We are set in the centre of our village surrounded by vines and fields of sunflowers.
Pâquerette has the charm of an old cottage with exposed beams and stone walls. It is fully self contained. On the ground floor is a large living space with fitted kitchen. The 1st floor has 3 bedrooms (with flexible bed combinations) and 2 bathrooms. There is a private terrace outside and a communal garden with a swing and slide combo, games & a large heated salt water swimming pool, open mid May to mid Sept.
We have created a small complex of four fully furnished, self contained and self catering gîtes. All of our gîtes and our facilities have been classified as 3 star Meublé de Tourisme. We have the ability to accommodate 21 people.
All of our properties are fully insulated and have electric radiators in all rooms. Pâquerette is a large 3 bedroomed, self contained, self catering gite. Bedroom 2 can be arranged either with a double bed or two single beds. This gîte was originally the vigneron's (wine grower) family home. It has an exposed timber beam and ceiling and exposed stone wall in the ground floor space and an exposed stone wall in bedroom 2. There is a private terrace to the side of the gîte with a dining table, chairs and BBQ.
Our properties are truly child friendly with electric plug socket covers, a child lock on the cupboard under the kitchen sink, non slip shower trays and a motion detector night light on the landing. You can also reserve, at no cost at the time of booking, a travel cot (no linen provided), stair-gate, high chair, bedroom night-light, baby bath or potty.

In 2011 my wife, Vanessa, and I decided it was time for a change of life style. Time for a bit of "me / us" time since our two daughters had finished university and left home to build their own lives.
Our plan was to create a language school (Papillon Ecole de langue), gîte complex and chambre d'hôte which we could run and manage at our own pace longer into our dotage!
In 2013 we bought our beautiful home in France.
We took early retirement, me from my work as a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Loss Adjuster, and Vanessa, as a teacher of French at a prestigious girls school, to pursue our dream.
The renovation of the gîtes and school took two years to complete but we are hugely pleased with the outcome.
My hobbies are Scuba diving and (Field) hockey. Unfortunately hockey sur gazon has not reached the Charente Maritime so, after 50 seasons, I hung up my sticks! Vanessa loves playing social tennis, when her body permits, dancing and enthusing over the French language.
Over the years we have travelled fairly widely on holidays and for diving (!) and we look forward to travelling again once our businesses are established.
We truly believe that we have created a fantastic holiday destination. We look forward to welcoming you to share and investigate our beautiful area of France. We are 20 - 25 minutes from Cognac, the Roman town of Saintes, the renown Thermes (health cure and spa) in Jonzac, 40 minutes from the coast and about an hour from Bordeaux and La Rochelle.
