Did you know that a cup of simple miso soup will help you keep fit? As a Japanese koji rice malt master, I want you to enjoy miso soup without any effort. A miso-dama ball is the answer. It’s easy and fun to make. If you keep some of them in stock, you can just put one in a cup and pour hot water over it for instant miso soup.

In this traditional Japanese food hands-on workshop, we’ll learn how to make colorful miso-dama balls. In addition, you’ll learn through a lecture on why fresh miso is so good for your gut health and helps raise your immunity. Let’s explore the ingredients of miso with a koji mister and a Japanese food dietician! After the workshop, we’ll enjoy a simple meal in the Japanese ichiju-issai style.

Also, we will demonstrate how to use chopsticks appropriately. If you know the correct usage, you'll be more confident when you are invited by Japanese family for dinner. We'll show you how to use so that you can practice until you feel comfortable. Feel free to ask us any questions during the session!

I am a certified Koji Rice Malt Meister and Fermentation Regimen Adviser living in Tokyo. I have lived in New York City when young and studied journalism there. After working as a reporter of an English newspaper published in Japan I worked as a public relations professional for nearly 20 years. In 2016, I became a healthy eating expert and started to teach about how to improve and sustain your health through eating. This 2-hour workshop will be entirely held at a private studio in Shibamata, Katsushika-ku, Tokyo. This is a heart of "Shitamachi" area in the capital.

On another note, our place is 5-minute walk from well-known Taishakuten and Daikyoji temple. This is the location of the film "Otoko wa Tsuraiyo" or known as "Tora-san"!! After enjoying this temple with beautiful garden, join us! You can enjoy Koji meal at the end of the session!

Motomi is a super rice koji Master. If you are interested in fermentation this is a really interesting experience! Super suggested.
