Perry's Roost is a perfect base for exploring this beautiful area, with easily accessible walks and picturesque local towns. Catley is a walkers/cyclists paradise, multiple footpaths and quiet lanes in all directions from the door . Well behaved dogs very welcome but restricted to ground floor. To the front there is an off road parking space and a self-contained garden. There are pubs and a cafe within walking distance and local walking trails start in the village. Great Malvern is 3 miles over the hill and the ancient town of Ledbury 5 miles in the other direction. Direct trains run from London to Colwall station, 5 minutes' walk from the cottage.

The path up the Hills starts across the road; a short walk leads to Holy Well, the ancient spring which won Malvern its reputation for pure waters. Beyond that a shady zigzag leads to the ridge of the Hills, with views on all sides; from the Cotswolds to the Welsh mountains. They say on a clear day you can see fourteen counties.
