Over the course of 18 months, we’ve received 60 ratings; 58 5-star and 2 4-star ratings, nothing less. And we’ve had many wonderful and appreciative guests. Now we have something different with Angie Chin. I will address some of what she has said, but I would like to first note that her group LEFT OUR HOUSE A FILTHY MESS, which I will detail later.
Ms Chin is either exaggerating or being untruthful in her comments. As reflected in ALL our ratings (e.g. see Tom below) our house is impeccably clean. Any minor issue that arose was immediately addressed. I explained to her that things can happen that are out of our control (one of the cleaning ladies called in sick, so the team took a little bit longer). When the bottle of syrup was spilled by the previous guest in an upper kitchen cabinet, it concealed the bottle and attracted ants. When Ms Chin told us about ants, we had a pest control company make an EMERGENCY CALL, arriving within 3 HOURS on a SUNDAY afternoon. We have a 100% response rate and 5 star communication rating. The problem was resolved immediately. We’ve never, ever had a comment about kitchen smells in the cottage or main house.
At the time of her arrival, cable TV was not working in the little cottage. The cable company addressed it and we voluntarily refunded Ms Chin 3 % ON THE ENTIRE WEEK LONG RENTAL as compensation for 5 days without cable in the cottage. We believe that was generous.
Regarding noise, you won’t see anything in our reviews because Ms Chin is exaggerating in the extreme. The train arrives down the main road and there are local noise ordnances for restaurants. We have an excellent relationship with our neighbors.
Guests have the option of disarming pool door alarms, but they are supposed to be connected upon arrival. It’s the law because terrible things can happen with small children present.
As mentioned, Ms Chin and her group left our house absolutely filthy. They didn’t bother to throw trash out, with garbage left throughout the house. The kitchen was a disaster. It looked as if they had never cleaned countertops, floors were soiled and dirty dishes were piled in the sink.
On the day of departure, Ms Chin’s last of many complaints was that a couple of our trees weren’t properly trimmed (We have over 60 trees!) She's simply an unreasonable person. Then, when the cleaning team arrived, the cottage door was unlocked and the key to the main house was gone. They lost it, completely irresponsible.
We’ve had virtually no problems with guests through Airbnb, and always had respectful conversations. However, we knew that we would eventually encounter a bad apple. It’s understandable that a group that is so dirty and irresponsible would cover up their actions, but our record speaks for itself.
