hostes
We live in the only neighbouring property and we will introduce ourselves and show you around whenever possible. If we are going to be out when you arrive we will let you know in advance and make arrangements to hand over the key. We will always say "hello" when we get home.
IMPORTANT! There is no mobile phone signal in either of the properties. We will give you our landline number when you book and there is a phone you can use in Mill Holm. We always do our best but we hope you will forgive us if we are a sometimes a bit slow to respond. It's not that we don't care about you, it's just that we haven't got your message.
If you would like us to arrange food for your arrival we can provide a yummy breakfast pack (local organic unhomogenized full fat or semi skimmed milk, Dorset Cereals, 2 bread rolls, butter and a jar of jam or marmalade - £4/head) or a cooked breakfast pack (2 local sausages, 2 rashers of local bacon and 2 local eggs plus 2 bread rolls and tomatoes or mushrooms - £7/head). We often keep a selection of ready meals and ready to cook meals from local farm shops in our freezer and we can provide you with these if you're looking for something quick and easy to eat one evening. Please let us know if you require any food within 7 days of your arrival so we can be sure to have what you want.
Altres aspectes destacables
In summer we sometimes have cows in the neighbouring fields. They don't usually make much noise but you will hear them moo at times.
Well behaved children and dogs are welcome in Mill Holm but please be aware that there are several steps on the first floor, as well as the main stairs. You will pass over the River Stour when you arrive and this flows through our garden. You don't have access to the river from the Mill Holm garden.
Your water comes from our spring and it is fully filtered and treated with UV light before it reaches the tap. The water is completely safe and has a fresh, natural taste. The water is pumped around the house and you will hear the pump when it's running - so we suggest you don't flush the loo at night!
Our double duvets and some of our pillows contain feathers. Please let us know if this is a problem for you and we'll do our best to provide an alternative. We use cotton bed linen and it is washed with non-biological, eco-friendly products.
If you plan to eat out and you need suggestions on places that serve vegan food or provide information on allergens, please ask us. If we don't have any ideas ourselves, we'll ask our friends and pass on their recommendations.

With a young family and a business to run, life is full, fun and busy. From swimming and sailing to yoga, walking and cycling, there is always something to do. Our garden is an ongoing project and we all enjoy cooking outdoors. In quieter moments, I love to read and bake.
