It's time for Vancouver's secrets to come out of the closet. From drag kings and two spirit warriors, to queer church ministers and transgender crime fighters, this walking tour is a celebration of the unsung heroes who forever changed the social fabric of Vancouver
Meet your guide - the man in pink! - outside Vancouver City Centre Skytrain Station on West Georgia Street. You'll embark on a 2 hour adventure into the LGBTQ2+ history and culture of this West Coast metropolis.
Start in the heart of Vancouver's entertainment scene on Granville Street, where you'll discover Vancouver's very earliest gay bars. Weave a path through Imperial Court coronations, drag kings at the Quadra, gay ministers at the United Church, the myth of Patient Zero, the GRID crisis, and visit urban oasis Nelson Park, until you find yourself in the gaybourhood on Davie Street.
The walking tour strolls the historic tree-lined West End as you discover the city's earliest Pride parade, Jim Deva Plaza, bookstore bombings, a transgender campaigner who blew the whistle on the biggest crime in Vancouver history, Vancouver’s secret gay village, and the remarkable story of two-spirited warrior Gone to the Spirits.
You’ll finish right in the middle of the action in the Davie St. village with its variety of bars and restaurants. The perfect place to enjoy a cocktail as you reflect on your afternoon's adventure.

We visited Vancouver for the first time during Pride Week. Our tour took place on Pride Sunday so we really felt like we were part of the LGBTQ community as we learned about Vancouver's rich queer history. Our guide, Will, was very knowledgeable and humorous, which made the tour all that more enjoyable. We liked that it included stories about ALL members of the LGBTQ community.

It gave me a real understanding of the pioneering work done by our LGBTQ community of yesteryear.
Glenn was so passionate and obviously moved by some of the stories from our history.
As a gay man I found it particularly interesting and was also moved by the battles fought in history to make us what we are today.

We had Glenn as our tour guide and he was utterly fantastic. His passion and sensitivity for accurate and poetic storytelling and the LGBTQ2+ community was really powerful and moving. His ability to tell meaningful stories and important events allowed us as participants to map the city in ways both political and personal. Glenn was an excellent and kind guide and I learned an incredible amount. Would highly recommend and ask for Glenn!

An excellent way to learn about the history of LGBTQ2+ in Vancouver. Will was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. His personal stories were moving. My partner and I have a greater understanding of Vancouver's unique history and its relationship with the current LGBTQ2+ community. It's also a great way to learn about Vancouver and its interesting sites. This was a highlight of our vacation.
