I keep my apartment clean at all times. I do, however, live there, so obviously items that belong to me might be in the living room. To say that the downstairs was dirty, particularly the living room, which I never really use and never really has anything in it, indicates that this person might have personal issues beyond what could possibly be accommodated for by a host, particularly a shared host. As someone who has used Airbnb extensively myself, and having hosted many hundreds of other people, I can say with some confidence that when this guest arrived, my apartment was organized. Being somewhat obsessed with cleanliness myself - to say that my apartment was “cluttered” in any sense when you arrived is simply dishonest.
Any concerns she may have had, were not raised when I met her as she arrived, and so I was not able to address them.
The tools lying around consist of a drill sitting on a table, a ratchet set in the entry way, and a screwdriver in the kitchen bowl.
The “clothes lying around” refer to a couple jackets I’d left on a chest in the living room.
I don’t leave dishes in the sink unless the dishwasher is running so I can only imagine that she is referring to maybe some glasses of water left in the sink.
Please do not burden other people with your personal limitations - you clearly know your limitations - either learn how to cope with them gracefully or shell out for a hotel.
