Què farem?

The only intimate afternoon tour aside from our scheduled morning tours a few days a week. The start time is flexible and the pace is set by you. The theme is also unique in the extended focus on our sacred relationship with the plant world and various sacraments. We will meet at the botanical gardens and walk through a river surrounded by towering bamboo and fruit trees. Upon entering the village we will tour the premises, meet villagers, reason with elders visiting our sacred spaces, communal kitchen, tabernacle for our ceremonies, drumming, chanting, wellness center, various preservation stations, and sacramental grounds. We will then stroll through an organic herb and vegetable garden which feeds the vegan livity of the community, called an ital food science, with sustainable farming where we process our own food and natural juices. Learn a nursery of plant nutrients and medicine including kale, arugula and callaloo for green juices. Beds of lettuce, peppers, pumpkin, papaya and more grown in permaculture fashion. We will then visit the vegan prepped kitchen and chocolate station for further cultural immersion. We make chocolate from the earth, healing honey, and powerful noni tonics. We will share seasonal fruits along with coconut water and natural juices on this tour. Experience my journey to become Rastafari.

Born in Montreal and raised in Jamaica, I have had the best of two islands. With a background in marketing, away for school and business, I moved back to Jamaica two years ago to deliver authentic local experiences to travelers. Grassroots tours was my focus. I did a tour to a Rastafari village, found home and moved in. Village practices a horizontal society, equality with an identity where each individual is an owner onto themselves based on ability. My department is marketing and tour development. As a former elite entertainer, hosting is second nature.

Having developed many businesses, tips, trips and other tours are provided with our own company Lovenjoy Lifestyle operating custom tailored excursions across the island. As a Rastafari living in an indigenous Village, I am very immersed in the daily lifestyle and community development

Juan's private tours are one type, not to be confused with the general public tours that take place three days a week. Juan's private tour is more intimate, slower-paced, and one can spend more time, and ask the different experts in the village more questions, learn more about the history and the individuals which I deeply appreciated. This is a self-sustaining village where they organically produce, their own food, process their own soaps and oils, and even make their own musical instruments and drums by the masters of the crafts. Juan as the IT person of the community is well-positioned to guide you through the overall history, but deliver you to each station to spend quality time with the masters of the various specialty fields. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Jamaica to have this on the list of places to tour and experience the tranquility of a place so close to the city and yet so peacefully removed from it.

Juan lives at the village and is fully immersed in the rastafari religion beliefs and lifestyle. He was very interesting and knowledgable about the history of the movement and in fact the wider history of Jamaica. We had some interesting conversations which touched on the painful and troubled history of the island as well as the optimism of the rastafari movement. The village is in a an amazing spot small and self contained, the calabash shakers and the drums they make are especially beautiful and the homemade chocolate drink is delicious! The relation to the surrounding nature is very respectful and productive and Juan can tell you all about the trees and their beneficial properties . My son loved the kitchen garden and all the different herbs and the soaps they make from these. Going on the visit with Juan meant we had a slightly more intimate experience than some of the other groups. I was with my small son and he was able to wander more freely and we were able to take our time and hang out with some of the people there A very welcome introduction to a more peaceful side to life in Jamaica and a very special day. Thank you Juan!

It bought so much love and peace to our hearts touring the Rastafari village , so much knowledge and history learned, that I never would of learned elsewhere . No history book, or google search could make you understand the Rastafari village. Jaun is awesome. The people of the village are also awesome. Have fun!! Take it all in and enjoy.

Excelente!

Words can only express a small piece of what you will take away from this experience. Visiting the Rastafari village gives you a whole mind, body, and spiritual connection to the wisdom that’s shared. Juan was an excellent host with a welcoming, and fun spirit. We were able to meet the wonderful people in the village, and learn about the many things they create with the gifts they were blessed with. Gaining knowledge about the history, witnessing the different natural herbs, listening to the rhythm of the drums, and nourishing the body with flavorful meals - you will leave feeling spiritually refreshed. If you’re looking to experience the real culture in Jamaica, I highly recommend visiting the Rasatafari village.
