Què farem?

Located just three blocks far from Villa de leyva’s central square. Surrounded by a quiet and natural ambiance distinguished for its beautiful and diverse plants. We’ll start preparing some appetizers as pacific flavored mini patacones (thick green plantain), some typical snacks from the eastern plains region and even some mini empanadas worthy representative of the andean region and the central part of the country, after sharing these starters, we’ll prepare the main course, each participant will be able to take an active part in the preparation. Each dish stands out for the use of regional authentic ingredients as andean tubers, biscuits (arepas, envueltos), traditional sausages, all of these accompanied by cultural overviews and our chef own anecdotes of more than ten years of experience in the field, looking for each dish to be a great experience of flavors, colors and unique textures of the colombian cuisine. Then, a refreshing drink with delicious and exotic fruits. We’ll finish this experience with a flourish, a tasting of delicious colombian desserts as cholado and merengon, among others.
Other things to note
The experience lasts 3.5 hours approximately, it might be longer. The menu is designed with regional authentic ingredients, meat, fish and seafood, among others. It’s necessary to inform about seafood, pig meat, nut allergies or gluten intolerance…etc, in order to modify the menu.

Wir haben bei Juan den Kochkurs gemacht und waren alle begeistert. Juan liebt seinen Beruf und erklärt alles mit ganz viel Leidenschaft. Das Essen welches wir zusammen gekocht haben hat wirklich toll geschmeckt!!! Diese Aktivität ist sehr empfehlenswert!!!!!!

Mit Juan zu kochen ist eine sehr gute Mischung aus Showküche und Mitmachveranstaltung. Es hat wirklich viel Spaß gemacht, Juan ist so herzlich und gleichzeitig sehr professionell wenn es darum geht seinen Besuchern die Kniffe der kolumbianischen Küche zu vermitteln. Als wir beim Nachtisch angekommen sind der absolut köstlich waren wir, 6 Norddeutsche, glücklich über diesen gelungenen Abend unseres Urlaubs. Wir können dieses Event ohne Einschränkung weiter empfehlen.

La clase de cocina con Sebastián excedió nuestras expectativas en todo sentido. Aprendimos trucos para hacer los platos con éxito, probamos sabores deliciosos. disfrutamos de la atención y la amabilidad de los padres de Sebastián y degustamos los platos que cocinamos y nos encantaron. Recomendamos ampliamente esta actividad. El precio es muy adecuado y los ingredientes y las recetas se pueden adaptar a otros países. La cocina colombiana queda en un lugar muy alto con esta clase. Y nos quedaríamos cortos describiendo no solo las habilidades como chef sino como ser humano del chef. Fue realmente uno de los momentos más bellos de nuestra visita a la siempre bella Villa de Leyva. Además, Sebastián nos envió un PDF con las recetas que cocinamos juntos realizado con máxima profesionalidad y cariño, incorporando las fotos que tomamos y su toque personal.

A wonderful experience not to be missed. Juan, helped by his sister and girlfriend, who was visiting, gave us a fabulous time. The food and the atmosphere were brilliant. Juan showed us how to cook traditional Colombian food but with his own interpretation and the results were delicious. We made arepa and empanadas - but smaller than usual otherwise we would never have been able to eat all the food that followed. We also enjoyed the patacones. The main course of trout and the deserts were all equally superb. Juan brings a passion and enthusiasm to his cooking which is infectious. He also kindly adjusted the menu to cater for my allergy to shellfish by offering both a shrimp and chicken alternative on one dish. Initially I was a little concerned when booking because of the lack of reviews since Juan's is a new experience on AirBNB, but seeing how well reviewed his restaurant is we took the chance and it was the best decision we made. One tip: come hungry - there is so much great food you will want to savour every course.
