The Mystical Mayan Experience is a three (3) part tour: (VEGAN/VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY)

First stop: The San Ignacio Farmers Market where you will be introduced to the native crops that are in season in Belize, sampling exotic fruits. You will also get to see cultural foods, arts and crafts and "Made in Belize" souvenirs.

Second stop: Then off we go to one of our beautiful ancient Mayan sites; we choose between Xunantunich or Cahal Pech. There we will talk about the indigenous Mayans of Belize and what life was like for them back in the BC and early AD era. Guests get to explore and and climb selected temples.

Third stop: To San Antonio Village we go. This is one of the few villages in the country of Belize where the people still follow their Mayan Traditions. Timotea and her family will welcome you and show you how to make your own corn tortillas and how to eat it the Mayan way. You also get to sample the atole which is a Mayan corn drink. One of the highlights of the trip is the ceramic pottery making, and yes you get to make your own pottery of your choice. And finally we sit down and eat a traditional Mayan lunch made from the crops harvested by Timotea's family.

With our stomach's, minds and hearts content we deliver you back to San Ignacio Town or your place of stay so you can unwind and continue to enjoy your day.

Sunshine went above and beyond to ensure that my daughter and I enjoyed our time in Belize! She's very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very patient. I say patient because my daughter was 20 months old at the time of our tour. I would definitely use her services again!

I must say...this experience was one of the highlights of our trip. My 90-year grandmother, my mom, her partner and myself all enjoyed this adventure and would highly recommend it to others of all ages. We were immersed in the Belizean and Mayan cultures and felt truly welcome and at home. Sunshine and her partner Aurora were accommodating and made us all feel comfortable. I loved each part of this experience from the market and being able to learn about the fruits specific to this region, to experiencing the Mayan culture where we made corn tortillas from scratch and also got a short course on pottery-making. We also enjoyed visiting Xanantunich. Sunshine and Aurora were knowledgeable and also very personable. After having this experience with them, we did another tour with them, and I also learned how to do the punta dance. I can honestly call them friends after all of these different experiences while we were in Belize. I can’t wait to go back and experience more adventures with these two ladies. I am forever grateful for you both and the adventures you took us on. Book this experience, I promise you will love it!!!

Sunshine is FABULOUS. She’s really passionate about food and health, and how she works with the flora of Belize to maintain an organic, healthy lifestyle; and she isn’t preachy about it! The Mayan experience with the women from the coop was fabulous. Loved learning how to make tortillas, and how they keep up traditions in their community.

This experience was amazing! I honestly didn't know what to expect but I'm glad my friend signed me up for this. I learned so much and had the opportunity to try different types of food. The highlight of my trip was visiting the ladies in San Antonio. The food was delicious!!!! And I'm glad they were able to accommodate my dietary restriction.

This experience was amazing. We were able to try many local fruits and vegetable, Sunshine was very knowledgeable about their benefits. The Mayan experience was fun, cultural and the food was very good. We visited Xunantunich, which was a cool experience and were able to beat the crowd because we went early. I would definitely recommend this experience to those visiting San Ignacio. Sunshine was an amazing host.

My husband and I joined another couple for this amazing Mayan experience. I think it may have been the highlight of our week in Belize (besides the beach side hotel). The trip to the vegetable market with multiple sellers was fun. We saw and tasted fruits and vegetables that we’d never seen before. The ruins were of course fabulous but the trip to the Mayan village was so very very special. We visited with a Mayan lady in a village where they live by the old ways. Holey moley. They raise corn, shuck it, dry it in the sun, pulverize it on a large stone bowl that’s passed down through the generations, add water to make a dough, shape it into tortillas, and finally cook it over a wood fire. That’s a lot of work to get some tortillas to eat, which they do every day! We all made and ate one. Then she showed us how to make their clay and shape into bowls, etc. Finally, she served us a delicious lunch, which is the main meal of the day. Very very interesting. And delicious. We highly recommend this tour.
