Què farem?
You'll get an in-depth and personable tour of our farm with our knowledgeable guide and junior master roaster, Mary Grace, who has been with us longest out of our entire team at the farm for about a year now.
Our farm is the oldest certified organic coffee farm on the island. We’ll offer you a tasting of some of our coffee while informing you about the history and cultivation process of Kona coffee, interesting plant science and agriculture facts that touch on the fascinating world of flora in Hawaii, as well go over the flavor notes that different stages in roasting that can create.
Once finished, we’ll take a walk around our property where you’ll see the coffee trees and learn how coffee is handled and taken through an elaborate set of processes that turns it from a raw and slightly sweet fruit into drinkable coffee.
At the end of the tour, you'll get to roast a batch of coffee with Mary Grace and see how it turns from a simple green bean to the complex flavor packed coffee you enjoy.
You’ll be working with our vintage and beloved roaster made in the early 1970’s, which is a rare experience.
Other things to note
Please remember we are a real, operating farm. Ours is a nearly 100 year old house. While we may not be the shiniest farm, we love what we do and that shows brightly through every member of our team!

I came to Hawaii for the purpose of working on organic farms. What was originally planned as a two-month excursion, has turned into an entire year of working with the oldest certified organic coffee farm on the Big Island of Hawaii. Apart from being an operating farm, we also do farm tours daily, so I've had experience with tourism and showing regular coffee drinkers the process from start to finish; from seed to cup. Now considered the other ‘master roaster’ at the farm where I work, I learned directly and meticulously from the owner.

You'll ride up into the slopes of Mauna Loa, along a real farm road where a large handful of small family farms are located and learn how Kona coffee is predominantly harvested.
You'll get to see our upstairs tasting area, with an incredible view of Kealakekua Bay and the Pacific ocean.
After a walk around our 6.1-acre property, you'll be led to the roasting room where you’ll be taught how to roast your own coffee.

Tara, Mary-Grace, and staff not only were extremely knowledgeable about their trade, but could describe and demonstrate in great detail the process of making organic coffee, all while making the guest feel welcome. Their expertise and accommodation demonstrated an artisan's knowledge of making coffee from seed to cup.

Best personal experience I’ve had In Hawaii. Mary Grace, the guide, was insightful and personable. I learned about coffee production and so many other organic and sustainability grown foods. It was fun to have JJ, an intern, along on the tour and learn from her experience as well. I left felt connected to the land, small agriculture, and the stewards.

Amazing and immersive experience. Take them up on the opportunity to explore the various fruit trees on the property, ask lots of questions. Bring out doorsy/hiking attire for comfort and protection from elements. Mary Grace was our host, she was phenomenal. Delicious coffee, beautiful views, cool people. Have fun!

It was really hard to rate this. First of all:
I was highly welcome and everybody was so nice and friendly.
2. Everything is made and kept with much love, in perfect harmony with nature.
3. Scenery is breath taking
4. Roasting your own coffee, take it home: fantastic
Would have given 5 stars but only when we started the coffee experience I was told that the coffee I was tasting and going to roast was imported from Timor as their coffee beans were completely sold out. That was highly disappointing.
Roasting was a great experience, also the tour around the farm. The explaination of making coffee while on the walk around the farm answered most of my questions.
What I was missing:
1. tasting of locally farmed coffee beans in the beginning while passing on some deeper knowledge about coffee, beans, roasting etc, I did not really know the difference I was just told to choose which of the two cups I liked to choose my roast, and would have loved to learn more about coffee from them as they are experts.
2. Hawaiian coffeebeans or if not available advised upon booking.
Otherwise great, as stated above, if these two points were adjusted I would rate this above standard. Happy new year
