Romantic hide-away for one or two. Unique charming cross between Ewok village, high tech Shire and Olympian Eyre: suitable for the eco tourist, road weary business traveler, honeymooners, bird watchers, tree huggers, athletically /aesthetically inclined artist nerd, exotic dignitaries, celebrity monks, training retreater wanting to experience nature by visit/living an experiment in social future building. Ultimate quiet and privacy with separate entrance and house privileges, kitchen, laundry, hot tub, hiking/bike trails, ample outdoor parking. WIFI, work on-site office facilities and many unusual options. The room is light filled all day with sumptuous down comforters and natural fiber linens to snuggle in for a long winter's nap. The 100+-year-old Heidi house craftsman style local redwood construction is warmed by old-fashioned fireplace of the same vintage, letting your imagination time travel to the age of dirt main streets when the Gravity train passed not far from our access trails. History buffs, globetrotters, poets, mycologists, physicists, jam with the achieved musicians and entertainers who frequent this house. The environs of the quaint southern Marin community offers many of the traditional seasonal artsy/athletic events: Mill Valley Film Festival, the famous Dipsea Race, ascending and descending the adjacent ridge, the esteemed annual Old Mill Park Fall Arts Fair, the birth place of mountain biking utilizing the abundance of hiking/biking trails - linking the Bay fronting the Portofino like Sausalito, to the majestic white sanded coast of the Pacific. Enthusiastic wind surfers and hang gliders dot the horizon. Jack Kerouac authored Dharma Bums and The Scripture of the Golden Eternity, near the trailhead outside our Canyon entrance. Access by trail to the property or ascend meandering stairs suggests minimum baggage maximum health. Smoking cigarettes is an unwelcome hazard on the mountain; the parking lot below allows. To fully enjoy the opportunity of being in this piece of paradise, 16 minutes from the Golden Gate Toll Plaza, be prepared to energetically relax. Enjoy organic gardens, honey from our happy bees, chlorine and fluoride free water, and take deep breaths of pollution free air. The makings are all here for your pleasure and appreciation. Seeing is believing. You will prefer a vehicle to get to the main road, if you don’t want to walk a mile and a half to Miller Ave., main street in Mill Valley, for public transportation. Inevitably you will want to stay longer than you have booked. Happy trails.

its an adventure in time travel, back to the 60s. I was swept back to my days as a student in Marin. Beautiful redwoods on steep hillsides, clean air and peaceful evenings. Faustin's home has an air about it of colorful Funk & Flash. You expect to see J. Joplin or Jefferson Airplane walking up the stairs. It is a hike to the top but being in the trees is worth it. Parking can be an issue if you drive a large vehicle.

Imagine you discover little paradise on earth? Faustin's place might be close to your dreams, especially if you love nature and having friendly and highly interesting people around you. Yes, it might not be that easy to get there, but I know from own experience, that all forces will be combined to help you and nobody will rest before you will be in your bed. Seriously, this was the most pleasantly surprising stay in my whole life, and I have been a heavy traveler for more than 15 years. Expect the unexpected, be open-minded, enjoy the company of a friendly, colorful crowd and you'll have just as good of a time as I had. I'll go back any time.

The Hilton this is not. Faustin will be the first to tell you. That said, this is maybe the most amazing place I have ever been! Faustin is simply a wonderful person, an absolute gem. I will definitely be back!

Faustin's treehouse was amazing! This is for those wanting a TRUE Cali-Hippy experience! Make sure you're in shape to walk the 80+ steps up to the room! Lots of hiking and lots of REDWOODS. Incredible time, beautiful and well kept space

This place just might be a once in a lifetime place to stay. You will sleep in the forest, amongst the gentle giants, who greet you on the way into the congregation of houses. It's a magical place. There are extra "costs" to such a place sometimes. A word on parking: you will need the smallest car available. Think Chevrolet Spark or Smartcar. The parking is extremely tight, with roots and rocks to catch your undercarriage, camouflaged stone walls jump out to scuff your rental. Parking places are like musical chairs, when the music stops (or you arrive late), you will have to park outside the loop on the main road (if there's a space). Parking is a pain in the ass. A word on steps: there are over 100 steps to haul you and your luggage up to the room. Some may find it onerous. I liked this part. I earned my spot in the nest every night. You'll need a light, which Faustin does supply. A word on the space: it is cute, but very small. The bathroom is a study in bath compactness. Generally, it's a little grungy, and there seems to be a hoard of magazines, papers, odd tools, etc on the covered deck. A word re. the bed: it was very soft, and unsupportive. Some like it that way. We did not, we needed to get massages and sleep on the floor. A word on the shower: hot water takes a while to show up. Sometimes not at all and sometimes with practically no water pressure. I didn't mind this part either. Some might. I felt like I was camping. A word on the toilet: the owner asked us not to put toilet paper in the toilet, but instead put used tp in a small, unsealed waste basket. An absurd, unsanitary request. You simply have to ration tp use, and hold the handle for full flush and SHOULD avoid clogging. Overall enjoyable, almost convenient and a little adventuresome.

The redwoods are beautiful. The house is exotic and eccentric. When no one is home, this is a nice, dark, peaceful place to sleep. There is a nice little park nearby in which to walk. However, this is not a place for clean freaks, or those weak of heart, as stated in the description. Unexpected people coming and going late at night made me wonder what I got myself into, although the people were nice. This place is far from town, and not easy to locate. You need a good light for nighttime arrival, as it is not lighted.
