"All I want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night air... Not, too stuffy please. I want to sleep well and be comfortable when I wake. I want to walk to cool spots and park my car without a hassle." Congratulations! You found us!
I live here with a 40 something housemate -- a chemist for a local brewery. He's quiet and friendly. So am I. My politics are on the left, and I prefer classical and jazz music, but more often than not, just the sounds of the great outdoors. I smoke, so you can, too. But please don't burn anything!
If you have to visit Cleveland regularly for business and wish you could just store your belongings in one place -- a comfortable place to land each time you return, or if you'd like to have a "pied a terre" closer to your work, this room can provide a comfortable alternative to hotel life. It can also be a great spot for a graduation weekend, a wedding or just visiting the land of Cleve.
We also share the house with a 5 year old mixed breed 25lb pooch who is learning her manners. She's house-broken and learning to not jump up to greet visitors. She does not kiss on the first date, so we ask that you let her get to know you.

I am a Clevelander and happy to suggest spots you may not have discovered via tripadvisor. I'm almost always here, give good directions and (season dependent) can share the fruit of my labor in the garden - growing food not lawns in this historic district.
You can see the hidden Cleveland - the one you've never heard about. Borrow a bike and take a ride. See the sunset over Lake Erie as Rockefeller did from his porch at Forest Hill or wind your way to Whiskey Island and see the setting sun burn into the western shoreline while the cityscape stands yards away at your back just on the other side of the mighty Cuyahoga. I've been hosting visitors for 30 years. I love it. Cleveland always surprises pleasantly.

The city does not allow parking on the street between 3 and 6 am. I will arrange parking for you, if you have a car. On street parking is on the south side of the street (that's across the street from the house). On arrival, please pull into the drive to unload belongings if you have heavy or cumbersome things.
It would be helpful to know in advance if you might require refrigerator space, i.e. you're traveling with a cooler and wish to park some items in the fridge. Yes, you may use the kitchen. Each guest will have a cupboard for nonperishables in the pantry. We practice leave it as you found it as regards dish washing and cleaning up after your food preparation and eating.
Laundry is also available in case you've just come from the woods and need to freshen up your duds.
Breakfast might include coffee (I make it really strong), tea (usually Earl Grey on hand), toast with butter, peanut butter, jam, maybe steelcut oatmeal. I can also do eggs or you're welcome to make them just as you prefer them. Please let me know if you take milk in your coffee or would like herbal tea or something else. The grocer is steps away, and if I know, I can be prepared. Thanks.
Guests are expected to behave courteously to others in the house, respectfully as regards the furnishings and appliances. In the house, we conserve energy and water. Hence we ask that you unplug electronic devices that may use vampire energy such as chargers and televisions (anything with a micro-controller built into it) when they are not in use.
If you are in need of something and wonder if I have it on hand, please ask. If something seems to not be responding normally, or if something breaks, please ask or inform me immediately.
Please handle my home with care. Keeping your items tidy will help you to be sure that they are with you when you leave, and it will also help to insure that damages to the property are not incurred by accident.
Annie is a watchdog, and she will most likely alert when you arrive. If you will stay for longer than a day or two, or you will come and go, making friends with her will cause less disruption. It isn't precisely "love me, love my dog," but so as to not be treated as an intruder each time you arrive, it's best to spend a bit of time getting to know her. That does not involve petting her on arrival. She wants her space, and she'll let you know it if you get too friendly too fast. We value her watchdogness, but we also wish to respect others' rest.
For longer term guests, I am not the maid service. I ask that you launder the sheets and wash towels during your stay and keep the rooms you use clean.
Please do not have mail sent to you at our address without discussing it with me first.
