Our home sits on a small 12 acre private lake just 2 miles from the center of town. Just off I-69 and Indiana Toll Road. Enjoy the 600' of lake frontage, walk in the woods, light a fire in the fire pit, or just lounge in the hot tub or on the patio. Close to restaurants and family-friendly activities. You get the lower level of our home with bedroom, living room, bath, and private patio with hot tub. Use the grill on upper deck, our screened porch and washer/dryer. Cable and Wi/Fi included,
The lower level of our home, which is your private space, consists of a bedroom with queen bed, bathroom with handicap accessible shower (no tub), a living room with plenty of space and a new queen size Murphy bed if there are more than two in your party, along with your own covered patio with hot tub and extra seating. You are free to use the fire ring down by the water (great for toasting marshmallows or making s'mores) as well as the grill on the upper deck. Please note that although our little lake is great for fishing and boating, it is not suitable for swimming. Please take advantage of our fully screened sun room on summer evenings as Indiana mosquitos can get hungry. If it's been a tough day there is an inviting hammock in the shade of two black walnut trees that is hard to beat.
Use of the laundry room with washer and dryer, ironing board and iron is included.
Your bedroom has a ceiling fan with remote and a wall mounted flat screen TV. Living room also has a large flat screen with DVD player and a PS4. A microwave and toaster are provided along with a full size refrigerator for your use. Keurig with selection of coffee and tea is included. For the musically inclined there is also a piano in the living room that you are welcome to play.
Our home is very pet friendly. Dogs love to chase the many squirrels, raccoons, and chipmunks that call this home. If you have a water dog, there are plenty of sticks to toss into the water.

If you are towing your boat or have a trailer there is plenty of space to park. Lots of room for easy turn around if, like many of us, you are not accustomed to backing up a large trailer hooked to your car or truck. If you let me know in advance, inside parking in our garage or in our pole building is available. Garage is heated so especially nice if you're here in winter.

As we are retired, you can expect to see us around during your stay. While we love to spend time visiting with guests, we also are very respectful of your privacy. You decide the level of interaction, though as for me, more is better than less.

If you are staying in the area for a few days there are a number of activities you may enjoy. Nearby Trine University has a challenging 18 hole golf course that is open to the public and is also very affordable. Trine also will be offering ice skating sessions open to the public when the new Thunder Ice Arena opens this fall. Downtown Angola has several large antique stores and our local winery offers tasting sessions daily.
A few miles to the south, Auburn, Indiana is home to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum. A must see for anyone interested in classic 20th century autos.
A few miles to the west and you'll be in the heart of Indiana Amish country. LaGrange and Elkhart counties are home to the third largest Amish community in the U.S. and the area offers many opportunities to learn about these wonderful folks.
We are located just south of Pokagon State Park. If you love the outdoors this is perfect for you. Many great walking and hiking trails, horseback riding, and in the winter a fabulous refrigerated toboggan run that will get your heart started. Beautiful Lake James, the largest of Steuben County's 101 Lakes is a great place to enjoy all manner of water sports just 5 miles to the north of us.
So there is plenty to see and do when you visit or you may want to simply spend your time between your hammock and hot tub. The choice is yours!
My wife, Barbara, and I are a couple who grew up and spent almost our entire lives in Southern California. Five years ago we took a cross country road trip and stumbled onto Angola, Indiana. We loved it immediately and a few months later we were Hoosiers.
