Què farem?

We will meet at my little aircon workshop bakery in the campo of Alhaurin el Grande (just 25 minutes from Malaga / Fuengirola). You will be with 4-8 fellow bakers, so there will be plenty of time to ask questions. You can join the basic workshop without any bread baking experience. If you baked bread before, but want to improve your skills, this basic workshop is also for you.

I will teach you how to bake a healthy artisan bread from scratch. All you need is flour, sourdough or yeast, salt and water. We will use local ingredients of the best quality, the basics of a tasty bread. I will introduce you to the different types of flours from this region and will show you all kinds of grindings. The basic workshop includes kneading techniques. One of the tips I will give you is a method to knead less long;). You will practice this during this workshop. If you don’t want to knead, I have a machine to help you out.

Around lunchtime you can join an ARTISAN BREAD TASTING with different types of bread. You will see, smell and taste the different local cereals.

In the afternoon you will walk out the door with your own luscious smelling bread under your arm!

I left my job as a television producer to follow my passion. For a number of years now I am a Dutch Artisan Bread teacher. I learned my skills from a Dutch masterbaker (starring in a series equivalent of Great British Bake off). I am passionate about baking bread from scratch, with only ecological and local ingredients. I blog about my bread baking adventures and teach all I know about the wonderful world of warm luscious bread in a finca just 25 minutes drive from Malaga.

On aniràs?

You will park your car next to a field with ancient olive trees. The workshop is in a special equiped workspace, a part of the finca we converted into a bakery. Everything in the finca is sustainable. We use water from our own well and the oven is heated by solar energy. We feel it’s a special place to be in and baking a calming and mindful experience.

The workshops space is not glutenfree. We will bake a bread based with organic local stone milled wheat. The workspace is airconditioned. No environment for dogs or young children allowed. Age: 14-up.

Què cal portar?

Don´t wear your sunday clothes, I will teach you how to prepare bread in a tidy way, but you never know if you drop some dough gh.

You will get a handout with the recipe, but if you want to make notes, bring your own notebook and a pen
