Què farem?

Discover Lisbon in the company of a specialist who is passionate about its history and culture. In this experience I’ll share my knowledge about architecture of the old city, highlighting the importance of its convents in the urban consolidation and their historical contribution to the traditional Portuguese sweets and pastries.

Our meeting point will be at miradouro of S. Pedro de Alcântara, one of Lisbon's most iconic viewpoints. The route will include visits to some of the most important historical buildings of the old city and the tasting of Portuguese traditional convent sweets. Starting at the hill of Bairro Alto, we will proceed to Carmo's square where we will discuss the repercussion that the earthquake of 1755 had in the convents of Lisbon. Right after, we will take a short break and taste the tempting conventual pastries that I have selected for you.

With the batteries recharged, we will cross downtown Baixa towards the castle hill to explore the streets of the Alfama neighbourhood, one of the oldest in Europe. We will end this tour by visiting my favorite church, one of the most impressive in Lisbon, which includes the roof top - with spectacular views of the Tagus river - its cloisters and museum.
Other things to note
This tour includes some food tastings that contain eggs, sugar, gluten and, in some cases, nuts and almonds. It´s not possible to adapt it to a vegan diet.

The app is asking me for a review, even though it is tomorrow, as today the weather was bad and Ricardo agreed to postpone it for tomorrow, which is appreciated as a sign of respect for the customer & flexibility. Looking forward to this interesting tour & will update the review accordingly. UPDATE: all went well, took nearly 4 hours, so well worth it. Learned a lot about Portuguese history. Nice & polite guy, was waiting for us in the park. Recommended.

My husband and I had a fantastic time with Ricardo during our first day in Lisbon. Ricardo is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon and we loved learning from him. Ricardo gave us a great frame of reference for where we were situated throughout our trip because we covered so much ground with him in such a short amount of time. That said the tour never felt rushed and is a tremendous value for the price. We loved learning about the connection between the convents and the typical desserts of the city - not to mention eating them! 10/10 We would recommend Ricardo's tour to anyone!

Worth it!!! This tour gave an interesting insight to history culture architecture and cuisine of Lisbon. I would have never known or seen this much of the city and history. The pastries were amazing! Ricardo is an expert and gave an intense level of detail beyond typical tours. He made the tour very interactive and personal by asking questions and answering all of our questions throughout the tour. I am recommending this tour to friends and family!

This is an absolute MUST DO if you are in Lisbon! Ricardo has a History degree but his knowledge goes well beyond it, he knows the anecdotes and the little stories that make up the big History and is a born story teller, very witty and engaging. His passion for Lisbon is contagious. You will also eat the best doces conventuais in this walk! It is great exercise too, as you walk miles, but it is so immersive and exciting you don’t even feel it. And you will get great shots of the city. An experience that stays with you long after it is over. Not to be missed.
