I have spent over the years many weeks and months wandering around Greece with the aid of various guides and guidebooks. This trip was different. We went into the mountains and to places not in the books. The guide had immense knowledge and interesting details about the area. He was born and bred on the island and has a small farm. We visited chapels off the beaten track. One had oregano growing in abundance around the entrance and I brought some home. The smell takes me right back........Sitting in the shade under a tree eating homegrown pears hearing of life long ago on the island was magical!! My only regret was that the visit came to an end as I could have carried on listening, walking and visiting these mountain villages for hours

Efprepios is a charming man with excellent English. He collected us and drove us up into the hills. We had a delightful walk to see lovely simple chapels which we would never have found by ourselves. We also were shown wild flowers, trees and plants which Efprepios knows all about. He took us to a lovely deserted village called Xaixoytee where he treated us to a drink at a beautifully restored house now a cafe. The experience was delightful and we would thoroughly recommend it.
