Our canalside cottage, our home for much of the year, is good for couples, friends, solos, cyclists, walkers, people wanting to explore Argyll and the West Coast, and for families. The cottage has a real country feel, the garden is enclosed and the house is dog-friendly; an excellent restaurant and bar, a mere 150 metres away. You can while away the days simply watching the world go by on the canal or you can get out and about to enjoy the beauty of Argyll and Scotland's rugged west coast.
The Crinan Canal was opened in 1801 and the cottage was originally built as the lock-keepers' bothy when the boats passing through the canal were towed by horses; the smaller cottage next door was originally the stables. Our cottage has been extended a few times and modernised but retains a great deal of old world charm. It's certainly not a modern semi!

There is an infant travel cot and a high chair available at the cottage; just let us know if you need it.
I'm a professional artist and have a small studio space near the canal where I work when in Scotland. My partner Brendan and I, and Flo our cocker spaniel, spend about 5 months of the year at our house in the medieval village of Noyers-sur-Serein in Burgundy, France. We let out our house there for only a few weeks each year when we go travelling around France. Between there, and the beauty of the Crinan Canal and Argyll, I have more than enough inspiration for my work!
