Háafell Lodge

Welcome to Háafell Farm where we raise sheep, keep horses and have one friendly dog. Our private guest house is located 200 meters above the farm, up the mountain at 130 meters above sea level. It is a recently built (2020), 100 square meter, modern “turf house style” house. Háafell means “The High Mountain” and has a long river that cascades down its side with several tiers of waterfalls. It is a five minute walk to our canyon and it is possible to take a cold bath in one of the waterfalls.

Renovated cabin (2021) is located nearby the ocean with lovely oceanview, only few miles from the historical Snæfellsjokull glacier. Good comfort in the house. It is equipped with a big fireplace and outdoor jacuzzi on the 100 sqm terrace Varieties in outdoor walking tours to experience the nature. Such as lava, glacier, mountains, caves, waterfalls and old fishing villages. Historical place with amazing geology as well as rich birdlife. The culture of this region is worth the experience.

Hvammur (Hrakholar) with a private hot tub

Hrakhólar is a summerhouse (25M2) in Bjarnarfjordur, 25 km from Hólmavík. Excellent location for travelling to North/South Strandir or Westfjords. The house stands by the river that runs down the valley. It is a quiet place an excellent place to see the northern lights. There is also a private hot tub Swimming pool and geothermal hot tubs are located in Laugarhóll about 1 km from the house. Outside the house is a fire place. Good for quiet evening under the sky and aurora borealis.

Nearby are two famous Cathedral of the elves, Tungustapi and Ásgarðsstapi. There is only 5 minutes drive to the geothermar pool Guðrúnarlaug where you can bathe. This is where Guðrún Ósvífursdóttir lived a thousand years ago, the most noteworthy character in Laxdæla Saga. 160 km from Reykjavík
